Shouldn't compare it to eternal since its basically it's own game completely. Would be like saying you cant play halo because you played 2016. Just play it as it's own game and enjoy it for what it is and you'll have an amazing time. Definitely one of the best shooters ever made

Eternal is more like putting that same madman in a more detailed version of the world of the first 2 DOOM games while every other character feels like they were auditioning for a dark souls game because of all the lore
Mind you, I like Eternal more tho, if only because I found the story to be just serious enough for me to get invested while also not afraid to be silly and campy

And when I started said mode in eternal game was incredibly easier the moment you started getting a few upgrades
I think it's because you have so many tools to keep enemies at bay now and get resources back that you feel you are always going balls to the walls
The problem I had with 2016 was the fact the overall design and style felt a bit "bland", probably because of the color palette

well that and the fact that there they actually tried to emulate the feel of old school Doom level design so you get more of that abstracty weird feeling from Hell

that's one thing i feel doom eternal corrects pretty well: every weapon has a purpose in the game and you don't really feel any of them are useless, whereas in doom 2016 the super shotgun is just a jack of all trades and the starting weapons are rendered completely obsolete the moment you get chaingun and gauss cannon

If I'm just playing generally, yes I want the extra damage
But there's a lot of kinks to it that are super lame
Specifically the health system, and extra accuracy
This becomes a LOT more clear, and much more frustrating during Ultra Nightmare
Imp Fireball does 70 and glory killing gives max 20, usually 5
Late game it's much easier but this is 2016, that's the rule of the show

Well after 200 hours or so UV is laughably easy and just not interesting for me. Once you have your swapping , movement and map knowledge down it's pretty easy to destory hordes without taking damage. Also adds that bit of challenge. So that's why I prefer nightmare now

@tranquil bolt The pistol is mostly an emergency weapon, something to get you out of certain fights in a pinch while not being strong enough to kill most enemies. Once fully upgraded it becomes more dependable tho

i still didn't get a reply to my question from 2 days ago
it has to do with doom 2016 crashing on me after playing for some time, where it also very likely crashes when cutscenes start
it only happens with the vulkan rendering API (at least i think so)
opengl seems to be alright, but the performance difference is something i don't want to accept with my already weak 1050 ti on high settings
i completely wiped my graphics drivers and reinstalled them, but that was met with no success
is there any way i could prevent it from crashing and sometimes even stuttering?

it crashed on me again, just that i was in arena mode and played the last level on HMP
after falling into a pit and dying, i tried reloading to my checkpoint but now its just the loading circle there with no numbers nor movement, whatsoever
it can't be my own pc since eternal runs on a very similar engine and the API is the same
i also removed all startup commands (the only one i used was the intro skip command)
any ideas?

Overall ultra violence isn’t as bad as I thought. So far I’ve died like 20 times. But 3 of those were because I got cocky and tried to use the pistol. The other 17 deaths are because I keep getting some weird explosion that’s killing me
