I tried DOOM and I loved the combat, that's what I came for, but the map design is HORRIBLE! I had no idea where I was going, and the map didn't help! I constantly got lost, after that lava in the building area I just gave up. I came for the combat, which was great, but the level design and where you are supposed to go makes no sense and is all over the place.

I've heard Eternal fixes a lot of the issues that this game had, is that game more straightforward with where you are supposed to go? Is it more combat focused?

I personally found Doom 2016 to be pretty simple when it comes to the main paths, it's easy to find the objectives. I wouldn't say finding the secrets on your first playthrough is too easy tho

2016 found a good sweet spot when it came to finding secrets between the classics (impossible) and eternal (too simple)

but the map doesnt always correspond to what exists in the level, only platforms you can stand on, which makes it confusing at times

Just make them your highest priority to kill and it'll be fine

Always go to kill them before anybody else

You gotta stray further from the barrels, at first they're really dangerous until you upgrade your Environmental Resistance category.

There's no way you can miss it lol. Walk fast towards the edge and jump once until you're in mid air then press space bar again

Don't do double-jump at once

You must wait for the second jump

Snapmap cut out a lot of content from the campaign, including a few tracks. Fortunately someone was able to mod them in along with a ton of other campaign features, and you can download the map to use them. I can try to find the map ID if you wish to check it out.
