The 2016 suit is referred to as "Original Praetor Suit", and I'm pretty sure the Suit Tokens you get from the Night Sentinel ghosts are shorthand for Praetor Suit Tokens.
I interpret that as his 2020 Eternal armour as being THE Praetor Suit, just modified and upgraded.

The reason for this is likely that the 2016 armour had an interdimensional tether system logged into it, controlled by Doctor Hayden, which Doomguy didn't want.

They don't really WANT to play it, and so they don't want to learn it, etc. etc.

And honestly I don't get the hate for "there's cosmetics locked behind multiplayer achievements". Because guess what? There's also some locked behind singleplayer achievements, which "on paper" are the exact same thing except obviously more people got DE for the Singleplayer rather than Multiplayer. But that's THERE problem.

Either there shouldn't be achievements locked behind EITHER game mode, or there should be some for both. I don't get the concept that only one should just because that person doesn't like multiplayer.

I think BM is very cool when you get to learn it. It's just got such a steep learning curve it's almost impossible for players to get to. And that's not to say there aren't issues with it.

I think people could learn to get over the Slayer's lessened kit (no AC, some mods being worse, etc etc), but on top of that, the demons have so much cc against the player in the form of tox box, loot block, and hell even just body blocking, that the slayer simply has to accept. There's obviously ways to play around it, but sometimes it can be frustrating.

In particular I think Pain Elemental, while one of the best demons in BM, is extremely balanced. But it DOES feel bad that there's technically no way to "play around shield" other than to wait it out (or dash around PE with high latency because lol ping). I think maybe if damage could lessen the duration it could maybe help, but then you have to play around with the damage values and such and... it'll never be perfect.

But unironically high level BM, super fun. Just wish they could have been able to fine tweak stuff, or give some decent learning curve (i.e. actual matchmaking)

Well Battlemode doesn't give fully upgraded Lock-On Burst, so it's just objectively slower.

Even doing something like SLOBS it's gonna be kinda slow cause you don't have the mastery, which increases the speed of lock on against single targets in a... weird way.

that's an interesting way of thinking. difficulty select doesn't control what's in a given level, only some global numbers, so being a NM player is irrelevant when talking about the part of difficulty that level design governs. beating hearth on NM doesn't immediately mean you can beat the holt on NM. you can continue this chain of logic almost infinitely into modded content.

The stun lasts a long while, and it gives a decent amount of ammo that you can reliably use JUST the hammer and no chainsaw and still be fine on ammo economy. Combine that with the fact that flame belched enemies drop immense amount of armor and ice bombed enemies drop immense amounts of health with hammer, and it will always keep you alive by
A ) stunning enemies so they can't hurt you at all
B ) refilling your stack up to full

The most notable way its OP is by stunning Marauders with it. Stun Marauder, hammer, and you can do ANYTHING to kill the Marauder from that single hammer (on top of stunning everything else that's around you).

Well the MOST notable way it's OP is the fact that it's also easy to gain charges. If say the hammer was something like Crucible (which I'll admit, I am glad it's not JUST like crucible where it's a limited amount of times based on charges), it'd be strong but you could only use it a few times. But having it based on 2 Glory Kills, or 2 weak points (weak points in particular) makes it very easy to use. In particular, if you're in an arena and say there's 4 Revenants grouped with other enemies, you can stun the enemies, pop 2 weak points quickly while maybe doing some other damage to the enemies, hammer again, pop 2 more weak points, hammer again.

There's a lot that could be discussed about hammer in TAG2, but most people believe that 2 charges is too little. Personally, I'm of the opinion it should have charged the same way Armor/Health for blood charge, i.e. "If you are good at the game, and play aggressively without taking too much damage, you can charge hammer fast"

How do you "cheese" Ultra-Nightmare? It's Nightmare difficulty without your health ever hitting zero- plus you start with no upgrades and gave to earn and invest them as you go.
As long as you're not skipping things entirely by phasing through walls and exploiting glitches, anything goes.

……that’s not how Doom works. The campaign and DLC have extremely high replay value though. Especially on higher difficulties

Multiplayer is kind of an afterthought that only a tiny percentage of players care about

Eternal has a lot of additional content that you can jump into after finishing the campaign besides mp

and yeah, all of it comes with a lot of replayability too

Also while playing the single-player helps you somewhat be prepared, Multiplayer is another beast that isn't 1:1 single-player:multiplayer. Lotta things you need to learn/get used to, especially at higher level play (as rare as that is nowadays)

So the demon “supposedly” killed another player in the campaign. If what that entailed was more unique and dynamic, perhaps it could be interesting. But all it entails to the player is a random demon with buffed stats.
