#Obligatory Anatolia Feedback post-contest
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
what do you mean by not worth it?
Like not worth the time or like they don't do very much?
well its 60 extra chests to get 7/7/7 so hold on to them
Yea, it's like ~40 hours of Trove farming
What's your magic trove opening number?
I found the best luck with 5 this uni
I'm not superstitious. I've opened in ranges from 1-1000 and haven't ever noticed any appreciable difference in the results.
for real tho, an adequate increase makes everybody happy. pvpers get their skills and money, pvers dont have to pvp and get the skills too
more reason to pvp
That kinda eliminates them being an endgame goal though.
There was a modest increase both going from the previous uni to this uni.. and even in the middle of this contest
Current system they are one, just not one many can hope to achieve
adequate
I mean... I guess... but I'd have to be able to get it on my main 2 characters and my main two alts before I'd ever consider selling any.. and I'm pragmatic about that... I'd still need 32-40 skills worth.
So like the individual would be getting more than the game combined at my modest numbers.
The skills are effectively priceless at the moment...
and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
idk if they do this but you can model what will happen pretty accurately with the data they have. we're all a 📊
dorian just come out and say you want pve solely in ss. it's pretty much what you're advocating at this point now.
I mean it's been stated by the devs that the imp skills are basically the carrot to get people to engage in the contest because they don't have anyhting else they think will entice players.
The issue with that statement is that they have to force players to participate in what is already the most lucrative zone in the game...
That means there is a serious problem with the content if it is extremely rewarding on it's own and they still worry no-one will do it 😄
It's a WIP so it understandable they want to get feedback on what works and what doesn't.
Maybe when they've reached something they think will be stable for a while they'll consider rebalancing rewards appropriately.
i dont think it's the most lucrative zone
a lot of people are skerred of dying. they think everything should be bang bang i killed it give me the lewt. what makes sense there?
well, except for the priceless imp7
ai should be beefed in emp contest. they are after all defending midas's reputation
I haven't made one suggestion to reduce the amount gained by competing in emp... the contest can have them as a reward, it just shouldn't be the ONLY method.
it literally should
if you look back at the amount of characters that have been generated in ss database how many have been emp? why? cuz it's emp. if everyones emp then no one is (back to the incredibles....)
before Traders became active again was there any contesting over emp?
No one was active except EF... and because there was split partial rewards the system forced us to not allow anyone to participate off team.
That was a BAD system and we all pointed that out constantly
back in 2009 i remember something something moving the base to sol. jey was emp and the ss world was full of red faction death mental etc. IWIN still my favorite team name. now it's become "i should not have to get my hands sullied to be just as technically skilled as everyone else"
If it was the current system without 1 team wanting pvp would the other teams just have a peace agreement and farm max and also split the prize? I feel like they would
SoH was 2-3 people, SRX was like 5 people, Traders was like 5 people.. Imperium put up more of a fight than most...
You still deny points by putting other teams in their pods no?
Like if 2 teams are trying to WIN... there is going to be pvp
But the signets don't come from ai that gives points
it's supposed to be factions fighting to see who controls the universe. of course yer going to pod people. what part of pvp don't you understand?
Plus, there are plenty of people on SRX/EF/Traders that just enjoy PvP and will do it when they can.
what if instead of imp7, it was a skill that only affected pvp
there is an option. wish i'd thought of this before. dorian you can stay in safe space where no one can shoot you. first time i played in 2006 think sol was only safe haven. nowadays you can roam freely for hours without interruption
Bro most Emps back in the day were cheats or bought or there was little opposition to an overwhelming force.
I got several levels of AT/IT on multiple accounts and never had to PvP...
I think the point is to draw in players that otherwise wouldn't pvp

What would be the point of that? People who don't like PvP don't want to PvP....
Are they there just to get PvP'd?
yet the aidelon noobs showed up 😂
Is that the goal, provide chum to people that just want to ruin other people's days?
and there is a thriving f2p economy in ss. you don't want to pvp you don't have to. you want to be able to garner all the skills available in game.... think you know or can guess several possibilities of replys here?
I heard aidelon was only there to try and stop traders because they don't like pvp
guaranteed rewards even if you lose is bound to attract way more pvers than wasting your time. not saying wether it's good or not
pvp is NOT the end of the world. you have more people in your real life who can ruin your day in a myriad of ways more awful then . "ya mad bruh?" if you get podded.
Pvp is not the point of the world either.. why can't people like different things?
you can but this is a pvp game. was way more pvp back in the day. kindergarten is for sharing
that would require theory of mind from a pvper
srry
Is it a pvp game? Is that the main play loop?
Because 99% of contnet does not involve pvp and never has
And SKILLs specifically are generally put in places outside of pvp because it's been generally accepted that it's a bad idea.
And this game has extremely limited content development available.... it doesn't really get the luxury of having pve and pvp progression separately because their is no way to support the amount of content to make that viable.
It's a social sandbox... shoot Ai, get loot, get in fights with people on the internet.
The discord is literally a more rewarding source of pvp than the actual game.
When discord BVB?
Yet there is little actual content that is completely beyond pvp... you have EF layer, the two places you can jump to in period and the two places you can jump to in KD.
Can't do dungeons, trackers, most lockouts...
Yet the reward for winning pvp.. nothing... it's literally pointless and has been since they got rid of Gear Glue.
The game's been not pvp longer than it was pvp at this point...
@inland peak does pvp in free market by sitting in shop and undercutting everyone by 1 credit 😠
market pvp is very lucrative 😏
Killing someone in KD is exactly as rewarding as killing them in colo... with ine exception... in KD you're ruining someone else's time.
If pvp was really the core of the game you'd think more people would be in colo constantly right?
The true is the PvE loops spur pvp out of material reward for things like gal claiming... and those material reward are worth fighting over.
Those fights spawn larger conflicts that enhance the social aspects of the game and should be expressed via things like content denial in kd.
If pvp zones were actually just war zones where only declared enemies fought it would back sense... there isnsome sort of two sided conflict based over reward or social construct.
But we have herpty derpty pvp anywhere for any reason with no risk/reward outside of a couple roamers and some hauling missions...
dorian just buy ss and make it carebear land. or just deal with the fact pvp is a vital and integral part of this game.
Funny enough I was farming Anatolia the other day (testing the red drones) and came across a TFC player.
I killed them because they're wared... i didn't even scoop their drops or blow their pod.. i killed them and flew away... it was an obligatory social exchange to me.
Might not of felt that way to them because they had to leave and repair their drones and hope someone less friendly didn't find them...
If it was a non-wared team I would have given them an o7 and maybe chatted about the new drones.
To me it was the same either way, the pvp did not enhance my experience. To the poor TFC guy his farming was ruined because of his flag. To anyone else they would have gotten a salute and maybe a friendly chat.
PvP just makes it worse for one player and a basically an unchanged experience for the other.
please tell me it was belli
Some engi, I didn't even read their name.
I'm not saying pvp has no place... but it's place is more in the social aspects.
I would love to see for fun pvp and bvb mechanics where people are opting into that sort of competition... if they find that fun and rewarding then let them eat cake.
The problem is there is no opt-in... and gating skills behind that is gross
I don't think the pvpers on Traders would find that fun
I don't think it's healthy to want to walk around punching strangers in the face for no reason...
But some people think that's fun
How does the ai feel when u go into its instance and blow him up
Some beg for more in gal chat
If pvp was close to balanced or if there was equal risk/reward for attackers and defenders or if there were a pvp flag system I'd be fine... but there's not.
If there was ship death or gear drop would you consider it equal risk/reward?
I expect Traders to come fight me in Anatolia if they see me.. we're at war.
I don't think they should be able to merc cojines or Aidelon for no reason.
cojnes deserves it for the free market pvp. He's actually more annoying than ef
Sure, that would make pvp meaningful and it would pose a risk to both sides.
Try being on a team with him and having to tell him to stop undercutting team bases 😂 (love you buddy)
i actually tried to match prices but the guy kept lowering his
problem is you can't even buy out his stock and then set your original price cos there's too much
if i recognize the shop i try to match
I'm mostly playing man, I always respected the hustle.
With the way this game is currently structured I think it'd almost immediately die though.
Takes too much time and bs to obtain what we have for it to be drop/loss. It's why they got rid of those systems 10 years ago and in alpha respectively.
They even got rid of death debt...
They made those changes because the game's demographic did not support it... because at it's core this is a dungeon crawler.. not an FPS.
Maybe a hardcore server could do that.. it'd be a fun experiment at least.
apparently they tried a pvp server, I wasn't around for it but sounded like it was fun for everyone
Yea, I missed it too. Pretty sure it was mostly people grinding to 600 or something for a char slot.
i'd play hardcore pve
But this game is more dungeon crawler than looter shooter...
Once upon a time it was like that... but it's been a LONG time.
I think the whole server would be hardcore.
It'd be real funny watching some people who can't do contnet try and regear themselves from scratch.
Like always ship loss
I think char loss is probably too extreme to balance, but maybe.
char loss but you keep tsl
I doubt we'll ever see something like that.. there isn't resources to facilitate it... but it's an interesting thought experiment.
I wonder how tough people would act if they actually had to back it up.
That's somehow worse lol.
Plus, there would never be enough bana ruin cloaks or DC helms
i mean it's for fun, try and reach matri/etc. not to put bosses on farm
Doing matri 16 times a week IS the fun 😂
Not really, obviously I can only speak for myself. But as the emp contest has changed I've started to enjoy participating in it. It is different and more fun to pvp in squads than solo. I'm not an amazing pvper but some of the changes like making the items that give influence take up space has given me more ways to contribute and be useful. Just because a lot of people on my team don't care for pvp doesn't mean I don't let people come play. I've been doing basically the same lockouts for 20+ years.. variety is the spice of life.
okay then, we can keep listing MMOs where you get massive achievements in less time than imp skills take:
EVE Online: The pinnacle of ships is the Titan (though it's a ship for fleet actions, not solo). The cost of getting a Titan, the fittings, and the skills required would be roughly 300b. You can get upwards of 500m-1b/h, losses included, if you know what you're doing. So that's 600h or less of farming. Far better than imp skills.
Elite Dangerous: The pinnacle of achievement is perhaps Triple Elite with a fully engineered version of every useful ship and a fleet carrier. Money making is quite fast once you're set up, so farming the money for all these could be done in a few dozen hours, and you'll get triple elite progress during it. Engineering is a upfront time cost, and after that its a few hours of effort per ship. Farming Triple Elite itself shouldn't take too long, slowest is exploration. Overall, I'd say 300ish hours?
Warframe: It's not clear exactly what 'winning' Warframe would look like, as there's a fuсkton of different avenues of gameplay to explore. Completing the campaign could be done in a few dozen hours I think. You could farm up some respectably capable frames and weapons in a similar amount of time. If you're going for the highest mastery rank, this would mean a very long period of grinding every weapon and frame to level 30, but almost no one does this and there are no real rewards associated with it; quite the contrary, most weapons are meh.
Lets see... what other MMOs have I played...
Deep Rock Galactic: Debatable whether it's a MMO. Regardless, you can unlock every weapon and level up every class within a dozen or two hours, and you can unlock every overclock within a few hundred.
Planetside 2: Honestly, been ages since i've played this, but really you can unlock stuff pretty quickly and it's more about having good aim than any fancy unlocks.
Oh you know what, I did play another MMO a looong time ago
Ace Online: Grindy as fuсk Korean MMO. Getting to a level in the 90s can take hundreds or thousands of hours. Still faster than the imp seal grind, though, and it's not gated behind group actions.
Honestly, I could go on. If none of these qualify as a "real MMO" then could you kindly list your incredibly strict standards for what a "real MMO" is?
Umm. Doesn't EVE require you to have certain skills trained to even do that?
The training happens in real time based off your training queue. It takes time but there's no player activity required. Log in, set the queue, monitor your training app and refill when empty. There's also skill injector type things that can be obtained with money or in game credits to speed early training. SS requires a real gameplay loop to aquire skills.
as Goldstar mentioned, yes you can directly exchange ingame money for skills using skill injectors. It's not actually exclusively for early skills, they just have some diminishing returns. Nonetheless you could, with a ton of ingame money or real money, train a newbie character to be a competent titan pilot within a day.
in game mechanics terms, not in terms of actually knowing how to participate in a fleet action with a titan
and yes, people actually do this sort of thing, albeit maybe not specifically for titans.
EVE's version of multiclienting, "multiboxing", makes widespread use of this. You can simply create a new character for a specific role wholesale as a monetary investment
The training queue was interesting, but I always thought it was a let down compared with SS. Pay your sub and you could train anything with zero effort.
I mean... of actual time spent in Anatolia getting imp skills isn't that much.
If we say there are 120 Strat spawns in a contest, 30 minutes each, that's like 60 hours a contest... and that's probably a little high on the spawn count.
True, but you only get it 4 times per year. Then you factor in the no-life vs life aspect. Can you attend most spawns? The contest is pretty short when you look at the time, because once teams hit cap the only reason to be in there is for the spawns. Total available opportunity for players to interact with it isn't that high if say you work and have an hour or two to spare. No lifers are going to be able to farm more but that's a choice, not everybody can grind out or take time off work for a game to maximize the opportunity to collect skill items.
Indeed. I didn't show up for as many strats as I would have liked to because I'm a NA player and the bulk of the strong players on Traders are OCE. At best I'd come to heal someone on a shm while they go gank isolated SRX players.
Between strats, I was able to get around 3k influence an hour. I was muchhhh more interested in the bindo and NB chests, though. You can thank me bindo prices are hovering around 2b not the 3b+ nonsense earlier this uni. Got a char from IT0 all the way to IT5 and a few skills from 4 to 5 with about 20 NB chests spread across the two accs I've been working on.
I didn't actually see many people in my main farming times except (1) that one Aidelon sniper vanguard that caught me 20mins after a strat finished when I had about 10 troves worth on me, (2) Spanos (the TFC engi Dorian found), (3) some random scrub on EF, posted location, immediately went to other side of anatolia while a teammate came and ganked ("I thought pvp was over" was the response that got screencapped), and (4) 13 showed up to afk farm a few times and got rapidly overwhelmed and died. 13 was not using surgical damage so that's the likely culprit. Probably 20 farming hours across the board before, between, and after strats.
Multi-boxing is actually the correct term. We came up with multi-clienting because the ss devs referred to each instance of play as a client and it stuck. Every single other game calls it box.
As for Titans, they're not the pinnacle single player ship, as they (and supercarriers) cannot log off when you do nor can dock at a station (and capships in general) can't enter hi-sec. Capships are more group-oriented ships and that includes "non-combat" ones like the Rorqual which provides bonuses for nearby players in asteroid mining ops.
I'd say the pinnacle non-capital (any kind) would either be a subcapital Pirate Faction (as all the normal pirate factions have capships now), one of those special non-Pirate expensive factions (eg EDENCOM's Thunderchild BB), the newer pve faction ships (eg Triglavian ships), or a Strategic Cruiser/Tactical Destroyer.
I prefer not to call people no lifers lol. Some people just have more time than others for games.
My work for instance is very intense this time of year therefore I was only in the middle of the road attendance wise this contest. Last uni over the winter I was one of the highest participants.
If you have more time to put into a game then of course you will go further than someone that doesn’t. And there is nothing wrong with that. Different strokes for different folks.
No doubt, but if the drop rates are so low that it takes literal years to get a skill level by participating at a casual level i see that as not being enticing or rewarding enough. I can go into anatolia all year for crests, why shouldn't the emp contest be rewarding enough to participate in even if you can't log crazy hours?
the drop rates are not low, they've been beefed continuously. if you are referring to Buggy's comment i will say we have a rather large team and we divvy things up fairly based on participation.
quite a few of us on SRX farmed more signets than we recieved at the end because we all had different roles and its a team effort. We divide everything fairly and a significant number of us got to boost our skills to 6 or 7 this uni.
Not sure how Traders does it but looks like they stack everything on one or two characters, this is not necesarily fair to their teamates imo but it is smart and if their teamates dont care about it then more power too them. this creates a stat check divide between them and other teams for future contests.
I'm not saying SRX doesn't divvy stuff out fairly. But I've always held out that the system lacks rewards and it's pretty stagnant in terms of what's available. None of the rewards change based on total participation of the player base, they are the same if 10 people or 100 people participate across all teams.
We monitor the player base and participation uni over uni and will adjust the gal count and spawn rate as needed. It's not automatic, it's manual. but it's still something we will do.
We do the same thing for wild space gal count.
That's still a manual system so all rewards will lag behind the playerbase as participation increases. Has there been any consideration into ways you could automate it?
The way the surges work, does actally adjust based on participation automatically. When killed the AI respawn up to a respawn rate. More being killed the more are set to respawn.
so it has a considerable amount of flex for people all utilizing the layer
How would you tell if it's reached the cap or not as a player? I'm not sure i noticed much difference.
AI would be killed faster then they can respawn, you'd see multiple empty gals(not counting ones that were just murdered). I watched a lot of surge murdering(my main role this contest was scout) and it never happened.
You can't really tell if you don't know what you are looking for
It's a surge. the respawn rate is crazy high.
I felt like this was noticeable honestly. And I’m glad it’s a thing.
well, yes, titans aren't the pinnacle singleplayer ship, they're just the most expensive and extravagant ship period. If you're looking for solo for farming or such, then yeah you want a carrier or a maurader or something.
But those are a tiny fraction of the cost, so they don't illustrate the point that even if you go for the famous "$10,000 ship" that it's still easier than the imp skills.
you won't find a grind that matches up to imp skills outside of p2w mobile games
or korean MMOs
were you that one random soh player that would show up to watch us? (lil creepy tbh)
oh, okay. there was a neutral soh player that showed up all the time for us and I assume srx as well. didnt fight, wasn't relaying any info to anyone, just ... watched.
Yea he just likes to check it out. Funny enough he would troll us last contest with mini madness all the time 🤣
Cool dude though
i heard SRX/EmF/ and that other team i just cant remember had around 30 people in Voice Chat vs Traders 8 people
plz confirm
According to our spies we were relatively evenly matched in the amount of people on both sides. Sometimes we had 1 or 2 more than yall.
traders is 80% mc'd
Bro has the worst spies
Or the best. Got you guys thinking there was 30 of us in vc 🤣
Fluff those numbers haha
To be fair if ya add together all of cammys nicknames for me we proly were 30? 😄
Idk about that
the recordings don't lie 😄
peak NA timezone you guys had like 3x our players in 1 gal
while farming 2 others
You guys act like you're the only ones who MC haha.
I don’t think anyone is acting that way
ah right, so comparing number of characters to your number of players is a totally fair representation of player count. Got it.
Couldn't possibly be MC
was unaware traders has the same number of humans as 3 teams
I lost brain cells already
I tallied up how many total people we have and if you guys legitimately have 25 (of which only 18 or so actually went to anatolia this uni) people between three teams this might explain why you need three teams.
So you don't even know how many players we have, you're just guessing and putting it speculation.
Guys could we take this out of this channel
Sorry Roh.
Np
But, mooom
We don’t need 3 teams. We haven’t asked anyone to help us. Every single non-srx member you saw helping us in Anatolia asked us if they could join us. For both surge farming and overtime. People want to play with us and we want to play with them. At the end of the day, this is just a game and people have fun playing with each other even if we’re not on the same team. Having friends on other teams is great for that. We have fun together.
Srx has participated in 3 out of the last 4 Anatolia events and every single time we participate, we have given feedback on Anatolia and our opinion on how we think it can be better whether we win, lose, or are not truly competing (like we did the first time we stepped in). Devs have been working hard to change the zone because they know it’s not perfect but they try. I don’t see how player count is pertaining to feedback atm unless it’s related to crade’s earlier idea of a 5v5 arena. At the end of the day, this was the best version of Anatolia I’ve stepped into. I was a little sad it ended so soon but the devs have been taking the feedback seriously for years now and hopefully we’ll get an even better iteration of the zone from all the feedback given for next time.
We may just need to close this thread. Not sure there's more value at this stage
You’re right, my bad roh 😂 I was about to unfollow the thread anyway since I’ve given all the feedback I can for this anyway
I thiink there is still quite a lot to be garnered in insight from a discussion about anatolia. Both sides have in some parts brought up valid points for most recent and past anatolia engagements. For example: Team 1: How can we address a potential critical mass due to sheer amounts of characters in galaxies? Drone limit can and has been a big issue and teams have approached it from both sides. ie. Do we have all the drones down and how do we protect them? or, They have all the drones down and etc. etc. Also leads to issue of actual living player density.
The more active players participating the increase for reaction times and also amount of toons being used since mcing has become the mainstay of anatolia tactics. REGARDLESS of your opinion of whether it's legal/illegal on a eula scale it happens. Some cases it's been hinted (yelled) that it's outside programs interacting to accomplish the goal or multiple pcs and clients up with alt tabbing fury.
Someone in this whole point your fingers "discussion" made a suggestion about 5v5 or something to that effect. sorry hit enter too soon.
Maybe anatolia could be stages of different limitations until it's uncap time? day 1 : only speed demons can warp in day 2: only gunner and engi day 3: squads limited to 10 size per team. Day 4: random ai have a reflect damage buff that goes off every 1 minute during strat spawns.
Being that time zones are quite varied and people need sleep the above i typed are just to get people's creative thoughts processing to make this a productive thread, take this discard that insert something completely off the hinge. We have entirely too much finger pointing nowadays (myself being included). And each uni this discussion comes around so let's make it work instead of "you suck" "skill issue" "you have 800 people to our 20" sort of comments
I don't see the emperor contest ever being something that forces limited participation.
it's just not what that event is going for. Meant to be something the entire uni can take part in.
Something like that could be used for other activities, just not emperor.
our approach to keep it being "put tons of stuff in a gal" is to create multiple objectives across the layer that must be battle for at the same exact time
Having multiple routes to travel through the layer, multiple AI base points of interest, ect.
Like i said above my suggestions are just that suggestions. We have phases of many, many bosses. Phases of Emperor Contest might be a way to instill new strategies into the event. Not sure last time we had players die to ai in anatolia like we did early on before they were scaled down. That was unexpected to say the least. I am an advocate for "these gits support midas, they're going to do what they can to keep him in power" mentality.
The AI were over nerfed and that was the case for about.. 14 hours. They were then reverted to nearly their original power
While retaining the drop rate increases
AI bases being moved from aeolis, galatia, and thrace was a good move. Kept an element of "i'm still semi deep into this place and i'm never safe"
I've seen you talk about the AI nerfs a few times. Most others were happy with where they were after they were reverted.
The feedback you give about them is what i'd expect to get if they weren't mostly reverted less then 24 hour after they changed
I died like several did, during the earliest periods of the event . I adapated to increase survivability. Perhaps due to increased participation as the event went on it seemed that the ai weren't as dangerous as in the first few days. Only going by what I experienced during my time inside.
because they like you or because they are upset about getting killed in a space game outside of anatolia? 😄
Holy corrupted cyborg reach
you know, it doesn't really matter if you try to frame someone getting upset as silly; if you're going out of your way to make someone upset, you're the baddie.
its what I was told by a srx member
life is upsetting. life is fun. you complain a lot.
can't relate to that bit in the middle but the rest is true
