Inside level 2 is a plasma gun hidden, so maybe look it up in youtube if you are still stuck there. But i think you can find a plasma gun later in level 3. So it wouldn't be critical if you missed it

Also, try to find the ssg in level 4, spend the needed 9 weapon points, and start the mastery challange, it can save you later

Yeah, including not just 2016 stuff but DE as well, like the game functions, demons and some map parts. Maybe even with the ability to create cinematic shots for it, or just those echos.
Something similar to the doom builder for doom 2 map wads, just with modern doom

I remember spending a weekend on one snapmap on play station, creating the map, balancing, some secret weapons and of course decorating. It was fun, and i loved adding little details to some rooms, like a workstation. I spend so much time there, but it was perfect.

I think i might publish it, but i would test if all works properly, final balance of ammo/weapons/pickups, and maybe some rework of 1 or 2 arena fights, with some more effects, like wave based spawns, gore nest, etc

You get around 20ish and you don't really notice much in game. You should also check if your card has an auto sync it helps with vsync but doesn't effect performance as much

I had to learn how to do platforming like this from wolfenstein. The way the geometry and momentum work is pretty similar. I try to pause just before the jump so that my character plants his feet so to speak, then push forward then quickly jump. This seems to work since max speed is rapidly attained, but if you just run the whole way, doomguy is liable to be technically airborne from momentum and you won't be able to jump

Basically, the UAC was messing with Hell energy to fix the energy crisis on Earth. Samuel Hayden led the project. During an expedition, he found you in Hell and brought you back to the Mars Facility. By manipulating Olivia Pierce, Hell began to invade Mars. Her goal is to open the gateway to Hell using the Argent Tower. The slayer arrives too late and she succeeds in her mission, sending you to the first Hell level, Kadingir Sanctum. From there you find your way back to Mars to close the portal and stop her. That’s the gist of it. There’s more lore surrounding the Slayer and Samuel but it’s not information needed to understand the core storyline. At least not in this game.

While upgrading the ssg in eternal you enhance your meathook, giving you armor when maxed. 2016 increased the ssg just by the weapon, i think still with the same upgrade options like eternal with faster reload etc, giving you later 2 ssg shots for the cost of one. And you can carry up to 60 shotgun shells, making it even deadlier

yes. The stun bomb is OP as h*ck, and the base fire is good against shield guys and fodder. I never actually upgraded it in a playthrough, but the passive heatblast is great to clear fodder or as a lil extra damage in arcade mode(since I have it there)

Wall imps are the worst....immune to glory kills and I swear to hell they get increased accuracy and damage resistance

this game has the same weird thing with Doom 3 where all bosses are in the last few levels of the game

Doom 3 had the Vagary in alpha labs sector 4 but she's more like a mini boss

It's definitely useful I've used it in my last few nightmare runs. For one great finisher also you can melt a hemkknight if you land the hits. Rockets are better for dps but heavy rounds can still melt a room

I've died so many unfair deaths in 2016 because I couldn't hear an enemy that was right behind me because of the shit sound mixing

I've fiddled with both Windows and Sound Blaster Command and nothing worked
I think it's just the game itself

So that other AU I have I mentioned in #doom-eternal a few minutes ago, it’s more of a 2016 AU

It’s called “The Sanest Place” and centers around a marine unit, designated F-90, who is sent to Mars to clear the UAC facility there of demons

The Slayer is dead in this AU, he never got his powers and died after defeating the Titan in Taras Nabad, all he is now is a legend

Unit F-90 is really part of a project Hayden set up to replicate that legend

Hayden is fucking evil in this AU, like Betruger levels of evil
He’s so obsessed with the Slayer that he’ll put others in danger just to further his dream of a “modern Slayer”

Meaning he caused the Hell invasion on Mars and had Olivia act as a coverup, and he directed the demons to Earth too

And for the marine project he stripped soldiers of their humanity and tried to turn them into killing machines because that’s all he saw the Slayer as

Another theme here is that the Slayer was who he was in the legend because of his humanity, and the marine units in Hayden’s project failed at their jobs because they had no humanity
