For years now this song has been a little personal tradition of mine, so I thought it was finally time that I animated this classic with my own spin to it!
Heavily inspired by Ann D-Vine, who made the original Gmod and SFM versions of this wonderful song by the Deadworkers, links below in that order:

ok my drumlines are not good enough to be the basis of a song
Built this song around the drumline as an experiment, like how my other song (Intrepid) was built around the bassline. It did not go well, I tried to make it a full song, I didn't know how to.

id argue doom is pretty beginner metal, its in one of the heavier subgenres, but its pretty accessible, and a lot of peoples first step into metal
mad man Mick tuned his guitar so low it became a percussion instrument
heavy af yeah, but its one of the more main stream instances of metal
This is far from mainstream. You could call bands like Sabaton, Five Finger Death Punch, or even Rammstein mainstream since they're pretty accessible for everyone.
This piece of music here, along with other heavy tracks from the same album, songs from Eternal as well, can be compared with other similar stuff, for example, such bands like Vildhjarta, Humanity's Last Breath... or Black Tongue, which, in my opinion, have some of the heaviest albums that I wouldn't dare to call beginner metal.
far from mainstream?
True true
Me irl and my music taste are drastically different things
that goes for a lot of modern metal heads
That doesn't mean anything at all. These are popular tracks indeed. Yet this subgenre still remains relatively niche compared to the more established subgenres like classic heavy metal or thrash. So yeah, it's not mainstream.
the subgenre is a niche, i didnt say it wasn't, but the doom soundtrack is very popular, popular = mainstream

yeah i do that all the time, probably some of the most practical theory to learn
i tend to stay away from it, usually because it just sounds bad UNLESS you are trying to make your piece sound evil? if you know what i mean
its a really hard thing to get right
yup
either thats massively compressed or you're using too many cymbals, since it sounds like its matching the kick
What.?...
cymbals peak at around -14dB while kick is at -10, which is 4 db more, so that's simply not possible. I just allocated a place for cymbals after 10 kHz, so it doesn't conflict with anything
it could be the second thing then, since i dont got the project files or anything but it sounds like theres a cymbal or hihat for every kick
I can send isolated drum track just to show that there is not
go ahead i wont stop you
Oh yeah i hear that. Probably sent too much kick to OH in this mix or it just might be argent compressor messing it up
I dunno about snare though. Might have to sidechain it's punch with bass

The progress so far. There's still one more part left and those glitchy sounds.
sounds awesome, only feedback I'd give would be that I think the drums drown out a bit of the very first riff, from about 0-3 seconds in
ok, I'll see what I can do
i am loving this server
This is the closest I could get. Unfortunately it's just guitars, drums and bass, but essentially bfg-10000 is 80% of that, so ig it's fine...

i remember i was doing one a while ago, and it had a lot more songs
i have 227 audio file, flac quality remastered and original
For those who are curious and don't know, these 11 tracks are the official soundtrack of doom eternal that was supposed to be released. However, the original files were almost impossible to find, as they had gone through compression by id software and were then reuploaded multiple times on various platforms such as youtube... which resulted in further compression. So, I downloaded them directly from Mick's official website. I can say that these are the original, high-quality files because they're Mick's direct upload. I visually and auditorily compared them to other versions uploaded on youtube and other platforms, and can say that Mick's versions are objectively better. All the dynamics and details, high end details are preserved, unlike in the flat overcompressed versions you may have heard before. This is basically the best quality you can find on the internet, currently.
||As far as I know, Mick just recently returned the doom eternal section to his site, and even later he attached his soundtrack. So before that it was impossible to find it, only the version by Id Software.||
Stable source 320 kbps bitrate files:
That’s not necessarily true. Owners of the Collector’s Edition OST were able to get ahold of the FLAC versions of these mixes. By virtue of being encoded in a lossy audio codec, these are still compressed. I can link the lossless quality versions of these mixes
Here is every single in-game stem from DOOM 2016, DOOM Eternal, and The Ancient Gods Pt. I & II. I've also contained the DOOM 2016 Official Soundtrack and the DOOM Eternal Collector's Edition Soundtrack (including the above mixes) in lossless audio quality. Furthermore, I've also linked Mick Gordon's COVID livestream where he debuted the metal choir scratch track, his remix of the DOOM 3 intro music, and the alpha Super Gore Nest music (lovingly titled 264bpm by the community). This is the highest quality material available, outside tracks officially produced by Mick, Andrew, or David. If anyone tries to convince you that they have material of a higher audio quality, they're either lying or extremely skilled at music production. Enjoy (just take out the spaces between / and drive, and google and .com in the following link): https:// drive.google .com/drive/folders/1YFK1F78hlBCBn652owm-XYCbSk_h_Hw8?usp=drive_link
Comparing these two versions, it seems that what was provided by you is a parody of the soundtrack from an incompetent employee at Id. Objectively, what was provided by you is a fierce compression of the source files which could not have been in FLAC format initially. Also, converting the file format manually does not improve the quality and instead adds artifacts.
Just compare these 2 tracks and draw the conclusion yourself. The first is what you attached "the best quality possible". And 2 is what I downloaded from Mick's website.
I have also attached a screenshot of the track visualization so that you can see for yourself the effects of Chad Mossholder's compression on your version.
It's just 1db quieter lol
can literally see how flat it is compared to the uncompressed one
Turn the MP3 down 1db and see what it does to the waveform
Absolutely flat.
Chad's work sucks, man...
Bro, it's not Chad's work. The metadata demonstrates that
Chad was featured as a co-author
Not on Cultist Base, TOTTFIY, Meathook, Command & Control/Arrival on Phobos, The Betrayer, DOOM Eternal, Welcome Home Great Slayer/A Sign of Evil, Icon of Sin, Prayer of the Diminished, A Cultist Prayer/Viceroy to the Chaos Throne, and Sinister he wasn't
then why is there no compression in the version from the site? If you're implying that it was Mick who compressed it. Who did that, and why.
Mick probably shipped it 1db quieter back in March 2020. In the example of the FLAC Cultist Base, it's at 1836kbps. By virtue of being in a lossy format, the mixes on Mick's site are, by definition, compressed. Just because it has a more distinct high end, it doesn't mean it's uncompressed; far from it
It kinda sounds like you're denying the existence of the CE OST, which is a bit ridiculous
You're talking about digital compression. What's visualized is audio compression. You can clearly see that it's dynamic range is flattened, making, as you said, the high end less distinct.
I also cannot confirm that the files were originally in this format
And digital compression results in a loss of audio quality, this is a fact. It's just 1db quieter
Bro, you're just complaining about how the waveform looks
you clearly have no idea what compression does to the waveform
I've seen Chad's mixes, I really do know what compression does to a waveform. This isn't it pal
Simply put, the quiet parts become louder while the loud parts become quieter, which is what compression is. This is clearly visible, pal. It's f l a t.
chad probably put some mix bus compressor on top, not really caring about the result
and then straight to the CE folder
The lighter shade of purple is the RMS value of the track. For our purposes, it essentially demonstrates the volume that each individual sine wave is playing at. Do you see how during the opening, the lighter shade of purple is bigger than the following light combat? That means the loud parts are loud and the quiet parts are quiet
which is which
The exact effect of compression in the top track. The quiet part in the very beginning was compressed to be louder, that's right, bravo.
and in the lower one it remains as quiet as it should be
You’re kinda just being purposefully obtuse now. You know for a fact I meant the heavy combat music, but you’re choosing to be a square. Not cool man
it's just objective. At this point it’s simply stupid to deny the presence of compression
Mate, that very opening chunk with the pitch at the beginning is the exact same in the MP3 (for clarity, I boosted the FLAC version by 1db to demonstrate)
erm you can tell at this scale
Are you aware that Mick shipped the 2016 OST at -0.3db? It's not unlikely for him to ship the tracks he mixed for Eternal at -1.0db
You can tell from here too then, huh?
In fact, the MP3 looks more compressed by virtue of the fact that there's scarcely any - for lack of a better word - valleys between the beats
you just showed yourself clear compression, there's no point in proving it otherwise. And no, i can't even tell at this point which track is which at this scale. Can clearly see more dynamics in the bottom one
Don't even fib yourself buddy
i mean, you just proved the opposite to your self. At this point it's really kinda stupid.
I think what you're failing to realise is that the FLAC version is just an older mix. You can tell by the incongruent tempos. So what you're complaining about has nothing to do with compression and everything to do with being a less up-to-date mix. No matter how you spin it though, the FLAC Cultist Base is still lossless
they also have different target loudness
can clealry see the dampened transients in this one as well
You're proving my point that the FLAC is just an older mix lol
I don’t need to prove anything, you proved everything. There's just no point in arguing about this anymore lmao.
Not really champ. It's still lossless
In fact, I can’t check now whether they were actually originally in this format and with the same bitrate, since anyone can edit the files. And by ear, I would say that an mp3 file with a bitrate 320 has more details than than the flac, which may indicate that the bitrate or the format was simply manually changed by Chad for example. I wouldn't be surprised.
Now you're just throwing shit to the wind. Nowhere in Mick's medium article does it state that the tracks he produced for the CE OST were tampered with outside of changing the file name. That's a pretty massive hole in your argument brother
There's also a hole in your argument since the version i sent lacks the compression that you pretty much found yourself in the CE version, which means that there have been changes besides the name. That's just simply bullshit.
Prove it. Get Mick on the horn and demonstrate without a shadow of a doubt that his work was tampered with before being shipped. I'd love to see it
you proved it yourself when you compared the 2 tracks 😭
The burden of proof is on you to support your hypothesis that Mick's work was compressed by Chad Mossholder before the CE OST was published. Go ahead
i'm not questioning Mick's direct upload to his own site. You just proved yourself that Chad put some compression on it after all. Yet you're stating that there weren't any changes beside the file name...
would you rather call a file that wen't through id's shit more original than a direct upload by the composer
Occam's Razor dictates that the FLAC is an older mix. This is supported by the following statements:
- Mick was given a very short deadline to produce his 12 tracks for the CE OST per the contract that Bethesda assigned him.
- He had to miss out on family time to produce these 12 tracks and get very little sleep under his desk in his office.
- The CE OST released on the 20/4/2020, and the mixes uploaded to Mick's site became available around mid-2024.
- Chad Mossholder’s only known contribution to the CE OST is his 47 arrangements and changing at least two of the titles Mick used for select ambient tracks.
- The MP3 mix is at a slightly different tempo to the FLAC mix.
Your conclusion is that Mick is infallible and someone else was fucking around with his music, despite never mentioning it in his open letter. Given that they were songs he was contracted to produce, it's a pretty massive claim that someone went in and tampered with them because you don't like how the waveform looks. Never once did it occur to you that Mick was crunched, couldn't produce his usual quality, sent over his tracks to meet Bethesda's contract so he could get paid and put the whole thing behind him, only to revisit his tracks later and upload them to his website in (my opinion) worse quality and in an inferior audio codec.
Before you respond, it boils down to you claiming that even more corporate sabotage was occurring and Mick would just casually forget that music he slaved over was tampered with further. Please sit with that before responding
Did it not bother you that even those songs in the CE ost that were constructed from in-game score chunks, which have a fairly low bitrate, also have a flac format with the same bitrate as Mick's tracks? Why do you think Chad couldn't change the bitrate of Mick's tracks, just like he did with his game-rip remixes, and accordingly, why do you think he wouldn't then throw a compressor on top of Mick's work, like he did with his part of the ost? Knowing how objectively incompetent Chad is... I think there is definitely no logical sense to continue anything further here. Dm if you wish this to keep this going, because i don't.
Because there’s no proof of it. Your ideas are all well and good, but unless you can incontrovertibly support them with a comment from Mick, Chad, or anyone associated with the DOOM Eternal CE OST, your hypothesis means nothing. I can’t in good faith agree to slander someone further without solid proof of your hypothesis happening. Frankly, it’s not fair. To address your comment about the in-game score chunks having the same bitrate as Mick’s mixes, it all depends on how it’s exported. Hell, I’ve constructed the Eternal score myself using in-game stems, and the bitrates for those tracks vary from 1300-1800kbps when encoded as FLAC. I don’t understand what you’re getting at with this point. I’m fine to leave it here
i was about to correct you, then i scrolled like 2 messages up lmao
do you really need proof for a sound designer editing sounds?
Mick wasn't directly implementing it to my knowledge, the most we know about it is that he sent wise files, which implies he was sending them, for them to implement, Chad could see it and desire to edit it, because that's his job, he's a sound designer
You're confused. I'm addressing the claim that the tracks Mick produced for the CE OST were tampered with by Chad Mossholder after being sent to id Software. This is a massive claim from yarik that has no easily verifiable or easily researched evidence. Instead, the most parsimonious explanation for the discrepancy between the FLAC mixes and the material uploaded to Mick's site is that the FLAC mixes are just older and were made during a time of crunch
And my response is confused because...?
There is no evidence that says Chad messed with it, at least I don't feel like looking up for it, that doesn't mean it didn't happen, you don't need direct evidence for everything, you can make connections based on other pieces of evidence, Chad Mossholder works for id Software as an audio designer, to say he tampered with it after being sent to id implies he is independent from id. Chad would have been one of the last ones working on it due to, again the fact he works for id. It is not a very big leap of logic to believe that Chad could have edited Mick's work.
ok so i was looking back at mick gordon's letter and it literally says Chad used/had access to Mick's tracks in the ost.
Right, absolutely. Prove that Chad tampered with them though
If Mick took special care to note where Chad edited the titles of select ambient tracks and gave himself credit, then don’t you think Mick would also mention that the songs he submitted were compressed by Chad? We’re retreading old ground here
...
what do you want me to get security footage
...
-
Chad has Mick's track
-
Many believe that Mick's are of the best quality
-
Chad has to finish the OST
please connect these dots, it is not that hard to realize that Chad may have gone through mick's tracks, and since he is the one making the ost now, he did what he wanted to do
How would Mick know? "The final album, and its details, were withheld from me..." (from his letter) He would have no reason to check the tracks for compression, especially after all the burnout from the controversy
actually i may have misread that
One detail is a lot more noticable than the other, compression is hard to notice (example:you), so it is reasonable to believe Mick would not have checked
Mate, I’ve already listed the points that demonstrate there is no concrete evidence that Chad tampered with Mick’s submitted mixes outside of changing the title. Again, retreading old ground.
By the same token, how would Mick know that his track titles were changed if he didn’t have access to the CE OST? He does have access, as he has listened to them, evidenced by his open letter
You’re speculating on the inner workings of a video game OST that you have no involvement in. You don’t know the full story and neither do I. Instead of playing around with details, I’m just accepting what’s given to me until more concrete evidence is presented. That’s how this works
If you need proof that Mick has access to the FLAC downloads of the CE OST, then look no further than his medium article, where he included screenshots of select tracks that Chad assembled for the CE OST. In fairness, there’s no way to know that Mick didn’t just download these off YouTube and changed the name of the file, but, that doesn’t really help your case either
And I've listed the points that can be used to make a logical conclusion that Chad could have edited those tracks. 3 messages ago.
I'm not saying Mick doesn't have access to the OST, I'd be dumb if i did as scrolling down to the next section reveals he listened to it.
Again, a title change is extremely obvious for anyone, adding a compressor is not, you would need to compare the tracks, which again, Mick most likely did not do, as he already had plenty of burnout, and found out about unfair payment.
On the message below the one I'm replying to, this makes no sense, it implies no-one can theorize about the inner working of things they're not apart of, which they can, because we have part of the story to draw conclusions from.
Given that your claim has fewer lines of evidence, it’s nowhere near as well backed as mine. That’s how parsimony and supporting a claim works.
Mick is well-experienced in mixing, mastering, and composing. If one person on Discord suggests that the music is compressed, then surely the artist who assembled said music would make a note of that in his open letter, especially as it pertains to a legal contract. Given that this didn’t happened, I disagree that the tracks Mick assembled for the CE OST were compressed by Chad.
You’re allowed to “theorise” (hypothesise really), but you’re using your imagination to fill in the blanks instead of taking the information presented at face value, and then forming a conclusion. This is what we like to call confirmation bias, where you already have a conclusion in mind (i.e. Chad is an asshole), and then using extraneous elements to support that conclusion. You’re not using the facts presented by Mick, you’re just relying on your feelings. I’m not going to discuss this with you further as you fail to fully understand my previous statements
To reuse a line I stated earlier; “I can’t in good faith agree to slander someone further without solid proof of your hypothesis happening. Frankly, it’s not fair.”
If you wanna end this, sure, I do want to say a last few things though.
I completely agree with the last point about slander, i personally have tried not to badmouth Chad as, I dont like being negative, and I have not heard much of his work to make a conclusion as his ability as an artist, since he worked heavily with Mick iirc on Doom 2016 as more of a buddy, I am inclined to believe he is a good artist, as he inspired Mick on 2016
I have not really been full force on supporting what I believe, I agree with that as well.
I think there's not really a proper conclusion to this argument, as this just comes down to how one takes evidence, whether to speculate about what one can't confirm, or to believe only what is confirmed, thinking about it a bit more, I want to recognize that both are valid, I don't want to come out of this being super aggressive, unlike how I may have been in the middle of it.
That’s more than fine and I respect your decision. You’re right, it does come down to how evidence is analysed. I’m also not on the Chad hate bandwagon. I’ve used it as examples to support my thesis, but I really don’t think it’s warranted. I appreciate you taking the time to have a chat
Glad this ended positively
You can't prove otherwise. Your points have little to do with what you said. I would also like to return to point 5. The tracks have the same tempo, but if you looked closely, you could have noticed that they don't start at the same time. If you synchronize their beginnings, then you will see for yourself that the tempo is the same. Before making an argument, you should at least check the information.
My statements are based on facts, not someone else's words. All you have to do is to compare Mick's files with ID's files to understand how ID messed it up. It's overly compressed, as was the entire CE album, which was Chad's responsibility. It is foolish to argue that the supposed versions sent by Mick to Id in 2020 and the version from his website differ, without any actual evidence to support your claim. You cannot know this for sure since the file went through ID, so it's impossible to know what it was like before ID potentially worked on it. Therefore, your arguments are unfounded and don't have any factual basis.
Also, returning to the nonsense you said, all the chunks from in-game score are already sufficiently compressed. Changing the format to flac will not magically restore the already lost data. Therefore, it is nonsensical to try and do so, as the file will take up more storage without any improvement in sound quality. It seems that you know very little about files and the ways of converting them...
Brother, leave it be. I don't agree with you in the slightest. You're incredibly obtuse to deal with and I frankly don't care anymore. Download the files or don't, just fuck off
Lmao, of course you don't. What would i expect from someone who doesn't even know what he's talking about... Should have at least a basic understanding of what you’re talking about before making arguments. Relying on someone else’s documents doesn’t make sense when there are obvious facts to support the information right in front of your eyes. For example, the presence of compression in the tracks from Id is clear evidence, which you have literally shown yourself, but then later denied it, claiming that "Mick didn’t write about it in his post" Well, he most likely just didn’t write about this just to avoid confusing people like you, who don’t know shit about music and the related terminology. He simply stated the fact that his work in general was tampered with in a clear and understandable way for everyone to understand. There's really nothing more that needs to be known than that, the post is clearly not about all that.
Whatever... 🍪
You made your point, well done. Now what?

oh by the heavens have blested our ears just one thing maybe speed it up
Rip and Tear is my #1 fav doom track and you can't change my mind.
My main issue with it is that I've heard it so many times on YT and such that I've actually sorta grown to dislike it.
Though, Hellwalker is my personal favorite track from series, just under I Sawed The Demons.
Rip and Tear is overused yeah, it's too good for me to hate tho
same with most of the popular doom tracks, personally i gotta say like immora because it sounds like a doom version of One by Metallica https://youtu.be/apK2jCrfnsk?t=271

is it just me or is all the original doom ost just thrash and groove metal? im bad at identifiying genres, maybe its just their influences were popular bands at the time, who were bands that played those subgenres, suprised i dont see more heavy metal in it
a lot (but not all) of it was influenced by popular rock and metal bands of the time
feels so like trapped to its time because of that, to be fair im not expecting anything like today's metal

are you sure you'll be able to get those effects inside the midi, reverb iirc doesnt translate
@spiral hazel thanks for the new ringtone 🤣
I'll probably have to switch the sf2 (current one I'm using is supposed to be an accurate sc-55 sf2, yet has reverb) when I port it to the actual WAD, hopefully I'll find a more accurate one, as of now even in the DAW I'm using, putting reverb to 0% still has some reverb, which is what leads me to think it's the sf2 at fault here-
try scc1t2, download it online if you dont trust my file
Wow... ok thx a million, not only does this fix the problem, but the accuracy is immaculate, not to mention this sf2 has like, twice the amount of instruments then the old one i had, I'll send the fixed versions of my tracks in a sec

These are similar. At Doom's Gate is in 2016, in the game, album, etc, but this other one I can't find a name or source for. I've just called it "Doom's Other Gate", and I assume it's Mick's but it's not in many places and nowhere official to my knowledge.
This track happened somehow by accident ,
but that only makes him better
Written by Me
maybe later i upload this on spotify
Enjoy and comment!
that sounds like the gdc version
The what?
It wasn't gdc, it was one of the trailers for 2016, im trying to find it rn
Alright
I saw it in a video by liam triforce but i can't find it
https://youtu.be/_0IYZnKkSss?t=187 not liam triforce, this is where i remember this from, can't find a source though
Doom hit a bit of an Identity Crisis after Doom 3 came out, and while Doom 2016 took it back to its Roots, the road to 2016 was a rocky one to put it lightly.

Classic DOOM-inspired midi track I made, retro-style

You managed to make a very confused-sounding MIDI that wouldn’t be out of place in a haunted house-themed Mario Kart track

Bonus level energy, nice work

working on something cool. It's actually based on my old 2023 demo. However there is still a lot of mixing and other stuff to be done
Made this a little while back, just updated the mixing and sound design to fit more with The Dark Ages. Yes, all of the instruments are MIDI, however I did do extensive layering and mixing to get as close as I could to that chainsaw-guitar tone

Nice!
Both tracks are similar in that they are groove-based, and yet so different. One is more of an ambient track, describing the vast locations of Exultia, not counting the heavy parts. The other objectively describes a more intense setting, as it literally takes place in a demon base, always keeping you on edge. Both tracks are so unique, so I would just leave it at that; they are both equally masterpieces.
Also Taras Nabad iirc. Both locations are quite large.
The entire ancient gods soundtrack
I'd call meathook more djenty while cultist is more industrial, so its mainly what genre you prefer, personally i prefer djent so I say meathook
I Sawed The Demons
Okay… to actually answer your question, I do prefer Cultist Base
https://youtu.be/_Q9Ss5zZU4k?t=90 why is it the same exact tone (1:30)

dream theater is so underrated imo
They're my favorite band but i wouldn't really call them underrated
One of mine too, I just mean in the sense that they have a fraction of popularity compared to some pop artists
@vocal python
In that sense, yeah i'd agree, imagine if they collabed with taylor swift, portnoy did a drum video on one of taylor swift's song, and i think it was her bassist that played caught in a web
Was that on drumeo?
Makes sense that Taylor Swift's musicians would like dream theater
yeah, wonder if they'll do more pop stuff in the future, i walk beside you from octavarium was a lot brighter than most of DT's stuff and i really enjoyed it
thats the nice thing about prog metal.. there really aren't a lot of boundaries
Opens my eyes to a lot of stuff, periphery doesnt focus too much on prog but they got me into a lot of harsher vocals
ppl like to hate on slipknot, but they really were a stepping stone for me into a lot of harsh vocals.. now i cant get enough of it
I haven't listened to much slipknot yet, only their self titled album, but it felt weird in a really nice way
a lot of harder metal truly is an acquired taste.. i used to make fun of my friends who listened to it, but they would force me to listen to it, and one day it just clicked
i used to hate slipknot, death or cannibal corpse, but now i love it 😅
I still haven't gotten on to much death metal yet, i've been focusing a lot on thrash and prog, since i only really started getting into metal last year, before that it was just osts
nah, definitely to each their own, music is is funny that way, im mostly talking about when i was young and immature, but it's hard to convince ppl that your music is better, or their music is bad
it has to speak to you
I'm like really respectful to my friends stuff, they listen to rap and stuff like that, doesn't really feel right the way rock/metal does, i usually only really talk about rock/metal as a joke, yet they randomly say how they just can't get into rock that well, no idea why
don't really wanna paint the picture that they are being disrespctful about it though, most the time they aren't
yeah, music is very subjective, like i listen to a lot of rap too.. i listen to a lot of different stuff, but theres some newer rap or hiphop that i just dont understand at all, but thats why music is funny, it just clicks for certain ppl differently
I don't really know why i don't like rap, i'm fine with the percussion stuff, i listen to polyphia, works well when they use it, i'm fine with rap vocals, rage against the machine is awesome, but when they come together it just feels kinda boring
maybe its cause i haven't really listened to rap with the intent to enjoy it, mostly just like hearing snippets of the popular songs off ig notes and on peoples speakers
pretty much all the music on my playlist i listen to with the intent to be a fan
it was just my generation.. when i was 12-14 years old, eminem and limp bizkit were huge asf, late 90s, early 2000s, gangsta rap was huge.. but i always loved grunge and thrash metal back then too, then the metal tastes just started evolving... like ive heard polyphia too and its just not my thing, but i really dont care if someone likes it, thats their thing, and i truly do respect the talent those guys have too
who am i to tell someone they are wrong
I kinda found myself getting bored of polyphia after a few months
yea, it just doesnt speak to me, i mean its definitely talent and sounds kind of cool, but it doesnt give me those goose bumps that other songs/artists give me
Yeah, I'm a really big fan of songs that feel really big/dynamic, one - metallica, wax wings - periphery, marigold - periphery, finally free - dream theater, in the name of god - dream theater, so it ends up being a lot of my favorite bands have a lot of those, again dt and muse have a lot of those, and they're my favorites
yeah, dream theater has such epic songs, ive been a fan of them for a long time, seen them live a cpl of times too, but they just make my whole body react to the music.. i know i am a big fan of bands that other ppl dont like either, but it just doesnt matter to me anymore.. one band that i rly love that seems to have a lot of haters too is trivium
the singer and guitarist of that band too always talks about john pertucci being a major infuence
i missed out on dt live feburary, im so sad i looked back on the setlist and it was so good
they just came by me very recently too.. but i hate going to concerts during the cold/winter months.. they just got mike portnoy back too, so it was hard passing on it, i hope they come back again in the warmer months 😄
the next show im debating on is in flames/machine head at the end of april
its kinda hard for me to go to shows, im just a 14 year old with very little money so i have to convince my dad to buy the tickets, so i can't really go to more expensive shows, its why i missed out on dt
oh damn, yeah that definitely makes it harder.. im at the prime age of 37 now and my issue is finding ppl who want to go to shows with me 😄 but ive started to go to shows solo now lol
breaking benjamins coming a few days after my birthday... maybe i could splurge a bit, tickets aren't too bad
sick talk but im afraid going any longer is probably risking being too off-topic, even if it still is metal, so probably should end it here, or like switch it to messages
those prices are definitely fair... thats my only issue with the bands i like getting more popular.. the ticket prices just start getting ridiculous
ehh.. i wouldnt worry about being off topic here.. were at least talking about music
still i've been warned for stuff another mod was fine with talking about, and im kinda tired tbh, so im gonna stop, nice talking
definitely, keep it metal! 🤘 don't let others influence your tastes
a recreation of the song Into Sandy's city changed into a win theme when exiting a level
sorry if it did not load as an audio and as a midi
it's not a music vid but what's the name of the track played at 40:55 cuz it sounds fire as hell

You guys approved the idea of doing a more authentic cover of Infernal Chasm. Well, here we are!

I dont no why
But
The 7 mix of original Mick soundtrack for Doom Eternal is in Spotify
In truth, it's such a mess that I don't even know if it's Mick's Mixes.
But no big deal.
It's like the same music from the game. And what they have on the Spotify album is like less than 10% of the original music.
But hey, 10% of perfection is better than 0.
It's such a fan thing that "the only thing they fear is you" doesn't even get a proper ending cut.
But oh well.
For any Doom fan waiting for this album, it's better than nothing.
Well, after several listens with different audio sources...
Yes, the mix of this album uploaded by a fan isn't great.
But hey...
Let's just say it's a dream that one day Mick and ID will reconcile.
And that Mix will finish his final mix.
For now, we can dream as we may.
One day, one day
only tottfiy is

Because the game is 22 levels long and there’ll be lots of cutscenes, then it’s possible we get 3 tracks per level (cutscene track, ambience, combat theme), resulting in a 66 track long album. This doesn’t include Chad Mossholder’s contributions either. I think 66+ tracks is a bit excessive. Instead, I think a more reasonable 42 is in the cards. I can’t see this soundtrack being much larger than Mick’s 31 track long 2016 OST
We'll also have music for hidden or future modes, or for a HUB. They have lots of surprises in store for us!
There won’t be a hub as the levels progress in a linear fashion, much like 2016. However, music for DLC(s) will likely be unavailable at launch. There’ll probably also be some intermission music as well

should I continue this
Not really doom-inspired, more like vice versa. Like, you can’t tell me Mick wasn’t inspired my Meshuggah

VST Cover
Idk how I did tho, it’s my first attempt to cover something in fl like at all
What VST are you using?
Guitars - Ample Metal Hellrazer + Fortin Nameless Suite amp (Tho I think some pricy Shreddage 3 Hydra or Argent might fit more. Haven't tried 'em)
Bass - Solemn Tones Kraken Hybrid
Drums - FPC with random samples lol
i saw it on twitter and was mouthwatering over it for a good 15 minutes
Same
so there was a guitar in this track after all
Knew it was an ample one
this seems promising
gonna be melodic argent metal?
Yeah, went so heavy here my free sample bass couldn't handle it, I had to use an octave pedal
this sounds like a combo of doom music and Ozzy Osbourne in the best way possible, keep it up!
this is a lot of fun
Absolute banger!!
Doom TDA's album will have 35 tracks, that's 4 more than 2016 but 20 months longer than Eternal without DLC

It was someone who uploaded the Infernal Chasm song from Doom: The Dark Ages. Idk how he got it, but he did.
Speaking of Infernal Chasm, I wonder what’s going on here
They gave raw wav files of the soundtrack. I don't know if it's legal but I just want to share them here lol.
https:// drive.google .com/drive/folders/1mNzHcCIKA-_6z9vj0lb5zcdPiBtpHuXu (remove the spaces)
sometimes take a break from metal and just play this while on eternal
And I tell you what, I’m very okay with that. I’m actually rather surprised by the quality of the in-game stems too. Nowhere near as compressed as previous artist’s
It's finally here!!
Dude I can’t believe finishing move didn’t remove the awkward pauses in Unchained Predator and Infernal Chasm 🤦. Time to remix

loved it
DOOM: The Dark Ages OST:
HI Bro ! Subscribe, support the author of the channel !!!!!
Freshly out of the oven and more coming 🙏
What are your favorite tracks from The Dark Ages OST?
Mine right now are Infernal Chasm, Unholy Siege, When The Shadows First Lengthened, and Unchained Predator.
Ye... It was kinda great in the first half, and then it sounded like they ran out of ideas and started shredding the guitar without thinking abt variation. I got some good ones but I'm pretty dissapointed with how it turned out. Maybe if we tell them abt this, they can improve on the dlc or maybe hire a different composer. I barely heard classic doom references too, it's a shame.
It’s certainly no mick Gordon but I’m liking it so far
Not a fan of some of the slowness but it’s whatever, I also think there are to many “build up” moments
agreed. Also, probably something most people don't care about that much in a doom soundtrack, but the ambient was basically nothing. Like some of the most catchy stuff in previous games was what played outside of combat, when you can actually listen to it and are not focusing on the gameplay. It's just quiet droning and thats it. I also hoped for more inclusion of classical elements, at least I assumed that from what we heared before release, but there are only like 2 moments outside of the teasers where violins and horns are contributing and even that was forgettable.
Ye almost all ambience is foreboding but that's the only quality you can give it. I hate to be this type of person. But they could've done better, and they can for next time. Again there's some I really like
From the ashes
When the shadows first lengthened
Unholy siege
Infernal chasm
Into the void
Then they drop off in quality and it's a bunch of riffs without substance. I really, really didn't wamt this to be thr case but it's reality. Either they improve drastically for the dlc(please release it unlike tag) or maybe hire someone else.
Speaking of remixing tracks https://youtu.be/pKAl5P9mPcY?si=yVWzmUpHLhJJtHUr

Ah, my favorite track, can't wait to listen to it
Oh wow that was fast!! This is so cool.
Let me know if you guys have any questions about the OST!! 👊
Sorry to ask, if you do unholy siege, could you try overlaying the female choir of the main galloping riff. FM didn't do that and I was a bit sad but maybe you can?
Fuck yeah! You legend, thank you! I’ll have to write all of them down and send them your way
If it fits, absolutely. I’m only really familiar with the Infernal Chasm stems at the minute, so once I familiarise myself with all the other bits and pieces and how they can fit with each other, I’ll certainly start tackling that sort of thing
Awesome, thank you
Hey Alex, first off, hats off to you and the team, I can tell there was a lot of love that went into the whole ost. And I really don't envy you, you had to fill some bigfoot sized boots. My question, do you know the band Humanity's last breath and were they an inspiration? Because the guitars really remind me of them.
Yesss, DM or ask here any time!
Hey! Ah thank you so much for the kind words.
Yes! I actually did an artist deal with Hapas guitars, and used Buster Odeholm’s signature Ashen guitar on parts of the OST.
I see, that explains the thall sound
Yeah went there for the deepest, darkest sections. But mainly explored the earlier roots of heavy metal, thrash, Swedish black metal etc for the rest of it (to match the prequel/ancient vibe).
Were there some classic doom references, and how many? If not, maybe you could consider having a variety of those in the dlc. Sorry for what I said earlier it's just my feelings
Mhm yeah, specifically for the cosmic realm I'm guessing. I mean the latest cover art of Humanity's last breath literally looks like it could be artwork from that part of the game lol. Yeah all the other influences make a lot of sense for the setting. Happy I caught on to that
I gotta say, one of our doom composers having a cat profile is metal lol
Arising is a trend of DOOM composers with cats that steal the show; first David and Andrew, and now Alex. I wonder if the Brians have cats too
I feel like what I said was harsh but is it appropiate to give criticism so early? What do you say, could they've done better, and if they can, I want them try smt else for the dlc
Still want to watch sort of interview of them maybe a kiwi talks interview
I think the criticisms you might have come from the OST still being new to you. It doesn’t help that there are some problems in game of the score being drowned out by SFX and an occasional bug where no music plays at all (in fact, I thought this was a deliberate choice in Harbor of Souls). This makes for an unfortunate experience where if you were to play the game as presented to you, then you’re going to have an even more difficult time getting used to the new sound for the OST. I recall getting confused between Meathook and TOTTFIY when they first came out because they’re both tracks that feature heavy syncopation, playing over the bar line, have descending synth melodies, and are arranged similarly. In retrospect, these are fundamentally different tracks, so the confusion I had is silly. I feel as though a lot of people are going to experience the same thing with The Dark Ages
Point of the matter is to let the dust settle, refocus, and appreciate the intricacies of each track. Do yourself a favour and boost the music volume, drown out the SFX, and set the audio mix to headphones. You’ll have a better time
I haven't played the game yet, this is based on the spotify track, it's why I could name the songs off rip cuz they stuck. I think mix wise it's fantastic but I personally feel they could've done more, especially when it comes to references. Is it ok to ask more for a dlc, especially considering they won't have to produce as much.
Don't get me wrong I really like about 6-8 of them, I think infernal chasm and the menu theme stick but it's just my personal opinion.
And I’m sure that opinion will evolve through time too. I think Finishing Move did a wonderful job and they should be commended for their efforts. It’s just exciting that we have phenomenally mixed DOOM music to enjoy
Brian White is also an absolute cat fiend
RE criticism, TOTALLY fine to critique the OST (even if I'm here). To me, art isn't a zero sum game, I'm totally fine with some preferring a different style or direction. I have so much love for the other DOOM OSTs, but we just did our best to carve our own path and do what we thought was best for the setting and gameplay.
It's a biiiiig long OST, so a lot of cool moments get lost in the mix, and the thoughts and intentions aren't always obvious. Hoping to do a lot more BTS walkthroughs and answer questions diving into all the nerdiness.
Having to package all of that up into a 2hr 15min runtime of “greatest hits”, so to speak, can’t be easy either. I really appreciate your frankness here, Alex
I agree, having a well mixed different direction is awesome. All I ask is maybe next time(dlc), we have some homages to the previous composers, as an ultimate love letter for doom games. I'm grateful for the stuff I do get to jam to.
Really looking forward to breakdown vids and interviews I like when composers get nerdy it makes me appreciate things I haven't heard before. I hope the devs fix the ost issue ingame cuz sometimes it doesn't play
Oh the actual composer is here????? Awesome!!
Slightly unrelated, what do you think of Periphery?
Yes! RE your previous message about the easter eggs: I'm no actually sure what I'm allowed to officially disclose. There were some easter eggs, but we weren't sure how heavy to go on them since the previous titles included a lot, and didn't want to seem like we were "replacing" them. I think since we developed a dark ages "sound" now, it would be really cool to include more in the future 🤘 (there was actually a full track that was basically a doom II cue that didn't get used in the end, but might see the light of day eventually...)
LOVE them. We're actually friends with Misha, and used his Juggernaut pickups in two of the guitars on the OST 🔥 (The aristides and the jackson)
Love to hear that, the metal community is just one big happy family
Thats awesome, I've really liked how involved they've been with video game osts (Halo, Warframe, DMC, probably a ton of other stuff)
Wait y'all worked on Halo too?????
Oh my god that's criminal I want to hear that so bad now
If ID contracts you for dlc I'd really like if you reference some of the underrated tracks. I'd sell both my legs to hear a "message for the archvile" remix in the dark ages style(and 64 because it's the closest to the timeline). Again I think with what you guys had, y'all were amazing.
im 1000% certain there's hints of Hellwalker from 2016 in the ||opening sequence, right around when the slayer impacts the ground and the camera cuts to him||
Yes! I wasn't there back then, but the Brians go way back with Misha and worked with him on those Halo OSTs.
Alex, one last question if you dont mind me asking, I really don't want to be a nuisance, pinging you all the time. What's your personal favourite track from the ost? Or which one are you most proud of.
Easily the best ost of the soundtrack
Ye that orchestra in the beginning made me feel some type of way. Anyone, either the official team or remixers, please have a snippet of that somber orchestral track on youtube or spotify so I can listen to it🙏
Hey, any time! I might just be a bit slow to respond. Two favs have to be “From the Ashes” and “Into the Void”.
From the Ashes has this badass early 70s heavy metal vibe to the main riff, which became the motif for the slayer throughout the game. Combined with so much exploration of the gritty Dark Ages palette through the orchestral and folk instrument textures.
Into the Void was a totally different beast, exploring a vastly different world in the game. Crazy synth exploration, mangling organic recordings into synthetic sound (loading field recordings into Synplant 2 is nuts, seeing what it comes up with), and the dark emotional breakdown later in the track has a special place in my heart 🖤
Does "cosmic sea" and "into the realm" use the dark halls motif they sound identical
There’s more mixes coming soon! I’m thinking Into the Void might be next (I plan on mashing it up with Cosmic Sea, so we have one monstrous 10-minute long track)
Just going to say 👀.... but yeah cosmic sea is part of the same suite as ITV! Just the light/ambient.
Thanks for the elaborate answer man. Love hearing composers thoughts on their own music. And from the ashes gave me instant Black Sabbath vibes, but in a coat of modern production
Oops sorry I mistyped. I'm saying in general, do the cosmic realm tracks in general reference dark halls?
made another doom inspired track
does music posted here have to be doom inspired or can it be just any music as long as I made it?
btw great song, I especially like the beginning buildup

Trying to cover, but everything feels kinda off ngl
In your infinite wisdom you were right lol. I have like 5 tracks I really love lol. I will say my opinion on the latter half of the ost hasn't changed, but here's what I enjoyed:
GOATS:
From the Ashes
When the Shadows First Lengthened
Infernal chasm
Unholy siege
Into the Void
AWESOME:
Unchained predator
Atlan Battleground
Pursuit of demons
Divine retribution
GREAT:
Blood Red
Hellspawn rift
(ambients):
Unyielding
Transdimensional
Cosmic sea
He is out there
If Alex or Jay or the other Brians see this, ya'll did a phenomenal job, I feel really bad that the ost is watered down ingame. I still think the latter game tracks coulda been better, I would've like Wither and Writhe to have only synths.
(And of course references but that may happen for dlc)
I made a reimagined version of Unchained Predator https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDMJcD7dCtc
Bit of a random and unexpected upload from me, read the explaination down below.
If this video gets 1000 likes I'll make a full version!
So, the new DOOM OST is out (it includes a game I think), and while I was listening to it yesterday, I noticed that it was missing quite a bit of ear candy, bass, and sound design that we're used to from the ...
guys hot take but doom 2016’s synthesizers are better than eternal’s guitars
the complete madness that is Flesh & Metal, yes
Yooo @cyan sierra, just realized you reacted to my message. Please don't take my Reimagined version as me disliking your OST! You guys did a fantastic job with the OST! It definitely fits the game, and it's not easy to follow in the footsteps of Mick Gordon. But I think you pretty much nailed it!
Idk if it's just me, but I think TDA ost is better than eternal ost
I think it's equal to 2016 but eternal has so much pop to it that it vibes with everyone. All I know is that now the team at FM has developed their sound. I'd really like to hear more references implemented or turned into new tracks like how "Into the Void" takes the dark halls motif and goes ham with it.
That just depends on what you like about Doom OSTs. That's the beauty of it, so many things come together to create the sound of Doom. I personally enjoy Eternal OST more as a standalone thing, than I do TDA OST, mostly because of the sound design, ear candy, and just overall attention to detail in Eternals OST. Which in my opinion makes it hold up more as a standalone thing, where TDA OST feels a bit boring to listen to on its own. But still, TDA OST fits really well with the aesthetic of the game, I really like its overall sound characteristic and vibe. They absolutely nailed that.
Honestly, loved the entire OST so much i listened to the whole thing in one sitting. If id decides to release another doom game, which is bound to happen with the genius of Hugo Martin, i really hope you’ll be invited again to compose another soundtrack
my mix
I’m with you there. Into the Void, What Lies Below, Divine Retribution, and Wither & Writhe speak to me on levels inconceivable. Can’t wait to see what Finishing Move cook up for the DLC
Of course I am, I discovered their channel by searching for Metroid Music and God knows that METROID and DOOM are as many times been put together for multiple reasons!
OOF, hype hits too hard but will disappeared after a single month that's always the same thing that happened with hype, Mick has invented a whole subgenre by himself with wanting it and even less pretending to made it (Argent Metal, because DOOM Metal was already taken, it's saying!), because he's a humble and kind person yet very talented and his art speaks for itself and himself, Finishing Move just pump so much from Mick's credibility, I sincerely hope they just wanted to pay hommage to Mick instead of just surfing on his work and flow and aura
What about this?
PEAKKK
I WILL KEEP THIS PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND
Only 1 hour
Made in 45 minutes @lucid thunder
DAYUM THAT SLAPS
Fits right in with the soundtrack of 2016. EZ peak
It feels really suno ai-ish ngl. I might be very wrong tho, can you show the thing in your DAW?
like, that guitar really sounds 1:1 to what suno usually generates
sounds WAY better that the original
It is suno, yes
This server has a strict policy against AI-generated content of any kind
passing off ai work as your own isn’t right, I agree. Devalues the work of those who create their tracks independently
Okay so I have some more thoughts on the ost. After some more listens and getting to know the inspirations I can appreciate some more nuances + there are definitely some bangers. My main complaint remains though, I can see what they were going for and it's some cool ideas in theory, however a lot of the time it crumbles under its own weight. Cool riffs just become white noise because the distortion overpowers the tone and the drums are like obnoxiously loud and disrupt intricacies from the comparatively thin guitars or synths or orchestral elements. On some tracks they made this approach work, like from the ashes, divine retribution and between hex and flame, but on others melody and groove just get crushed in the full mix. And I think its a shame, because mixed differently they could sound great.
Oh it's all good!! I love hearing alternate takes on it. Super cool that you took the time to make it.
There were a lot of conversions on the sonic aesthetic of the OST. We chose to go for a more organic and gritty/hairy open sound for this game, which actually felt like it blended better with those more open cinematic sections. Also, nobody does Mick better than Mick, so we wanted to respect that (kind of like Ludwig on The Mandalorian not trying to be John Williams).
For me, there are 5 bangers, from the ashes, WTSFL, unholy siege, infernal chasm and into the void.
Into the void is obviously the most unique one considering its use of synth but the rest have different feels. I'd argue unholy siege and infernal chasm have really good choirs and orchestral stuff, unholy siege has the most militaristic feel besides pursuit of demons. From the ashes is very medieval and obviously WTSFL is a really good menu theme. My criticism is that the melodies should be more in the fore front. Like wither and writhe. I really like its melody but it's so faint sometimes, you only hear it better in Blood Red. Songs like divine retribution has a melody during the end that's catchy but easy to miss from the riffs. But the team is very responsive and very genuine so I have no doubts that they'll improve significantly.
Oh yeah wither and writhe is a good example, love the octave riff (at least I think it is) that kicks in at 1:20. That is very black metal coded
Speaking of Unholy Siege, new mix! https://youtu.be/czGKV9R8cAI?si=p4db1_wuTewxAOt8

It's beautiful
Btw Atlan battleground is very 2016 coded yu should listen to it again(if ya want)
yeah I did. I certainly wouldn't call the soundtrack "mid" anymore, that probably was a bit of an overreaction. But you kinda have to dig to get to the good stuff and I still feel like there is this crust over the whole thing, that makes everything a bit muddier than it should be. I've had this sensation multiple times now, where I relisten to a track and just wish a melodic layer, be it guitar, synth or strings, would be louder.
Over all the tracks I picked made me happy. I think for dlc if they're back, they'll put the melody more to the front and have more references
Gosh I just finished siege. Unholy siege hits so hard especially when you're fighting with a cyberdemon. It feels like a dance. The shepard tone choir adds that tension too.
Just put out the full version of my reimagine of Unchained Predator https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-zppRvO7To
I got a lot of positive feedback on the snippet I posted yesterday, so here's the full version! The question now is, which track should I reimagine next?
https://youtu.be/F09HNpeiQZ4?si=_SN8JVBOJpG9TRR_
someone should do the run meme with the slayer saying it lmao
Awesome stuff mate. I have a request, can you do between hex and flame next? Pretty please
struggling for months working on my prog ep just to see this guy claim he made that entire song in 45 minutes
This minute took me at least 3 hours or so, idk
not counting the time of recording and editing
This seriously fucks!
i tried doing an industrial intro for it, this is my first time doing something like this
i didnt get anything done on that until today because of school
TDA OST: had to make 1h cut of the heaviest riffs only outta it
ah so your the bad ass that made that remix, dont you dare stop cuz i shared this with like 12 friends of mine, you earned my sub
Yo what’s this from this is fire
remake of a track from the old album by Dark The Suns
I wrote a song inspired by MG/Doom and made this video for it LMK what you guys think
Hey guys! Been in the group awhile but first time posting. Just wanted to share some riffs i wrote inspired by the obvious. Hope everyone is well!
Love the music
Thinking of merging Bobby Prince with Meshuggah
idk why silence takes like 30% of the track
The only thing I believe is less than good in dark ages is soundtrack. Mick Gordon has rightfully become part of new dooms identity since doom 2016 and even won at VGA! Not for empty reason. And now we ar ehaving rather generic soundtrack in this doom... I play with previous soundtracks on.
Even eternals dlc music sounds somewhat better that this. But it also would be better to have Mick doing all of that back then!
I tried to make some argent metal stuff, does it sounds good?

Is mick gordon making the soundtrack for dark ages?
No, they actually got Bobby Prince back for TDA
No, they screwed him over so bad last time.
I know there are some complaints about the music, but I dunno... I kinda love it. That bass line is awesome and feels like OG DOOM
The more I’ve listened to TDA’s music the more I’m loving it.
Just like the game.
Great job to the composers. Shit slaps.

I like his meathook remake, really good
I really wish they had the unholy siege baseline in the ost it felt so nostalgic
@fallow egret do yu know a mix that has that chunky bass segment from unholy siege? Or if you have access to it
Plus, I have a feeling I heard some Mick references in "Atlan battlegrounds" and "Into the void" but I have to compare the two before deciding
Yeah some stuff in there definitely sounds familiar
Steel Beyond the Grave also has something in there that sounds very familiar but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
I might put together a comp and show someone knowledgeable who can verify the references
or y'know any fine tuned musician here can make the vid already
I do have access to that stem. Essentially, those stems are unmixed, and I wanted to try and avoid those in my mixes. Not because they’re bad, far from it. I just couldn’t find a use for them, outside of being a tool to make awkward transitions smooth as silk
I don't suppose Spotify pre-save pages are allowed here?

Okay I might just be going crazy, but I feel like I keep hearing some older doom (specifically Doom and Doom 2) leitmotifs in some of the songs in the Doom The Dark Ages OST, and I specifically feel like I keep hearing an "Into Sandy's City" leitmotif but I can't pinpoint where. Can someone confirm or deny any of this because it's really driving me crazy
Allstin heard that specific one. I think I've heard some mick references too but maybe compile what struck yu as familiar as like a reference compilation, it's what I'm gonna do
played these drums yourself?
Nah, EZDrummer, programmed the midi and stuff myself though. I also have an update on that one
mm i see, next time you should try to get some drum samples and do that instead cause drum plugins are kinda ass
Well, tbh its a mix of EZDrummer and other samples layered, but for the main programming it's EZDrummer. I think the crash and a couple of other little hat elements were samples layered over
jesus that synth is fucking griddy i love it

OPENING TO HELL
From the ashes
Give me muh cookie
I need to see how you get it sounding so full in the low end, I think that's something I struggle with is keeping that nice tone in the low to mids to be honest
A lot of the time when I try to add a bass guitar layer or even a sub layer it just sounds flat or muddy, not nearly as resonant and rich as yours there. Any tips?
i've done a lot of shit to it i don't even know where to start 🤣
reminds me of tesseract's bass tone
I got bored and recreated sign of evil because nobody on YouTube has the in game version up bc it’s midi through code or whatever so I just remade it with the correct midis, it’s only missing one drum track which I forgot to add but yeah
Nothing special just boredom lol
didn't notice how messed up the beginning was, fixed it now
Meanwhile Mik Gordon is reaching for us nerds with his latest two posts on his tiktok. One for three weeks ago with deconstraction of one of his tracks for Doom eternal and two days ago with a nameless track but in the same style as DOOM games with his music in. That track alone is better than entire OST for Doom the Dark Ages

This track is crafted in the DOOM style—an aggressive, boundary-pushing sound that blends crushing, distorted guitars with pounding electronic beats, industrial textures, and orchestral flourishes. Why do all these vids just blast the same synth, that's not close to what mick gordon did! It just doesn't fit this game, thrash metal fits better than whatever this is

Dude Metallica has to have some record for most live shows played or longest time a band is touring. Its bonkers they are still doing it at their age
they have the record for playing within all continents (including Antarctica) in one year
