In fact, attempting SLOB causes the burst to take much longer to deploy for me. The reticle locks on, and THEN the launcher shows the locking animation. Those two events happen simultaneously when doing regular LOB.

Then lock on Burst on it to kill it.

Yeah. Back in patch 1.0 (release patch), for some reason grabbing climable walls and blood punch were both tied to FPS. If you had too high an FPS, Blood Punch just wouldn't trigger sometimes, and as for walls you'd lunge at the wall but not grab it

I think that's the big difference between the two. 2016 optimal play isn't bad per se, but Eternal has you actually doing more, input wise and just general gameplay (moving more often, using things off cooldown, etc). The player is "doing more" when they start playing more optimally

It's a very unforgiving Rogue-like, it requires a lot of time to master and even then is difficult to get consistent runs. It's very rewarding though, I bought it back in April and I have about 600 hours in it

It's pretty cheap everywhere too so I'd say to definitely give it a shot

I usually get like 4 of them because they don’t usually sit on one level together. And then I have to chase the other ones down. And then the same thing with cybers and revenants. And then the Barons etc. And all after 2 tyrants that hang off to the side, making a poor target.

I decided to try Mars Core ML on Nightmare (Switch). It was going well enough until I got to the bridge section and got stuck for an hour and a half. I think I’ll try again tomorrow. I kinda wish the main game was a bit more like this in terms of encounter design (not in terms of difficulty). Way more memorable fights that play with unique ideas and make better use of corridors

Also fuels my desire for official mod support even more to see what unique encounter ideas the playerbase would come up with. Even if it only let you play with object placement and level geometry was fixed, that would still allow for at least some really cool unique permutations (I’m aware that modders have managed that degree of modding on PC, but that’s pretty strictly PC only for the time being).

As someone who plays classic Doom, the idea of 500 HP being trivial is kinda weird to me (in Doom 2 Archviles are considered downright tanky at 700 HP)
