They will have more set routines and be more aggressive rushing towards you, which in turn means you can kill them faster and finish arenas faster

The master levels do have more dips due to the more chaotic moments

The game also actually still looks pretty damn good considering the port

Hi, would like to offer my own perspective on the whole thing with the Slayer potentially shredding and playing games.

These items very well could be canon, or they could be easter eggs. I know most prefer to think they are simply easter eggs, as the idea of the Slayer getting jiggy with it in between demon slaughter is ridiculous.
I would like to offer my own opinion: The Slayer may well have canonically owned these items and used them BEFORE he became the Slayer. Specifically, I believe it is in fact very possible that, for a time in Argent D'Nur, he may well have had hobbies like playing games and guitar before he became the Slayer.

I would further put forth my own speculation that he stopped doing these things after he became the Slayer, yet still cleans and keeps these items orderly and in functioning order out of nostalgia and longing for his life before this.

So I don't think these things would be out-of-character for Doomguy, pre-Slayer, to hold and play with after he's become settled in Argenta society and grappled with his trauma.

He had motivations and a personality, but I don't think the Slayer was fundamentally compatible with concepts like relationships, sex, hobbies, or anything like that after the Divinity Machine.

Doomguy was mentally intact and in control of his faculties enough that he became a very capable and cunning warrior even before he was the Slayer, and had earned the personal respect of the king. I like to think he healed from his trauma for a while, to a point where he could perhaps enjoy life.
If not only for a while.

Progression is important, but it's definitely not a bad idea to just go and get some health / ammo to stall for a bit until the big demons are in a better place

During my first run I pretty much entirely focused the heavies and super heavies and only used the fodder demons as health packs

i like to use bombs to bomb fodder like the pearl bombing

But it ended up being kind of worth it to just clear them out every once in awhile

I personally like to use the plasma rifle with the heat blast mod

Do a bunch of damage to build up heat on a super heavy, then turn around and kill like 15 fodder enemies at once

And using grenades is definitely a worthwhile way to get rid of them, but I personally used grenades a lot more to continue combos on heavy demons

My rule is to prioritize isolated enemies so you aren’t overrun often. You can kill fodder with drivebys, but heavies and superheavies take a bit more to bring down so it’s good to create chances to do so uninterrupted

Keep them stunned for as long as possible while doing a bunch of damage and hopefully killing them

Usually utilizing all of your equipment is essential on nightmare

So I got to ask, what is y'all's personal strategy for taking down Archviles. I'm getting to the point in this run where they're appearing again and I remembered that I've literally no strategy for them except unload literally everything I have

For literally every other heavy and super heavy I have a combination of weapon shots that will take them down every single time that I can memorize, but not for them

I usually just have to BFG them

I use rather rockets with the auto-lock, the chain gun with shield mod, freeze bomb with chain gun without shield mod, freeze bomb with auto shotgun mod. Those are my main strategies.

The biggest thing about archviles is that you can’t even give them a moment to breathe. Because once they have that moment they’ll try to spawn things in and mess you up entirely

I mean I'm good at overwhelming demons for sure, my big struggle is finding the right range to fight them at. I'm going to give those strategies a try for sure, though. They're small hip box but really high close range DPS is what normally messes me up because my strategy for dealing damage is just switching between super shotgun and ballista

That’s what I use a lot too. For archvilles it’s always been a medium-close range fight. In honesty you don’t want to be in any demons face unless you got the health and strength to back it up or you’ll regret it.

I'm going to start trying to keep my distance with Archviles and definitely try the auto shotgun mod, I don't use the normal shotgun for much anyways.

Other than that, I get up in demons faces a lot, especially any kind of leaping demon and those fat guys (I forgot the names). Sometimes it definitely backfires, but I'm usually able to get into a rhythm where I can dash in, super shotgun, dash out before I get hit by their close range attack, ballista, and then repeat

I use the meat hook constantly. When you latch onto them but jump instead of shoot it send you flying in the air and that gives you air mobility, the chance to do a lot of damage, speed, and just confusing them in general.

I remember being so pleased pulling a glory kill on a whiplash because I hated them so much. I didn’t know what I used against them but whatever I did helped kill them because now i despise cacodemons the most. They’re the biggest threat ever in ultra nightmare campaigns

Honestly I never had trouble with the whiplash guys. Once I stun them with pretty much anything they go down super easy

I just have to listen for their sounds and then focus in on evasion until I figure out where they are

Also yeah cacodemons can be really really annoying when they sneak up on you

Im planning to do the challenge to beat the game with only 1 suit perk and 1 sentinel crystal. what yall think is the best upgrade to take? im assuming its ammo and dash cooldown or mby weapon swap speed?
also at nightmare difficulty.

If you want a good metric on beating UN, play it in Extra life mode nightmare and don't grab any extra lives and not resseting missions. See how far you get there. That's a good indicator
