I do like that BFG Edition makes your movement faster. Helps make aggression easier while also helping mitigate dead time between encounters (which are unfortunately rarer in BFG Edition)

If I ever get around to making that Campaign mod I want to make, I think I’ll probably set movement to BFG Edition speed, increase stamina a bit, and slightly buff all the weapons and crank the encounters accordingly

Unless weapons got nerfed in the BFG edition, most are already more than powerful enough. The shotgun is capable of taking out a hell knight in 2 shots with well aimed headshots.

Doom 3 has too much downtime. The combat is good when it happens, but it could definitely benefit from a bit of escalation. My campaign mod idea was to basically give Doom 3 an unofficial sequel in the vein of Doom 2: more enemy types, SSG, much bigger fights, and notably being set on Earth instead of Mars, with a trip back to Hell for act 3, where things escalate to almost slaughtermap levels. The main reason for the weapons being adjusted and buffed would be to make them better suited to bigger combat areas with more enemies running around

Technically you don't even have to shoot them, just pull out your Fists or Flashlight, aim a little to the chosen NPC's side so the dialogue prompt doesn't appear, then quickly turn towards them just as you start swinging; they'll go down in a single hit.

I might be more understanding if the weakness is the shotgun if irretrievably d3 weapons were similarly poor. While d3 isn't a tiny time to kill game, nor are most guns extremely accurate(spread on the chaingun, slow projectile speed on plasma, lack of railgun), the shotgun seems far and away the worst weapon. Then again... this is partially true for the classic shotgun. idk it's hard to think whether it not it's actually unlike classic with that

I have a platinum trophy in doom 3 bfg edition though. I finished Doom 3, Roe and Lost Mission on nightmare difficulty. It was a different challenge. I made manual saves so many times that I think I hadn't saved that much in any game until that day.
