is it really??? ive never used it over lock on burst cuz its so op so i always assumed it was inferior
whenever i switched to the rocket launcher, i would shoot once, lock on burst, then shoot again
would basically melt almost every enemy

Hey y’all! I’m working on my first playthrough of doom and was wondering if anyone knew of a video that showed off how to do different glory kills? I know I’m supposed to be aiming at specific parts to get different kills but I was curious if there was a video explaining how it’s determined which kill is triggered
it really just depends on what angle you go for the glory kill at
it is kinda irritating sumtimes
Looking at a staggering demon at a different angle = glory kill. For example, look at a possessed soldier's legs, and glory kill it to see the "Sweep the legs" animation.
Mainly just play around with looking at a monster in different locations while they're staggering for a different glory kill, but be smart about how you do it and not waste time to leave yourself vulnerable.
@west crag @wispy hedge that’s what I’ve figured out already, but is it dependent on what direction the demons are facing? I’m working on the sweeping the leg mission and it says to look at the right leg but it keeps triggering the “grab the leg, trip, and twist” instead of “sweeping the leg”. Is that just me simply angling the wrong direction?
Some angles might make it easier due to less things obstructing the view of the desired spot

That’s what I was wondering. I’ll have to mess around with it some more to see if I can get it to trigger properly. I’ve been trying from the front as well so that might just be my problem
I also just realized, it's possible the "right" leg could either be referring to your right or their right - opposite legs if they are facing you. I don't recall which interpretation they are using.
Oh my gosh I didn’t even think of that 🤦♂️ That might just be the deciding factor. I’ll add that to my experiments list
I only know internally, they use their left and their right when it comes to naming parts and joints, but that doesn't necessarily have any bearing on what convention they use for the player's side, where the perspective is with enemies facing you 99% of the time.

I need help with a level I’m working on in Snapmap. The ID is E7TRRC4N, so people can find it, then look at it in the editor.
I’m not really experienced at all with FPS games, let alone Doom specifically, so I need a pair of eyes with more experience using Snapmap to help diagnose what’s wrong here. My current issue is with my spawn points in this level; the various spawn points are supposed to be activated and deactivated as the player progresses through the level, but for some reason, I, along with my classmates (This is for a school project), have noticed that deactivated spawn points are still being used at completely random (I wonder if part of it could be that I’m missing pieces of logic to activate and/or deactivate a certain part of the level; I’m pretty certain I am, since I’ve long since lost track of my logic in general). What am I doing wrong here? Is there a different way I need to go about this?

by the way, you can keep better track of logic connections and objects in your map by using Logic Chain Mode (V on a connected object and wasd to select/navigate connections) and Find Next (F on an object), which will go to the next object of the same type in your map, which you can keep scrolling through by repeatedly using F
Is the map non-linear or something? Where the order you activate certain respawn points depends on which direction you go in the map?

My recommendation if the map is non-linear is to completely centralize the spawn point disabling so that you basically have a "disable all player spawns" function you can run before enabling the desired spawn point. This will make it a lot less tedious to manage and less prone to error, as you'll only have to worry about which spawn you want to enable, rather than having to think about which spawns the player may have enabled before this one to now disable them.
and to clarify what I mean by centralizing it, I just mean having only 1 node in the map to disable spawn, connected to every player spawn in the map.

I just had a thought - If I have all of the spawn points disabled by the same disable node, which is linked to all of the “On module enter” nodes, would that even work? I’m not sure how the system goes, but if you have multiple conditions linked to the same node, does that mean all of those conditions need to be fulfilled at once for the node to activate?
no, multiple inbound connections just means any of those conditions will activate it
That makes me wonder something now. What I just described is how I have my boss door set up, and based on what I learned just now, just destroying one of the Gore Nests is enough to unlock it. How do I set this up properly to require all the nests to be destroyed to unlock the door?
You're correct, only 1 would unlock the door in that case. You could use a Count object under the Flow category. Set Max Count to the number of gore nests that need to be destroyed, Add to count for each Gore Nest destroyed, and then unlock door On Count Reached

then yes, the setup is good
though if it turns out that vacumn doesnt affect the armor dropped from glory kills, i would put savagery in place of it
those animations can lock u in a position where an enemy has enough time to hit u with a damaging attack after you finish the glory kill (possessed solider and imp's charge attack)
so savagery can come in clutch

Yeah 2016 guns sounded a lot heavier and louder and punchier than Eternal's.
Eternal did have some pretty good gun sounds, but they sounded a bit lasery and plastic toy-ish in comparison

In Eternal, chaingun shield, dash spam, and air abuse makes you untouchable to Barons
only thing barons are really good at is quickswitch practice lol all the other enemies die in a couple switches

So the Argent D'Nur fight with 3 Barons at once, a bunch of Mancs and Cyber Mancs, some Revenants, a respawning Caco, and many imps is a really tough fight

only argument i can think of is its too jerky to switch directions like that
it can feel kinda weightless sometimes
i think the enemies were designed with default movement in mind anyway, plus dashes feel more deliberate since theyre your only way to redirect your momentum in the air

But I disagree, the games are still challenging with air control.
i do wanna learn how to move without it so i can get an extra rune but its such a big learning curve after playing with it the whole game
I do think Eternal's air mobility is a bit TOO busted but that's mostly because of the meathook, dashes, and jump pads

I've been using Air Control, Savagery, and Blood Fueled for the vast majority of my 1,400 hours of Eternal
I used to use the slow motion one when I first started, but I hate it now.

Blood Fueled's speed boost in 2016 wasn't nearly as extreme as Eternal's
speed boost after chainsaws is so busted i love that they count them as glory kills
It's weird because Blood Fueled counts it as a glory kill...but Savagery doesn't count chainsaws as a glory kill, so you still have a slow chainsaw animation
i think its cuz they want you to use chainsaw as giving yourself a moment to regain composure but idk if it justifies how slow it is
especially with how theres only 2-3 animations per enemy type and theyre all slow asf

With remote detonation you don’t really need to have good aim in order to use it
For example you can aim for the side of a cacodemon and miss your shot, but when you RD it you can still hit it with the blast radius

New to DOOM here, I just got every upgrade on the combat shotgun’s explosive shot and now I’m clueless as to what I should spend the rest of my weapon points on. I’ve only got the tactical scope and micro missiles (with no upgrades) as the other weapon attachments I have too. Any ideas? (I have the rocket launcher and plasma rifle aswell)

Not even just stun bomb, but the heat blast as well
Heat Blast charges passively, unlike Eternal. Takes significantly less shots to fully charge, and can be used after any shot, instead of Eternal where you fill up a certain bar to heat blast
It also does a lot more damage and has significantly more range than Eternal's heat blast.
Heat Blast is bonkers in 2016, and it's already pretty good in Eternal despite being nerfed a lot.
The only bad thing about 2016's Plasma Rifle is the base fire. But the mods make it the most useful plasma rifle in the whole series.

Also fun fact, if you kill all the waves before destroying the buff totem, the spirit will end up getting a Carcass instead of a Baron lol

The ending to Argent Tower is godlike and the way you explode to Hell is legendary.

Actually if it was just arms and then left shoulder n right shoulder (as opposed to it being left arm right arm, the shoulders being bundled in) it would be on par with halo 4 and halo 2 anniversary's customization besides having visors (although the better color/pattern customization more than makes up for that)

I am having a mild issue. DOOM 2016 refuses to launch. As in, I click play, 3 seconds later, the 'stop' button goes away and it's back to 'play', with absolutely nothing opening. I've updated my drivers, manually added it to NVIDIA's control panel, verified integrity of the game's files, and full-on uninstalled and installed it again. I'd appreciate any help

the range just seems too risky for me to use, and it cant really falter a mancubus, and the fact that it does not cost ammo isn't enough to convince me to use it, because rich get richer exists, and theres more ammo littered in this game than there is plastic in the oceans

so, at one point, I was trying to get some of the multiplayer achievements with a friend of mine, but they didn't unlock at all even though I definitely got the unlocking requirements for some of them

I am so angry right now. I have never had an issue before, but now when I start the game, it loads to 99% and then hangs. I have nothing interfering with it; hell, the only thing running when I try to play is Steam. I have tried all of the troubleshooting I could, and nothing works- verifying integrity, re-installing, clearing cache/shaders/etc. NOTHING works. It starts loading normally, then gets to about 85-90, then jumps BACK and then jumps to 99% and just sits there, dead. There is no activity in process. It's just dead. And I am NOT making an account just to report it to Bethesda. I don't need an account to report bugs to any other games I play. I'm not about to go giving data to a giant corp to scrape when there is literally ZERO reason for them to need me to do so. So if someone here could please help me with this, I would really appreciate it.

tactical scope is just useless, even with the mastery
Mobile turret is slower and slows down your mobility
Mobile turret also doesn't have mini explosions and splash damage
It's extremely good at cleaning up fodder, or finishing hurt enemies.
If you want to full auto snipe a shitton of imps (who are arguably the most dangerous enemies in the game on Nightmare difficulty) you can do so with the scope

Hey guys, I can't run doom 2016 from my steam. I deleted it few months ago and decided to play it again, but when I click "play" it just crashes after 2-3 seconds after clicking
while i am aware of this i mainly use it to increase the har's firerate
by literally spamming the mod button
Delete it. Delete download cache,go into steamapps folder and delete the doom folder along with saves on the hard drive. Or you can always try and go into steam,go to your library settings and click on fix library if I'm not mistaken. That should do the trick mate

They're so different that it can be hard to say what's better.
The combos and movement you can do in Eternal is more satisfying though.
But 2016 has an official Custom content tool called SnapMaps and Eternal doesn't have any custom content tools
If anything, Eternal and 2016 complete each other, and where Eternal falters, 2016 succeeds, and where 2016 succeeds is where Eternal can falter.
Both games feel a bit incomplete without each other.

No. UV is fine for 2016. Nightmare is unbalanced and isn't a great experience; makes the early game very punishing only to become monotonous by the time you get to the fifth level or so.

i disagree, nightmare 2016 is way more punishing that eternals due to the fact that since you dont have much in terms of survivability other than some runes, the only thing you can protect yourseld with is the guns and while the guns are op, eternal gives you wayy more options with the flame belch, ice grenade, dash, etc
Doom enternal likes to introduce harder enemies in earlier levels. They also do a lot of damage, more than 2016. Nightmare is way worse in enternal
Those options you talk about won’t help much if your getting one hit by every enemy

nope, they def do help, they help alot as if you do not take advantage of those options you are putting yourself at a disadvantage (dodging attacks, regaining armor) whereas in 2016 those options dont exist
hell even glory killing was more of a hinderance in 2016, as doing so would only grant you like 5 hp if you were over 100 or so health, and armor is bascially nonexistent
you have that glory kill for armor but its still not worth it as even while uprgaded only gives around 10 armor which is useless when a possessed does like 50 dmg
moral of the story: nightmare is unbalanced

Also you could get trapped and killed very easily right when the glory kill animation ends in 2016, meanwhile in Eternal, you usually could dash away after the glory kill animation ends and be safe

Their ranged spews do 105.
Eternal Nightmare Cacodemon bites do 150, and their ranged attack do 70.

unrelated but I find it weird that there's 2 different Cyberdemons that from my knowledge are unrelated from the mainline Doom series
There's the original Cyberdemon, which returns in Doom 2, Doom 64, and then eventually in Doom Eternal under the name "Tyrant"
I assume that's the same species, but then there's the Cyberdemon from 2016 which is similar but also different (and more powerful) at the same time
