First, nice Darkwraith pfp.

Second, each enemy usually has a "best combo", there isn't really a universal way to deal with all enemies. And even the same enemy there might be better ways of dealing with them based on the arena, etc etc.

That said, PB (precision bolt) Ballista for long range, PB SSG for short range is very often a good/best approach.

Ok top of that, Lock On Burst mod is the best for dealing with every enemy, as 3 rockets kills or glory kills almost all heavy demons, and it can repeatedly fire at high health heavies and super heavies for high damage as well.

In regards to PB Ballista, doesn't matter which weapon starts, but for SSG and PB, you'll usually want to start with SSG.

For instance, 2 SSGs can sometimes kill Arachnotrons if all pellets hit, but sometimes you'll miss a few pellets. So the PB between the two SSG shots assures the Arachnotron kill.

If you stated with PB it would obviously still die, but it'd be slower by (the amount of time it takes to do 1 PB shot), and would use a bit more PB ammo. Nothing egregious, but something to still keep in mind.

to add to the above, starting close range combos (e.g. pb ssg) with pb can cause the target to falter relatively earlier than if you had started with ssg, i.e. pb ssg pb ssg is more lenient on spacing when killing arachnotrons, but in most cases you have to dash after the 2nd pb to avoid eating a claw swipe, because the spider will highly likely recover from falter before the second ssg. ssg pb ssg is consistent and safe at point blank range.

Anyway doom 2016 and eternal is very much unlike other fps games, the goal it to shoot hardest demon until it flashes, if you get hurt kill fodder demons with glory kill, when big demon flashes glory kill it and move to next closest demon until another big one shows up. Doom is based on the idea of push forward combat, no taking cover, no waiting, no pop shots, beast mode through it.

Not releasing your thumbsticks allows you better movement, aim, and air control because you csn focus better on targets. To me, chainsaw, BP, Flame B, and grenades are a single button press actions so you don't constantly use them as the other ones that I mentioned. That's why I prefer to sacrifice those and have to lift a thumb for 3 of them - I don't on chainsaw since my finger actually reaches that button

Not right now. I’m getting burned out from the difficulty of the game, and I’m doing a HMP run through of everything to practice PB (which I almost never used before) for now. Maybe someday after I’ve beaten all the MLs on UV, I’ll try them on NM.

Yea NM is definitely an adjustment lol, and yea definitely get the hang of all of your arsenal, especially flame belch as it will be crucial for NM should you try it.

I'd also recommend leave it for last.
