I bought the 25th anniversary DOOM 3 from the Beth launcher last night, but I'm unable to load the game. As soon as it boots up, I get about 2-3 seconds of sound and then it crashes with a white screen.

It puts you in the shoes of an average guy facing the demon invasion. It's a different perspective on it. How everyone else would deal with that situation if they weren't the doom slayer. If you look at it in that perspective you'll really enjoy the game.

I have to say though it sounds like you were either horrible at the game or played on a very easy difficulty if you didnt have that I'm a badass feel when playing doom 3. Maybe try and play past an hour and see what happens

If you have a 360 it's possible since the original Xbox port is backwards compatible. Hell that was my first experience with DOOM 3.

I always recommend the original PC version of Doom 3 whenever possible, not because it is the original experience but because it doesn't feature changes that makes some aspects of the game less...well good

I am not gonna say Doom 3 has great level design, for like 75% of the game it doesn't for me. But you can see the efforts of making an action horror game with the original release.

I know according to the devs that worked on DOOM 3, the idea of remaking the first DOOM was pretty controversial within Id especially since Kevin Cloud and Adrian Carmack opposed it cause they didn't want Id to go back to their pre-existing IPs too often.

And that what got them to agree was that the success of RTCW (Return to Castle Wolfenstein) and advancements in rendering tech at the time convinced most of the staff (including John Carmack) to basically tell Cloud and (Adrian) Carmack, "Let us remake DOOM or fire us."

It's funny to think Doom has been remade/rebooted twice.

Like Doom 3 used what little backstory there is to the originals and has a bit of Tom Hall in it, whereas Doom 2016 basically reboot the series (again) based on the original's gameplay and community mods and all that.

I doubt there will ever be a Doom like Doom 3 again, but I think if for some magical reason the id team or some other studio want to do a classic styled Doom title, they probably would do it in the style of Doom 64

Doom 2016's Uac is taken straight from doom 3. If anything you get a deep dive look into the evil corporation when they first get into contact with hell. In fact , if the timeline it gave wasnt in the 2100s it could easily be canon as a prequel to everything. Playing as a basic solider in the middle of it

yeah that happened to me on PS4, here's how to fix it... go sign in to Doom 3 again and then open Eternal back up

if it doesn't show up after a few minutes leave Eternal and reopen the game

it shows up later after you get the classic Doom skins for some reason lol

Also you did not buy the remasters, so you won't get the skins. They were advertised to come with only the remasters. There isn't anything unfair about it.
To add, while they are included, the ports that come with doom eternal lack features and are more like the original dos ports. While the remasters look and run better with mod support.

after killing 5 demons, they'll say "use us" and it'll fly towards whatever target you aim it at. I would recommend using it on archvilles, commandos, chaingunners, and hell knights because they get really frustrating later on

Meh didn’t really throw in anything that new, the bosses were meh as well. Some areas were super confined too, it’s not bad but not as good as Roe.

Hell maps in all 3 were good but 3’s had the best intro sequence

Roe had the most lackluster combat because by then the artifact is so OP you can kill any amount of demons with it

#

Lost mission best combat and some good scenery as well in hell

But yeah for the price of admission on a watered down doom 3 and cheat disabled og dooms only for 1 piece of actually new content is meh

Sure sikkmod is cool but you can’t actually use half the stuff it injects into the game cause the engine can’t render it properly

Redux has reworked all the textures to 4x the pixel count or more and even refinished the hud and UI in the pda

It’s run all the pda voice logs through a filter to add consistency for all the audio quality and added background sound to some for people in engineering

#

ultra wide resolution are added to ingame options as well so you don't have to mess with config files

Well you have to hold down the sprint button or the crouch button to do so in the ps3 version and trust me that's terrible.
And I think you can't change fov in the ps3 version.
And the ps4 version has dynamic shadows and stuff like that

But trust me the toggle sprint or crouch button in the ps4 version is the biggest reason.

But yeah that you have to recharge the flashlight in the BFG version is totally unnecessary because it takes like a half second to recharge.
Why not just take away that recharge thing.

Doom 3 fills in the dots as to how earth gets invaded tho. The “rescue ships” are used to send the demons from mars to Earth, which technically would have been the doom 4 game. As a sequel to doom 3

Which could mean that the universe the Slayer is in now is the Doom 3/ROE universe, and the Doom 3 Marine is now dead after ROE||
