I hear the Stun bomb is popular for Plasma Rifle, but I've always personally preferred the heat blast mod. Shotgun's explosive shot is nice for early-game target-picking. Assault rifle commonly uses the scope, but I prefer the micro missiles since I'm mostly in crowds anyhow.

I had the same issue. You have to play maps that actually end, in other words, maps that are “winnable”. Then you have to win 5 times. There are maps created specifically for that, you just have to search a bit on the list.

But even Campaign and Multiplayer wise I prefer 2016.

But yeah Eternal doesn't have SnapMaps. :/ Custom content is one of my favorite parts of DOOM.

In doom 2016 i end up getting hit a ton on nightmare even if i move a lot. Are there some specefic movement strategies i could use to make getting hit less frequent?

Try not to back track a lot the Doom 2016 Ai suck at predicting movement and most of the time aims for where you were causing you to get hit if you move back to where you were

Many factors.

Imps and Barons have ridiculously fast and accurate fireballs that basically one shot you and are great at reading your movement and pattern.

No dash. So you can't spam dash. You can't abuse air mobility.

Restacking in 2016 is also much more brutal, you can't just restore to basically full health and armor whenever you want like in Eternal.

Enemies can also trap you after glory kill animations end in 2016, which they can't really do in Eternal very well, especially with dash

2016 pinkies can fuck you up and can be quite tricky to avoid.

Eternal pinkies are kinda a joke

Cyber Mancubus are very crafty and accurate with trapping you with their green goo sniping traps from afar

Personally, that final boss was SUPER underwhelming with how upgraded I was at the end

Yeah 2016s bosses aren’t really challenging, mostly because they have a bunch of simple attack patterns with huge wind ups, and especially the Cyberdemon has no health, you can melt his first bar of hp under a minute or even less

The hell Guards are good though

I died a couple of times to the cyber demon and only one time to the spider mastermind

In my opinion eternal is easier than 2016 but I barely had upgrades and runes so I see why it could have been less hard

The hell guards I got through quick when I realized their attack patterns

Eternal is definitely easier, but it's also a bit more fun. I want to say hack and slash, but hacking and slashing was barely a third of it, since you mostly use guns

I think for most casual players Eternal is somewhat harder due to the mechanics not being as accessible as in 2016 but at higher levels of play/difficulty 2016 is generally harder

It's easier to upgrade in eternal cause it kind of just gives it to you

Yeah that’s the jarring thing, 2016 is a decently challenge game but like halfway through when you get most of the broken stuff unlocked it becomes the easiest game, there are so many ways to break it, the unlock where you can get bfg ammo from glory kills I think it was, absolutely busted

True. You can spam Siege mode, especially with Rich Get Richer 2....

Or you can abuse BFG ammo with a certain room

Though when you don't abuse Siege mode, or the broken runes, it oddly enough turns the final two missions (Argent D'Nur and VEGA Central Processing) to be even harder than TAG 1 of Eternal.

The VEGA train battle in particular has gotta be the hardest official content in the whole series or something if you don't resort to the cheesy runes, BFG, or Siege mode spam.

I might have to do a run with no runes then, perhaps that will get me to see the challenge that those levels poses, except for the train area that you mentioned, that was noticeably difficult at all times when I went through it

Eternal already has a lot going on so I don’t think the Runes would’ve fit there but I would like to make a return one day and be a lot better since they’re a mixed bag of quality, I like ones where you have to use your movement properly and also the one where you can only kill enemies with barrels to test your environmental awareness, they help with improving your skills of movement and combat and environmental awareness, and then there’s garbage like killing a Mancubus with a pistol

I think people exaggerate the whole ammo thing in 2016.

If you don't use Rich Get Richer 2, the hordes can be long and big enough for you to use your ammo, especially if you use micro missiles or the Gauss Cannon (especially if you're using Plasma Rifle heat blasts and/or stun bombs in conjunction)

... and unlike Eternal, you don't have unlimited automatic recharging chainsaw fuel.

So I actually run out of ammo and chainsaw fuel on the final two levels (Argent D'Nur and VEGA Core arenas are ridiculous and you'll use a shitton of ammo on them) and even pre-upgdaded Slayer on earlier levels on 2016 lmfao

In Eternal, I'm just like; "oh my chainsaw has recharged after 20 seconds, I get free ammo"

Siege mode wastes a very significant amount of Plasma ammo lmfao

Yes and no too. I played fully upgraded and no upgrade (including no Runes). Maybe I play it too much like CS:GO with trying to save ammo (I made a mod that at least 2 people struggled with in terms of ammo, while I didn't at all).

what makes the PB special in DE is that it's the anchor for all swaps(well I guess not punch swaps). It's the only fast swapping weapon that has both: big ammo, instant heavy alpha damage, hitscan. And weapons(as far as I know) all swap at the same speed so there is no need for an anchor to boost the speed of your other weapons

the only way to play good mp matches of doom 2016 is to gather people and make private lobbies

so i could play mostly only old games

so, doom collection, quake 1, 2 and 3 were my jams

alongside Unreal Tournament (weirdly i was only gonna find out about Unreal after i played UT)

when i bought doom 2016 i've had a relatively good desktop for my standards

it was a gtx750 and a fourth gen i3, i've bought doom 2016 around this time and well you can only imagine how atrocious it ran, only like 2 years ago i've got my main rig fully upgraded and now im satisfied with it.

DOOM II has kinda... not great base levels. I kinda feel bad for trashing Sandy but a lot of his levels weren't great. Besides, 2016 has a lot more variety in what you can do
