If you’re being careful and observant you should be able to recover from most Doom 3 jumpscares in time to respond. Provided you always check behind you when a fight starts. In general that’s something this game has in common with Dark Souls: if you’re paying attention and are appropriately paranoid, you’ll avoid most traps easily

Every firearm type weapon but the chaingun uses that. And I still think it was wrong. 600 feet per second sounds underpowered even for a .38 Special, which none of the weapons are. Enemy bullets use that too.

It was from a 1992 issue of Field & Stream which is definitely not a scientific study

For reference a lot of low power bullets hit at least 700, while some of the more common ones are at least 900 averaged, and 1125 is the point they break the sound barrier.

I suppose it doesn't really matter, because you still aren't really dodging something moving 600.

I mostly wish that they went harder with the fast action stuff than they did. In particular I feel like the first half of the game doesn’t give you groups of enemies nearly often enough. I kinda want to use modding to make a fan sequel that ramps up the scale and pace similarly to how Doom 2 did for Doom 1

I think I’d probably use RoE enemies but ignore RoE’s story in order to justify using Betruger as the big bad again since he’s a good big bad.

I think a good idea for any Doom 3 campaign mods would be to cut the pistol and move the machine gun to its slot. That way it’s faster to scroll through the weapons. As it stands the pistol is basically just wasting space as the machine gun is straight up the pistol but better in every way, so the pistol is kinda pointless

@rich furnace the fact D3 is freaking dark... darkness in DooM 3 actually replaces good graphics (i mean, good graphics is decidedly lacking in the game), and the darkness is very good at its job (at replacing graphics)... coz all you need is just a set of weaponry, a flashlight and freaking dark environment around you 😄

I own solely the 2004 release of DOOM 3 on Steam since a while ago, does that mean that I’ll now get RoE + BFG Edition aswell, or will I still have to pay for them?

And it looks like they’re not replacing the BFG Edition with the 2019 release, the latter having Bethesda.net integration allowing you to earn a DOOM Eternal skin.
