And if on keyboard + mouse controls use the strafe left\right buttons instead of the turn left\right keys
Rest the game should be fine if you start from doom 1, although you might want to play Doom 1 episodes 1-3 then Doom 2 before touching Doom episode 4 as that's a huge jump in difficulty
Doesn't matter much if you are not playing on 4th or 5th skill level.. well maybe stay away from 5th difficulty on first playthrough is also a good idea
i just go with whatever the game automatically puts the difficulty on
so the 3rd one for doom 1

The shotgun is pretty good at range
You dont need to close the distance with most monsters as a result
One good thing I would say is to always have one gun as a “reserve” gun where you only use it where either you have absolutely no ammo, or am in a crowded situation. Generally I have the chain gun as it.

he has a unique style to everything that's in his maps. They're so much fun
funnily enough i use the chaingun the most
do i use something else as my main gun or
the shotgun is good enough for most enemies in doom 1
save your chaingun for when you're fighting something tougher, or are getting swarmed, or are getting close to maximum bullets
Honestly, from ages of playing doom 1, I have forgotten about the super shotgun
what i do is use the shotgun if theres like one demon only, chaingun if theres more and if theres a group i use the rocket launcher
if im bored which i havent been yet i use anything i wanna and that includes fists
which is probably not a good idea but still

you can handle two or three smaller demons with the shotgun
especially if they're not too close to you
i use the shotgun at close range because it feels good oneshotting demons
and i use it close range out of spite too because i got point blank shotgunned once and i hate demons 10% more ever since
Yes I totally agree. Though it’s not the greatest for me. If I play doom 2 or above with online multiplayer, my ping is so high due to me being in Australia, and that makes like a noticable 1 sec shoot delay for me.

I don't think it is a fucked up hitbox as much as a design miss up. The idea seems to have been to let you use the stairs and shoot it while falling without waiting a stupid elevator while lost souls and arch-viles try to kick you off.. but it is placed badly so you can just stand on the stair and kill it from there. (And also the monsters in cages can teleport in to give you immediate challenge but it is map30 so they all telefrag each other lol)

arch viles are damn near perfect as they are. The flame attack forces you to respect them while doing your best to kill them quick before they can res the whole map
it also leaves them open before and after it which is a great time to attack them
you'd need some very specific level design to make it work
stick that enemy into the middle of courtyard and it'll be a sitting duck

i guess the mancubus? the arachnotron fires plasma bullets and the cyberdemon rockets, and the revenants got some sorta in-between

making mods for kex is a bit more limited than say gzdoom for example, it has support for mbf21 and dehacked but not udmf, also it has a ton of json files you need to use to configure iwads and other stuff

slade’s the best editor for all wad related shiz so i recommend looking up a tutorial on how to make custom sprites wad for doom with it

To just replace sprites the lazy way you can just open doom2.wad with slade 3 to see a sprite name then add a sprite with the same name in your new file

even when i had a full stack of rockets

rockets are great against them, especially since they stand still for so long
just make sure they're a decent distance away
after finding out 4 super shotgun shots kill a arch vile greed took over me
i used to get close to them with the super shotgun like a mad man just to not waste my rockets
