Haha this might be unholy to say but both soundtracks only have a few songs that stuck out to me. It’s actually funny but I first got interested in Doom because I found BFG Division on that meme about the vibrator that syncs up with your music. Besides that I just have Harbinger, Cyberdemon, and Damnation from 2016. I’ll give anything a re-listen if you think I’m missing an important track.

I don't think it's base tone. I guess there's a lot of fuzz. there is a lot of compression. There seems to be a bit of a delay, but I'm not so sure. Apart from these, I think there is a double bass recording. It's like there's a clean bass record on one side. So there is a clunky sound where we can feel the bass beats. There is also an extremely distorted tone. I don't know how they combined these 2 recordings, but I haven't heard such a nice bass tone in a long time.

As far as I can see, you're not one of those down-tuning addicts. The modern metal world disgusts me. Bass guitar has become meaningless because of 8-string guitars. As 8 strings became more common, they started switching to 9 strings, claiming to be looking for more "heavyness". Moreover, 9-string guitars are at the same frequency as 5-string bass guitars. When will they start saying why we can't be more "heavy" after 9-string guitars have become widespread? because you passed the bass guitar frequencies and made everything absurd? because you're neither guitar nor bass and you've become something of a freak?
deeds of flesh plays in d standard tuning. I haven't come across anything more intense and heavier than the deeds of flesh. I think beyond b standard is incredibly unnecessary.

This I agree with to an extent. Though I respect a few bands / artists that use extended range guitars to good effect (Meshuggah being an example), I see no point of getting myself an 8-string guitar at this point (I'd rather just get a baritone (27 inches) scale 6 or 7-string for increased tension, since they're essentially the same scale length as 8 string guitars), let alone a 9-string which I find completely pointless - they're just way too niche of an instrument. Even so, a guitar with a 25.5 inch scale length can go down to B or even A standard just fine with the appropriate strings and be almost the same as a 7-string (minus the high E string on a 7).
Though bands like Morbid Angel, Nile or newer Cannibal Corpse stuff (Barnes era CC was in D#) do tune down pretty low like in the A# or G# standard range (Drop A in Nile's case), I agree that you don't have to go low to sound heavy
hell, Cattle Decapitation tune their instruments to D# standard and they sound more intense than most bands I've heard

I think cannibal corpse's new jobs can't compete with old ones. Chris Barnes era was the cannibal corpse e-flat standard. Deicide is still in same tuning today. they have been in the e-flat standard since day one. I don't think they made an album heavier than The bleeding album. I think cannibal corpse's best work was the bleeding. I think the "heavyness" comes from the equalizer settings a bit. In its simplest form, in d standard tuning, if you turn up the trebles and turn the mids and basses all the way down, you get a black metal tone, while if you turn the bass up and down the mids and trebles, you get a sludge metal tone. Other than that, I think the main factor is the bass guitar. The reason why Crustpunk bands are a thousand times more energetic and tough than modern death metal bands is basically the d-beat rhythm that causes them to play the drums harder and the bass guitar to come to the fore and simple rhythms. Riffs made with tremelo picking create atmosphere but destroy all the harshness. because the picking stiffness is weakened. on the contrary, since picking hardness is strong in punk/groove rhythms, the effect is greater while listening. Also, technical/complex things that you cannot accompany prevent you from flowing into the music. That's why punky bands contain simple riffs, allowing you to accompany the rhythm and get immersed in the music. This is another factor affecting hardness. No matter how complex the music is, if it can't take you in, you're in the position of the outside observer. Simple music can take you in. When you get lost in the flow of music, you can feel that hardness. Because you become one with music. That's why most technical things, no matter how hard they claim, cannot go beyond the art of performance, while bands such as Motörhead, which are formed with the simplest riffs, can make millions jump.
This is actually the only reason why old school death metal bands are much more effective than technical death metal bands.

Well focus on atmosphere. Doom metal, espacially funeral doom is like a darksynth/darkwave/dark techno. If you focus guitar rythm or melody you cant flow music. Funeral doom actually darkest form of metal music in my opinions. Even darker than black metal in my opinions.
Think yourself meditation in the void of universe. You meditating in the absolute void and hear tyranny's music :)

I'm gonna be completely honest here (sue me) - I'm not all that big on bestial black metal (or brutal death to a lesser extent)
I like extreme subgenres like death metal (and some black) but not necessarily the subgenres listed above (I also listen to bands from other metal genres aswell)
for example, for death metal I tend to like bands that sound like death/cannibal corpse/morbid angel (floridian death metal), bolt thrower (mid-late era), entombed (swedish death metal), immolation (there are other bands I like within subgenres of death metal too, like Behemoth for blackened death, Opeth for progressive death and Nile for technical/brutal death) - melodic death I also like, but I barely consider it an extreme metal subgenre
and for black metal, Immortal and the like etc.
but I'm not huge into bestial black metal in general (Just like with funeral doom for example)
that said, some of the stuff you shared was pretty cool though not gonna lie @dusky fern (Demilich was cool for their avant-garde approach aswell as others like into the fucking grave, incantation for example 👍 )

Don't care so much about the production on your first songs. even if you caught a different sound, I like it more as a man who likes underground metal. I can say that mainstream band sounds disgust me. A death metal where everything is incredibly clean, in my opinion, goes against the essence of what is called death metal. If you don't see it as an extremely dirty sound, I think what you're doing is enough. At least you'll show the difference. I think it is better to have a different and original sound than the thousandth Cannibal corpse copy, the fifth thousandth whatchapel, slipknot etc. copy.
I especially see the technical death metal community as necrophagist clones, faceless clones etc. Take out 1-2 songs and ask technical death metal fans who haven't memorized what they're listening to, they probably can't tell who's who. Everything is standardized, down to the production quality. What you can say is that this group is different from that group is so little.
In the past, you used to deduce who could belong to what you were listening to, even just from the production. this is almost no longer possible.

meaning is not just about riffs. If I sing this song with scream vocals, if I read it with death growl vocals, if I sing it with guttural vocals, it will go to very different places.
Even the emphasis I will make while vocalizing can change the meaning a lot. What you do on the drum also changes a lot. While you can write a blast-focused drum and add an atmospheric theme, you can add more energy and fun by d-beat.
Meaning is a whole. It's not something you can just create with your guitar riffs. It is something that will be revealed at the end of the whole process. Considering that you are doing a solo project, you can give your own meaning. If there was a band, it would be something much different than you think, as everyone will add their own meanings.

I'm more of a punk guy. I love simple, groovy, punky, effective riffs. Complex riffs sound good if they're artistic. More precisely, if that complexity appeals to an emotion, it sounds beautiful. For example I like complexity like gorguts, demilich. Because what they do corresponds to a certain emotion and is not for show. What riffs like frantic disembowelment or archspire-style bands do seems like a show to me. Look, how complex and difficult I can play riffs. Bands like gorguts don't go out for 250 metronomes etc. what they play is complex, but it's not a show. What cannibal corpse etc bands do seems like a show to me. If you work hard, you can play complex things on the 300 metronome as well. but they don't serve anything in my eyes. What I see in general is this. this band had more practice than this band. They spent much more time with their instruments. I can't see more than that. There is no value in spending too much time with your instrument in my eyes. If you can create much more effective emotions with much simpler things, much more effective things for me.
