im sure this has been asked before but I love the TDA outfit for the slayer, is there a good mod that changes the Eternal slayer to that skin? I found 2 but neither include the cape (which im really after)

I realize this is probably impossible or at least difficult to do but it would be sick to have TDA Doomguy's head/face replace the one in Eternal.

Is there a way to remove the free cam limit in doom eternal photo mode?
Press the key above Tab, to the left of 1, below Escape (often the ~ key) to open the console.
Input photomode_freeCamLeashDistance -1 and press Enter to let Photo Mode's third-person camera move infinitely far, and photomode_freeCamMovementType 2 to make the camera noclip. Then press the key above Tab again to close the console.
(These variables work with the game launcher's "Mods" > "Play" > "Launch with active mods" button by default, and the "Play DOOM Eternal" button after running EternalModInjector once and/or installing meath00k.)

Your best bet is probably slayer decl library
Go to the folder responsible for the ballista and recolor the folders in the zip via recolor helper

I just finished playing "Lost Titan" in the Galapagos and I really enjoyed the combat. I felt a lot of pressure, but the environment was vast, which helped, and I could always escape. The concept of the environment looks great too

I somehow got it to cap at 60 (when I specified 100) and zombies and crap were still zooming around for some reason. Not as much as 300+ FPS but still pretty noticeable.

What’s up guys? I’m not really showing map lately because a lot of stuff isn’t done but trust me. There’s a lot of things coming in the future that you should be excited for. But I thought I would show something quite interesting. I recently got into texturing. And thought I would show my progress. This is just an asset like a asset for Gore or a hive or an infection of some sort. Thought I would show it.
Question, do you not get Steam Achievements if you play Doom Eternal w/ Mods (even if they're just graphics)?
If you click "Mods" > "Play" > "Launch with active mods" in the game's launcher, then no.
(If you click "Launch DOOM Eternal" on the game launcher's homepage, then you can earn achievements, even with EternalModInjector mods installed.)

You could try backing up the .map file to a safe place, then take the remaining .map file and search for line 5244
"How to fix it (step by step)
Open your .map file.
Go to line 5244
(use a text editor like Notepad++ or VS Code).
Look for something like:
"origin" "nan nan nan"
or
"scale" "nan"
or any value that says nan.
Replace the nan with valid numbers. For example:
"origin" "0 0 0"
or
"scale" "1"
Save the file.
Reopen the map in idStudio and test again."
👀 I think you have nothing to lose by trying that haha. If it doesn't work, delete that .map file and paste the one you backed up over it, and you're done.
I right-clicked my .map file and opened it with Notepad, and it does indeed show values like the ones it says there, so I'm confident in the solution haha

Yes! I think so too, maybe a few more "lighting" points in the Blood Cathedral level too; the blood looks black from a distance and isn't always red, but I love its arenas and the theme of its three levels haha

why does my screen zoom in and lower in quality when i play with mods
The launcher's "Mods" > "Play" > "Launch with active mods" button has separate save data and settings from the launcher's homepage's "Play DOOM Eternal" button; your field of view and graphics settings might just be different.
Go to "C:\Users\[Username]\Saved Games\id Software\DOOMEternal\base\", copy the "DOOMEternalConfig.cfg" (if it exists) and "DOOMEternalConfig.local" files, and paste them into "-\id Software\DOOMSandBox\base\".
Then, in "Mods" > "Play", there's an "Import save profile" checkbox to import your "normal" save into your "with mods" save data. This will import other data like your current save slots, but I'm not sure whether it imports settings? It's worth a try, too, though.

i just reinstalled idstudio with its asset packs into a new hard drive, i realized the reason the mod portal wasnt detecting idstudio was due to it installing itself into a different folder (DOOMEternal 2545650) so i cut the contents of this folder to DOOMEternal, however now when creating a new mod steam starts installing idstudio again into this separate folder, has this happened to anyone else?

Try merging "DOOMEternal 2545650" into "DOOMEternal", uninstalling idStudio through Steam, and reinstalling it. It should say "discovering existing files" without redownloading all of idStudio.
(If it tries to install into "DOOMEternal 2545650" again, you might have to exit Steam fully, merge them again, open -/Steam/steamapps/appmanifest_2545650.acf in a raw text editor like Notepad++, change "installdir" "DOOMEternal 2545650" to "installdir" "DOOMEternal", and save the file.)
I'd love for a zoom function in mod preview images or at least the ability to open them in full res in a browser window.

Hello everybody, I’m not really sending anything of a map or anything like that, but I just thought I would say this out loud because I’ve been thinking about it lately mods have been going really slow for Doom Eternal lately and I just want to say that a lot of people are working on amazing things that I’ve seen a lot of things have to be fixed and not to be rude but the people that are updating the software really are taking a long time mainly because they’re working on dark ages and my opinion, I’ve like they should kind of focus on the tools so then they could just do dark ages without worrying about us, but I just thought I would say that out loud. Is there any person that’s working there? That’s reading this no harm but in my opinion, this community can thrive if we just fix the bugs and add new things studio crashes a lot and it’s really annoying. There’s so much potential but sadly we have to wait but there will be more in the future. I hope 🙏

I never noticed the Marauder's SSG looked different from your own.
It doesn't have the weird iron sights on the break action. Honestly I prefer it this way. Reminds me of the 2016 one but chonkier and more imposing.
I'd kill for an edit of the SSG that gets rid of that part as well as the meathook (only visually of course).

then you need another tool, it called meathook, it DLL file you put it in the install folder should unlock the cmds for you, ignore the error when you launch the game

Well, I have a "suggestion" for the latest update of the mod portal, and that is that it somehow notifies you when a user uploads a new update to their mod (if that already exists, then I haven't noticed). But it would be great if there was a quick search for "new updates" or "modified," something like that, or if it highlighted the mod in red or green to indicate that a new update has been made. Imagine if someone updates an old mod without notifying you, and you don't know, and you have more than 500 mods installed. ☠️

Its annoying because obviously it cant go online while modded so it just wastes like 10 seconds trying to connect after every loading screen
I could be wrong on this, but you can go on the portal when you’re connected and sign in first before you disconnect and then all the mods that you already have installed you should be able to play and also you can go in studio if you want, but you cannot install anything. Sorry if that didn’t answer your question.

I just solved it by blocking just the Doom Eternal exe file from the network in the firewall settings.
When you go to explore the mod portal, there's a search list at the bottom. I recommend clicking on "custom maps"; there you'll find all the custom maps made by the mod community. Play the ones you like best
super off nest , cyber grind, dawn , isnland of lomaryth , last church of the holy , rancid , maykr hideout , high tower , subzero , graveyard , etc
One older game that really impressed me is "Precipice." I recommend playing it too. And really, I recommend ANY custom map; seriously, just go and install any of them and you'll have a great time

If you want a different gameplay experience than Doom Eternal, play "luna eterna"

@gentle rapids this issue will be fixed in next update, but I have temporary fix, Go to your doom eternal Install folder find a file called "doom-launcher-settings.json" and change the path manually like in this picture this my personal paths, but will give you idea in you case you need to change only the activemods_base path

Whenever you edit text files, .json files, or anything else, I prefer to back up before making changes. Sometimes very strange errors occur; you might accidentally delete a line or a period in a specific line without realizing it, etc.
Did you try uninstalling everything and reinstalling the game today?
My paths are set up like this; maybe your problem is that you weren't calling any of them? I don't see drive D, C, or E before "activemods".

You're missing the colon afterD, and you ended the path with two single quotes/apostrophes ('') instead of one double-quote ("). Replace this line with"activemods_base": "D:\\Eternalmods",and save the file.

You need to check the folder where you're installing your mods. If the "activemods" folder is on one drive, you need to specify that name first. If it's on drive C, then it's C. If it's on drive D, then it's D

Depends on the functionality, stuff is defined in many different locations. The base frag cooldown time (30000ms) is defined in playerProps/player/default, and the upgraded cooldown time (20000ms) is defined in upgrade/upgrade/equipment/frag_reduce_cooldown.

Does loading the game with mods prevent milestone achievements? I had noticed that I hadn't unlocked the dragon scale skin by beating AG1 on extra life mode, and I wanted to grab it, but I also wanted to try out the mods because

I get completely if it does, I just had to ask because the skin is kind of adorable??? And I wanted to use it if I could.
Mod portal mods will disable achievements. Modded DE uses a separate .exe which isn't hooked up to Steam achievements.
You'll want to play vanilla Eternal with mods via the mod injector, it's the only way you can unlock them.

Thanks for retracting, just know that they work very hard and I imagine are extremely busy currently.
He retracted his words, admirable, not everyone retracts in time haha. I've worked in HTML and CSS and I've seen people who work with databases; it's a REALLY tough job because you have to test so many things. They're probably using the same data for both the mod finder and the mod launcher, so I imagine there are some errors where they share similar files. They can fix it with time, but you have to do very precise tests, or you don't know what will cause an error (like in this case, figuring out why when you select a name, go back to the mod finder, and then back, the active mods disappear)

Hello everyone! Please help me solve the problem with idTechLauncher. I installed mods and set them to active, but I'm still getting the following error (see photo). I've tried a lot, but nothing has helped 🙁
Have you used EternalModInjector (unofficial mods) before? If so, the game was updated two days ago, so you have to redownload and re-run EternalModInjector (https://gamebanana.com/tools/7475) to patch the game to handle unofficial mods again. (Alternatively, you can verify Doom Eternal's game files through Steam to uninstall all unofficial mods.)
Did you eventually continue trying to add "unholy urdak" to the mod portal? Have you made any progress, or was it simply impossible?

Weapons are kinda annoying to mess with. I was trying to mess with the SSG to make it shoot 4 instead of 2. But there is alot of Decls referenced on the files xD.
And depending on what you do, you can crash the game. So keep that in mind while trying to make New weapons.

Modding has definitely unlocked troves of new content for Deternal, what with custom master levels, horde mode, enemy randomizers, etc.
They accomplish the same goal of the original (vanilla) mods that aim to take the bestiary and rearrange it in interesting and surprising ways
for sure... but for the sake of keeping the game alive it isn't nearly as crucial as wads. but yeah, some mods especially the dark lord one that makes him more aggressive are also extremely cool
Yea they dont have the creative depth of wads (yet) but they definitely are opening new avenues for Deternal already. The gameplay in that game is so solid that I am 100% confident that mods will continue to be developed and grow even after ID drops support for the title.
And with time people will find new ways to poke at the files and make better mods
with time the mods will crash less and be better... thats when it will be critical for DE's health

It will be designed to be used in conjunction with UberCringe's "Challenge Restored - Balanced" mod.
I should also mention that I used a personal mod that creates subtle buffs for non-meta weapon mods, which is why I was doing so well with them.

You'll probably have to use EternalModInjector first (specifically EternalPatcher, which is bundled with EternalModInjector), even if you use an empty "Mods" folder for it. <#eternal-modding message>

Quick Question to the Doom modders, how possible is it to mod slayer skins to this degree?
It depends on how willing you are to make compromises. We can't make custom models (yet?), only custom textures, so we wouldn't be able to make that hat nor "cape" on the Gunslinger Slayer, nor the flip-flops on the Summer Slayer.
Gotcha, was wondering if anyone had been able to make custom skin models yet. I've seen plenty of custom skins but they're just recoloring.
So i'm working on a new skin for the classic slayer, and i notice that the 3rd person textures are... distorted? Wont this cause stretching once I put it back on the slayer?

Yes. Alternatively, you could try to apply the texture in 3D rather than in 2D, in something like Blender (free) or Substance Painter (paid), to have it get automatically "stretched" appropriately over the uneven UV map.

I don't. You could try looking up general texturing tutorials, though. It shouldn't really "differ" when it comes to Doom Eternal, of course (except for special/non-diffuse textures, like normal maps).

Those would be the special textures/maps
Yes. But diffuse/albedo textures should work just as expected, maybe except for transparency in a few cases (which isn't relevant for Doom Slayer textures).

meaning creating an entirely new grenade type is feasible
making new weapons is also possible, we just can't give them unique models (meaning we have to reuse existing ones)
this is very big for the modding scene
before now what we'd do was replace existing files with modified ones, meaning we'd have to give up something to add something else

you have to find the fuel, find the mob to do it on.
It has so nothing to do with Reloading
reloading you already have AMMO
modders do take suggestions its just whether or not its actually possible
I feel the arenas are perfect for a proper cpma implementation. Air control perk is great, gave me the idea.
Like i said, i made it easier to understand by calling it reloading instead of restocking
And like i said, you dont have to find fuel, if you are empty it regenerates at quite a quick pace (once you have 2 ammo upgrades that is, otherwise its kinda tight)
I disagree that it regenerates fast enough that is why I want to make it INSTANT with a mode, so no need to worry about and I can focus on slaying and having fun
Also while it regenerates and you have no ammo, what do you do ?

Well I do not aim perfectly that is why chasing ammo in this game because a frustration and keeping track of how much you use was a distraction so I went back to 2016 the moment i finished
Now I am looking for good mods to fix (for me) the ammo issue
Even if i use FA always, never ssg, bottomless missles, turrent arbalest spam and abuse lock on i still dont think i would be able go discard enough ammo
TBH I am havign fun using ONLY double batter and unlimited ammo and complete the game 😄

it allows me to move fast between demons when out of dashes

I recomend the "savegery works on CS" mod, makes you chainsaw faster if you have the rune

it doesn't take away from fighting monsters, having to pick up ammo packs does that, you literally have to approach monsters and kill them with your chainsaw to get your ammo, it adds to the fighting

I discoverd Doom with Doom 2016 when I took a class from Jhon Romero and his Wife
in the old classic gameplay you had to run around and collect ammo to be able to fire your gun, that also takes away from "fighting monsters" doesn't it?
In game design class and Player thinking, they actually took it away and reduced it because players had to do exactly that

I am leaerning UE and have been studying game design on my own, I am not too good but I practice a lot studying games and their mechanics
I might be wrong in many aspect compared to some people's preferences
This guy wants to make a game where you get a minogun with infinite ammo on the first level, and youre just shooting with no strategy at all i think
that's why they made the chainsaw, so people don't have to run around looking for ammo, and that's also why they made the chainsaw recharge itself in doom eternal, so you don't have to worry about not having fuel
that's good game design, it forces players to be aggressive and fight demons to get what they want, instead of running around and avoiding all forms of conflict
it keeps the player engaged and in the middle of the action, exactly what doom is all about
Avoiding certain conflict at a given time to come backl later while you kill other things is kind of VERY present in the game
Chainsaw made me run around so I guess it is poorly designed based on what you say since it was to AVOID that
