if you can decouple the graphic from the actual item
I can easily expose the ability to have different colours or image for the effect, which could be bound to on the stats.
and just have there be an equippable skin slot for each item

that way you can sell a cloak mtx that applies to all cloaks
engine mtx, etc
As in, we could make say... A cloak from Twisted (are there any?) green, or the bana cloaks red.

bobbo, what if you could give cloaked ships a blur effect when you cannot see or detect them? sort of like how invisible units work in starcraft

When ships get on the edge of your vision, they start to fade out and become translucent.
thats just a transparency slider though, not quite what he's referring to
Ships which aren't visible but are detectable instead render that white image of a spaceship.
yeah, but it doesnt cause distortion from light sources
