I only really get scared off for a bit when enemy counts get too high for my personal liking
They probably like the freelook or something quite a bit more.

There are 2 main ways on Windows (not including building from source)
Downloading the daily build over at the Chocolate Doom wiki (if you want bleeding-edge)
Or get the most recent stable release at the GitHub page

A run-down for setup
Open the setup executable for some of the more basic setup like controls
And then open the Crispiness Menu in-game for things like colored blood, display settings, etc.

You’d usually bind quick save/load keys to the bloody function bar

I’ve never utilized quick saves in any other game other than games that crash often
if you use autosaves really often, keys closer to your WASD may be helpful
F key is too close imo
could accidentally hit it while moving
when you drag a file onto an EXE, it gives the full path of the file to the EXE
you’re most likely not listing the full path in the command line
I actually do, from the drive's letter to the .ini
got no other ideas except there may be some argument you have to pass in

Im using dsda now but anytime I move my mouse it starts walking like wherever I move my mouse to my character is moving to how can I fix this?

Check for vertical sensitivity in your mouse settings, set it to 0 (assuming you don't have freelook on)
probably youll find it somewhere in the either included or online documentation
and if I pull out weapons it switches sooo fast I want that to be normal again do you know how to do that?
you can't change the weapon swap speed in a port afaik

Hi there fellow Doomers! First timer here on this server. Would you guys recommend DSDA Doom for someone who only used GZDoom and not a speedrunner at all?:)
Just for the sake of keeping the game vanilla and crispy, i know the Unity port pretty much gives you that vibe, but i'd like to try out wads and have a vanilla experience
It most likely could. I only used it to play Sigil 2 and had personal problems with it but that’s more a me thing than really anything else

Maybe i should, i would play crispy or chocolate but rebinding the keys are impossible, im left handed and use the arrows and numpad, but the options take the numpad as arrows and command keys so when i bind idk rocket lancher for #4 it will bind it as left arrow
Yes, DSDA Doom isn't really specific to speedrunning. It just has some niceties that help speedrunners that you can safely ignore in favour of the rest of its features.

I can confirm on Bart Fuzz's half that Crispy's setup program ALWAYS registers as normal-keypad keys instead of numlock keys
When I tested it in Woof! to make sure it wasn't me just being stupid, it does not have this issue
So not being able to change keybinds with Crispy is not an issue with just them, it's an issue with Crispy/Chocolate's setup

lost all the atmo and made it even easier

its doom, theres practically no lore
you can tackle em at whichever order you prefer
although, probably doom 1 should be played before doom 2 because the latter expands on the monster and weapon selection so getting used to the smaller roster first makes sense
I also hears that doom 64 is just doom two but better graphics is it worth playing

doom 3 bfg is just doom 3 with less darkness and more ammo, so yeah can be skipped 🙂
If you wanted to play them chronologically it goes Doom > Thy Flesh Consumed (idk if that comes with your bundle but probably) > Doom II > Final Doom (again idk if you have that but you might) and Doom 3 has no connection to the other games so play it whenever but I agree with Mr. Mürk play the original Doom 3

if you find it too easy, pop it on ultra violence, and if you find it too hard, pop it to hey not too rough

difficulty in doom 1 and 2 mostly affects amount of monsters
well except for nightmare and itytd the former of which is meant to be near unplayable and the latter is hntr with double ammo pickups and halved damage
once you are done with all the pack I suggest also taking a look at final doom, specifically plutonia, but better gather some experience first
and also once finished with the official content, highly recommended to take a look at the community content, it's surreal how much quality there is

Just something I have been thinking on, I feel that it would have made more sense to be introduced to Hell Knights in Doom 1 then Barons of Hell in Doom 2. Since we got more unique and advanced enemies in Doom 2.

well hey at least the homebrew port for it was decent it even had its own application for brutal doom and now i feel like refunding the version i bought on the ps store
am i the only person who finds revenants easier than chaingunners
with revenants you can weave in and out of cover and use walls to destroy their homing rockets
with changunners they attack using hitscan
they might go down quicker, but you can't take cover or circlestrafe them
No lol a lot of people think that too
Revenants are harder to kill but they're much easier to dodge
Chaingunners are a plague because a lot of wads tend to spam them to oblivion
(Plutonia loves to pair them with Archviles too)
both enemies depend on context
also chaingunners infight among themselves revs do not
I once had to connect to the internet just to proceed through a level, and if I don’t I’d get booted back up to the menu.
This sucks.

I tried Gzdoom again and as much as I like that dsda/woof/crispy are in the debian repos and they're vanilla compatible
its hard to play doom without being able to set the fov at like 120
you can set FOV in DSDA too
Go to your config file and set gl_render_fov to whatever you like. default is 90
it's allowed for speedruns too iirc
I mean on a widescreen, a larger fov probably makes sense
Didn't think I'd ever find a reason to play keyboard only but I found a mod that kinda made it necessary

Playing this mod with a controller + keyboard or keyboard and mouse was annoying since I was constantly having to take one hand or both hands of the keyboard when I wanted to switch to exploration
Then quickly put them back when combat started again

That's the archville. Block its line of sight until the attack is over. As long as it has a straight line towards you, it can attack you

It's nothing I really tried to test out, its just been a hunch of mine but the super shotgun has a much larger spread at range then the normal shotgun making the normal one better for sniping at range at far away low and mid tier enmies has it will do more damage for less ammo

You’d be correct with the SuperShotgun and normal Shotgun. Interesting enough, and I’m sure others would know this - the SSG has the damage equivalent, when fired at point blank range of a rocket being fired.
yeah, it fires more pellets for more damage, but the spread is much wider where the normal is tighter. I find this to be genuis in that it makes them both viable in different situations. Im always switching to the reg to snipe something off in the distance

And on the Xbox One version - Kill a Cyberdemon with your Pistol. 40 to 50 shots of the Rocket Launcher and finish him off with the Pistol

It’s a source port made with Unity
The engine code is the same that has been used since they started porting the game officially to new platforms (Windows, Xbox, Xbox360, Playstaion3, etc). Unity is just being used as a piece of "wrapper code" around it, I believe it may be for the sake of multi platform portability, or some other technical detail like it.

any tips for Tangerine Nightmare's map08? Been getting my ass handed to me and it's becoming unbearable to play

I'm on the level "tricks and traps" on Doom II, but I'm stuck in this cage. Anyone know how to get out?
I'm getting sick of this issue so I'll just ask if anyone using Woof! is also having it.
With no apparent cause, the mouse randomly starts snapping and lagspikes begin on ANY map that can last from 2-8 minutes or until complete game restart, including base IWADS on v14.0.0
No issues from me, I build Woof! from source on my Debian Linux machine.
What is your operating system? Where did you download woof from? Can you check your system monitor for performance spikes when playing? Do you have any other heavy software running at the same time?
Checked for spikes previously, none seen
Windows 10 Pro, no incredbily heavy software that affects perf on any other game/port or previous Woof Versions

Like dude elevator music is not the best way to reintroduce us to Hell for the first time in the game. Compared to Doom 1993's Untitled being a banger.
You should probably do it anyway, the main developer is really good at listening to the issues on the project and even tries to reproduce bugs the users report being difficult to recreate.
And even if he can't, there might also be some other user with this issue elsewhere, who might also help with it.
also what I meant by a "lack of info" is the fact the bug is incredibly inconsistant
it sometimes just lags, sometimes it just makes the mouse snap, sometimes both
sometimes one can happen and then turn into one of the other two
the severity of it also is inconsistent
so I'm more on the side of "this ain't an engine issue" even though I've never had this issue before with any port, game, or Woof version as I've previously stated
