There are "argent cells" littered throughout the levels. Usually 1 or 2 per map. The first is given to you at the end of lvl2, can't be missed. You can invest each cell into either health, armor, or ammo to increase health/armor by 25 or ammo by a bunch per type. Each argent cell fully refills the respective resource. Basically the same as eternal

Using the chaingun in 2016 makes it hard to get glory kills, and also feels kinda tedious to use too. Yeah, I think I prefer the assault rifle in this case.

I welcomed the shift in style honestly. The only weapon that really felt kinda pointless was the pistol.

but it works fine as a sidearm. Equip it along with something better for close range and see if you can pick someone off with it from a distance or when they're running away to get your needed kills

reaper is a strong close range weapon with flexibility with the charge shot at range. the pistol is very powerful if you land headshots. I've found use out of most everything except the fully autos and burst rifle. But full autos are good if you have trouble swapping.

it depends on the map ofc, but if you have a small enough map that you can use that charge attack for instas -- very hard to dodge with the jump. And you're invisible

every demon has instakill attacks.

I had some trouble getting the spectre multikills, but i think when i did get it was like a bunch at once lol
but it's pretty simple in concept. Just find a group of people, idealy lined up in a tight corridor, and run at them
game lets you turn around quite a bit iirc so if you're good at following them it shouldn't be too finnicky

wouldn't the ranges kinda block each other? you need to get close for the shotgun to be effective, but you need to be farther to not blow yourself up with rockets

optimally, you get the long range hit with the shotgun grenade(long range explosive), close distance with rocket, and kill with the shotgun. but it does take a bit of a dance to get the ranges right. self damage is somewhat forgiving at least

plasma can be surprisingly effective, but it's worth trying out other combos. combat shotgun seems to be the swap king. and then if you want headshots or just ranged stuff, vortex is real strong, or even pistol

if you want to enter the secret level for the upgrade point, you don't have to beat it. at long as you enter.

chainsaw means ammo is infinite since the chainsaw recharges over time in DE. 2016 also gives ammo for kills if you're very low but that's a desperation move that leaves you uncomfortable

@elder agate So I did a little poking around Steam forums and my own DOOM 2016 directory and the cfg file you probably need is one that holds a majority of the game information right? Only ones I found where for controls and other pretty miniscule things. However I did find these 2 Steam forum pages that may be able to help you with your issue as turns out the specific cfg isn't in the directory.

You could play it through the cloud but that requires Game Pass Ultimate and streaming isn't exactly the best way to play for some people.

That's just a personal thing then. 2016 is more of quake plus classic than just classic. Eternal still feels like classic especially with its aesthetic. But with added mechanics. The reason eternal was more popular was because Id had a great marketing campaign compared to 2016. Which was great but not even close to the scale of eternal. Which is why there are so many people now that have played eternal but haven't touched another doom game before it

It ain't bad at all. Eternal only beat it out because of the marketing. Id focused on that more and used it to their advantage. Which was a really smart idea.
