For some reason, this game was more boring than I remembered, and that makes me so sad because this was once one of my favorite games of all time, and now it seems I much prefer Eternal? Also some of Eternal's songs felt like weaker and less brutal versions of 2016 songs.

Like Super Gore Nest being a weaker and less intense version of Rip and Tear.

Metal Hell being a weaker and less brutal version of Rust, Dust, and Guts (which is probably the most angry and brutal song in the whole series)

The techno ambience and urgent tracks of Mars Core sounds like a weaker and less weightful version of VEGA Core.

But my all time favorite is probably Flesh and Metal.

Yeah the gimmick part killed the epicness behind Doomguy, made it a caricature. And about the exploration, the fact that you can't crouch and there are runes to look for things for you, made it more boring. And yeah, fights are too agile for a tough guy.

Don't think there's anything wrong with Doomguy being agile though.

I will say that Eternal's dash and air mobility spam is so strong it kinda removes tension in fights and makes you a bit untouchable.

I thought 2016 Doomguy was agile enough to feel fluid, but grounded enough to start a lot more tension.

Dodging also was more about strafe skill and fakeouts, rather than dash spamming or abusing aerial time.

I found the former a lot more fun and tense.

Also you can get six trillion resources flying at you every second and enemies don't do nearly as much damage.

2016 resource drops are a lot more punishing and lower and armor is really hard to recover.

Somewhat random but I think the guns and weapon sound effects were a lot stronger, heavier, and more metallic sounding in 2016 compared to Eternal.

Eternal guns seemed a bit quiet and thin, and mixed oddly, and bit plastic laser toy sounding, especially the chain gun.

I'll say this- one massive perk eternal has over 2016 is the weapons. eternal's guns are far superior DPS and accuracy wise. you can actually count your shots pretty consistently with each one across the board and they all have good stopping power, even without mods/base upgrades. whereas if you don't upgrade, master and spam the shit out of mods this game, you're pretty much helpless against the constant imp threat.

also more people should talk about how the shotgun is complete trash. at least doom 3's shotgun could reliably one-shot imps from up close, the one in this game is a wet fart with the sound design to match. I've had imps tank 3+ meatshots and I'm not 10 minutes in.

It's a single player game; use whatever you're most comfortable with.
Although I will say as an MnK user 99% of the time 2016 has some great controller aim assist. It's pretty subtle to where you can feel it helping but still far away from a CoD-like snap-to-aim.

Hey, I'm having a big issue. I use the PC Steam version of DOOM 2016, and I also utilize Bluetooth headphones.
When I play the game, there's no audio. It only tunes in a little while after the game has booted, and my headphones play the sound for when they connect to a device.
Not sure why. I don't have any issue with Eternal, and the headphones work fine in every other context like on the desktop.

The audio works fine when I connect the headphones directly to my computer with a wire.

Still can’t find anyone in any region? Just switch the servers and you might see 1 person or more

Keep switching modes to modes if you can’t find anyone in the lobby, I had that experience barely and I would do this from time to time until I found the player

If I melee an enemy and they aren't ready for a glory kill, sometimes it still does an animation. Is this a bug, or does it play the animation if the enemy is on low health without giving you glory kill perks?

The glory kill has to occur when the enemy is staggering and on low health

I know it's not super active here, but I decided to try the multiplayer achievements on pc. I heard it was too dead, but I managed to do them without help from anyone to boost any of the achievements, so I thought I'd dump the info here for anyone considering trying.

I had a bad connection + high ping to the EU servers (230+), and I'm probably a below average player, so you don't have to be cracked to get it done. I exclusively played the varied team modes playlist, it seemed the most active. There's not many people playing, but I would just search occasionally, and I found games that way. There's lots of max level players who've played for long, so be prepared. You will start recognizing names quickly. The matches will start at four people, so you won't need the lobby to fill to begin, just 4 people in queue. If more people queue they will be added to the game.

Here are some stats for anyone interested in what the grind is like:

Time Played: 23 Hours (according to in-game counter, not sure whether that includes queueing)
Time Period Played for: 15 days (didn't play every day, but played a lot some days)
Players Killed: 1855
Demons Killed: 49
KD Ratio: 1.05
Games Played: 219

Overall it's really doable, and honestly I recommend trying for anyone curious because it's a super fun mp. Running into so many max level players can be irritating, but more often than not there will be a few on your team as well to balance it out.
