after listening to it (entire album by the way) I immediately switched to CC, Deicide, Immolation, Decapitated, Vader, MA...

In those years, we used to cover babykiller from devourment with my band at university. We used to cover reduced to ashes from Deeds of flesh. Then at some point, I think I lost interest in guttural vocals. Brutal death metal bands all started to sound the same. All the bands were making similar riffs. (We can keep a few bands apart, like Deeds of Flesh, though.) It was making similar rumblings. Maybe that's why I lost interest in brutal death metal and guttural vocals. I would even make the Predator Croaks made famous by Heinous Killings. Then I became interested in funeral doom metal, death/doom, black/death metal etc. old school death metal has always been in my heart and never left 🙂 I gravitated towards death growls and scream vocals rather than guttural vocals. Although I would have done it anyway, let's say I was more focused. As I focused more on atmospheric and dark music, my hunger for vocals with reverb and echo increased 🙂 It became incredibly fun to turn on reverby and echo at home to the fullest and sing with death growl and scream vocals and give the neighbors fearful moments 🙂 My path with brutal death metal never crossed again. If a few good bands such as Deeds of Flesh that I loved from those times come out, I will still listen to them. But I'm out of business with brutal death metal playing, singing etc.

starting from 2008 i actually never met a Brutal DM band which would bring something new to the genre... I think, it's because of the genre's limitations.

but new bands that make old-school Brutal DM — i respect them anyway 🙂

From brutal death metal vocals to drums and guitar, it's an overwhelming piece of music. It feels like you're beating meat. so including all the riffs and vocals, it's dan dan dan dan like hitting it with a sledgehammer. Even the vocals' style is like this. It's not for nothing that breakdown is famous for brutal death metal. But you can't get out of here either. There are those who go to a technical route, those who go to a groove route, etc. that's why brutal death metal is not a genre that can be blended too much. As you said, there are musical restrictions.

Although atmospheric and dark music has its own limitations. For example, you cannot combine dark atmosphere music with D-beat drum rhythms, punk riffs. For example, there is no problem in terms of vocals. You can do death growl with lots of reverb in a dark death metal band. Same with the punky death metal band. But when it comes to the music itself, if you can't make this combination well, the whole atmosphere will disappear instantly. What makes Autopsy a legend is basically that it can do it very well. While driving in a dark atmosphere in Doom mode, it enters a punky mode, but it makes such a transition that you will be amazed.

Combining dark music with energetic music is incredibly difficult. Although I love both sides, unfortunately there are very few bands that can combine them in a versatile way.

Here's a thing I did (rough mix) but its more in the style of cerebral incubation. I Recorded all instruments and did the vocals.

If you want to sing closer to devourment, read by lifting your tongue up to the palate while singing. Use less diaphragm or reduce your exhalation a little while singing. I think the vocal you will reach will satisfy you more than enough. by the way nice composition for slam.

It can be said that Dave Rotten vocals are closer to brutal death metal vocals than old school death metal style. but although dave rotten does brutal death metal vocals, he doesn't sing like brutal death metal vocalists. In brutal death metal, vocals are like instruments. rhythm with the sound. but dave rotten sings like old school death metal bands using brutal death metal style vocals. reads the lyrics one by one. In brutal death metal vocal is a instrument. If you listen very carefully, you will see that Dave Rotte has read all the lyrics. that's why avulsed is a very original band. Dave Rotten is in the top 5 of the best death metal vocals in my opinion.
