Well despite the whole “super angry” thing Doomguy is relatively calm. He’ll only fight you if you ally yourself with the demons or pose a threat to humanity. Throughout DOOM 2016 Hayden constantly says that Argent can help humanity. His whole goal was to further humanity using the Demonic Crucible. Though that clearly failed. I think Doomguy recognized that Hayden had good intentions which is why he doesn’t “bully” him in Eternal

pretty sure you need to beat Nightmare first. Either way, you should have beaten it on nightmare first. Otherwise, realistically, you have no business playing UN yet since it's NM on permadeath. Sometimes, the game glitches and locks UN after it should be unlocked. If that happens, load up a nightmare save and beat the first checkpoint of kad sanctum

Oh it's a ball buster but once you get used to it it will solve your everything is melted issue because you cant just stand there melting. Kinda forces you to keep moving pick targets and keep going. Pick up issue is also solved and the large arena thing helps when everything is a laser.

Bolt is kinda doo doo in 2016. You'll want seige. A combo I use these days is stun and seige which let's you melt a manc. Bolt switch and it'll finish it off in one hit

Eternal did destroy remote detonation though. Can't forgive it for that bs

You need to remember that when 2016 came out it was thought of as a masterpiece also. The complaints you have just don't carry water with people that had nothing to compare it with so it holds up. runes are special items collected throughout the levels. Starting from lvl04, expect to see about two per map until you have the full ring of 12. Each rune provides a passive bonus to the slayer and can be upgraded once by completing relatively simple challenges enough times while they are equipped. Maybe collect a certain amount of ammo while the ammo boost is equipped or use equipment enough times when equipment boost rune is on. Stuff like that. Upgrade progress is not reset when restarting checkpoint so outside of a real speedrun scenario or ultranightmare, it's easy to max out whatever you like. There is an achievement for collecting and upgrading all 12

On pc, there is a glitch where you can equip more runes than you're supposed to. The game only wants you to equip 1 rune until you have acquired I think it's 4. But there's some wonky stuff you can do to equip more. On console, idk rip ig.

Eternal has runes as well but they are no longer "specific". Whenever you find a rune, you can select which ability it will become. This is to say that you'll have the 3 runes that you'll use for the campaign from the first three you grab and will likely only get the rest if you care about 100 %ing the game. They cannot be upgraded in DE

It's really not, it simply has a very different style of gameplay and combat flow. The game is not as fast paced as DOOM Eternal, and favours atmosphere more. The Super Shotgun is technically the only weapon you need to clear the entire game. You can also easily quick switch between Super Shotgun and Gauss Rifle just like in DOOM Eternal. The Rocket Launcher is far more powerful here too.
