i havent been able to import an fbx into idstudio for 2 reasons
"import skeleton failed: Error Loading Scene from FBX file"

Bethesda will not let me sign into my account within the mod portal of doom eternal
No matter what, my passwords and name are copied directly from the Bethesda website into the account login and no results
I even tried making a new account and to no avail

Pretty easy if you build the floor using brush just add new group called nav and and add the brush to the group and go worldedit/build/ click in build collisions + navigation

I've narrowed it down to a specific mod, the TAG 1 master campaign mod, only crashes when I use that mod

nope, i tried playing with mods with no active mods, still crashes
I was having issues several times as well with no mods where the game wouldn't boot or would freeze on the teleporting screen, not sure why

Which btw, @plush thicket I ran into an issue with some enemies and the yellow card being duped. As in, I ran into the yellow key, and there were two of them spinning in place, and two mancubi in the first arena in the same spot clipping through each other. Only happened on my first romp through the map though and didn't break anything, but still odd enough to note.
Ive just bought the deluxe edition, now it works. I guess the base game isnt enough on its own.

the yellow part is the mod you installed but they not active, the bule part the active mods, after you drag it to active mods click play Doom eternal with mods

Current version of idS likes to crash a lot for no reason π Each time I have a crash, I can't send or save anything and to kill task in manager. Also each time it happens it takes almost my all RAM (32)

no, but the path is long
When creating mods through idStudio it is considerd a best practice to limit idStudio's base save path to a directory with no more than: 16 characters. This is due to some game asset names being extremely long and exceed filename limits when loading into idStudio. We recommend using a save path for idStudio like: "C:\doom"

I know in some games if you open a map that's already cooked/baked. It can't be edited. Like, you have the final map file separate from the map file being edited. Not sure if this is the same case though. I don't want to assume.
So for some reason, playing DE with mods deletes my save files but not when I play vanilla

I think it's not possible. You theoretically could, but still would use Eternal's base.
yeah, but the rendering engine is amazing, doom eternal looks just as good as many AAA games yet runs 3x faster
And also they haven't released the engine itself (SDK), but rather an editor suite used to modify the game (basically the set of tools they've used during development).

Yeah, many lights are baked. Usual practice especially in detailed scenes, where's also no active alteration of lightning (for example day-night cycle).

I would only say the possible cause when it would happen on every Steam app.
But at your case, if other steam apps work, Eternal should also work in beta + launcher.
It only seems to happen when I'm on the beta mod preview, it sits at the Steam loading animation. It's on my SD card which only has a gig a free space so I'll try deleting a few things to see if that works

After making space it still refuses to get to the launcher. I tried verifying it's files and nothing was wrong.
If you are struggling to move the camera in the model viewer you can change the controls in the input setting

Today I started to understand the id Studio toolkit and quite a lot is familiar to me, at least in the main points (spawn enemies by triggers, saving the map, placing objects, music events, etc.) I got used to it quickly
But a couple of things are bothering me:

How to create global lighting? I read the FAQ about it (as I think), but it only describes what types of lighting there are and how they differ - not a word about how to place it, and I didn't find it in the add entities tab (maybe I'm blind?)

I don't understand how to update geometry paths for AI... And I probably just missed this point in the FAQ(?)
I tried to perform a full build of the map, instead of slow map, however, I ALWAYS end up with an error... -
How to work with encounter managers? In my memory, when I had to do everything with my hands, there were entityEvents followed by a list of all encounter events, but I don't see this in idStudio...

Thanks for letting me know about the menu, but in the world editor the default texture is a white grid, and if any texture is applied it is just white, no texture shows at all, but in a video they have in the room tutorial the default should be black with text on it and the textures show when applied. I'm hoping that after I get everything downloaded that it will work.
Are there rules for mods? Like let's say I used materials/textures from other games. I'd imagine that would be a no no and I'd need to create my own textures.

Ok you cannot add sun by some kinda entity there what you can do, if you have multiple refmaps select the main like the yellow across in this picture, unselect everything by pressing esc ,go to entity inspector find parameter called env setting (blue box in picture), select any env decls that you like after that you have to refresh the map by toggle preview modes(the red box in picture) set to no lit, then switch back to slowmap or slowmap+lightmap, there so many env decls have sun in it

you added this light or you selected this light? It's not possible to edit anything on map from downloaded assets campaign, right? I mean you can walk on the map, add stuff but you can't change anything or even check parameters.

@plush thicket do you have problem with crashing? After I changed path, I have no crash with zoom out, but now I had when trying CSG with intersection and when I change parametr in light from point to other. Editor just hanged on and crashed π¦

@plush thicket is there possible to copy part of campaign map or change part of it and Save as? Cause I see it's gray out, and when I tried Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V on new map - it didn't work. I wanted rip first arena before DOOM Slayer entered the city in first map.

You can theoretically make anything you want with this editor.
And could whip up a TC if you really put your mind to it. It'd just take more work overhauling the logic and it'd still be using Eternal as foundation, but hey if AAA gaming companies can get away with reusing assets for entries in the same series then modders should too.

another thing I forget to mention you can import refmaps into your map from other maps
I mean, it does look pretty comprehensive. I do agree I'll need more time to get used to it now that I'm fiddling around with it a little more, but for one I get the feeling it's easier to get the hang of and more in-depth than say, Doom 3's tools.

Well one game is close to 20 years old, the other is not. The toolset will obviously be substantially more straightforward for one vs. the other due to complexity in logic.
Netrad is faily new, supports q4/d3 and a bunch of other newer engines
That's also a thing. This current iteration of idStudio is/was proprietary software strictly built for Eternal, Netrad isn't and covers a wide array of engines.
I switched from DOOM3/QUAKE4 to Prodeus editor - it's a bit similar to Trenchbroom, and everything you are making in 3d window. It's my fav editor all of time, super efficient.
Trenchbroom is so good. I need to get back to that and finish my mappack.
GtkRadiant was originally developed by id Software - Netradiant is pretty much the same as gtk 1.6

you apply textures and unwrap after importing the .obj in. Do some clean up and then export as fbx
unless the model is unwrapped already, that saves you time.

idStudio officially requires at least 32 gigabytes of RAM, and recommends 64 gigabytes. You can probably get by with less than 32 if you don't edit and build maps/look at 3D things, but mapping will devour your RAM.

All encounters in idStudio use something called the encounter manager
not when the editor slows to a crawl and then crashes
I just placed the enemies and built the navmesh (you need to do this or the enemies will die instantly). When you start though, they stand still, so I think you have to script a bit. Other than that, they do their natural AI behavior.

Yes you can make any layout of panes and windows, idstudio is extreemely flexible. At work i have my own custom two monitor layout for dual AI/level design work.
Its kinda insane to me, that id just casually releases those tools to the public

I've been playing this game for a long time. You're supposed to need a Bethesda.net account to play the game, right? So I must have created one at some point, because every time I open the game, it logs into what I assume is my Bethesda.net account.
However, I didn't remember the credentials for this supposed account, so I tried to get Bethesda to help me find my account through their website using my email. But the problem was that I never received the email with the required information.

Well, I have no idea how to use converter. But I realized brush section in map file is the same in D3 and DE so I copied whole brush section to map made in Eternal.
Problem is DOOM3 maps are like 1000x bigger than Eternal
it's hard to scale it properly, but I'm almost done.

God it opened so many my awesome mods every time I was using idstudio trying to figure out how to open it w/o doing it I got 0 clue which is the right one I did stuff on lol

look for keys for decals editor in docs, tip create refmap for decals
you can change the the color too scroll down in decal tool you find color settings

it happen everytime you open the idstudio ??
if I start to play my map from campaign menu. When I run it under editor "play from this place" it works. But from main menu I got black and text about lightmap problem.
did you try to restart the idstudio ??
this issue happen in retail game too, you have to restart the game
yes, it's all the time. Maybe I did something wrong. Cause when I was testing for the first time just box, it worked without that problem.
Did you bake the level before you play it ??
yes I did, without bake I couldn't even run the map
it happen in engine tab in idstudio??, cause you know you can't play your maps in sandbox you need to full bake the level

in D3 it was very easy, in Rage was much more advanced

so how do you move the studio do 'root' folder on steam without breaking steam/launcher and without symlinks ;}
That is weird in steam it does not have an option to move install folder. I can not find another game that is missing the move files option.
you can move but to other drive in predefined location path from steam, go to settings and storage - you can not just install title it in x:/folder/
