Playing The Ancient Gods on Switch, and there is a specific staircase in the Blood Swamps which is completely bugged, in my play through, prohibiting me from progressing through the level. I have tried loading my checkpoint and exiting to the main menu and going back in, neither worked. I would like to note that while that is confirmed to be Doomguy's family from before the events of Doom II, nowhere is it confirmed they were married or in any romantic relationship. This is just assumption from fans going for the simplest conclusion to that information.

I'd argue it's because aside from the obvious necessity of microwave beam, Samur doesn't force you to fight Samur in a unique/specific way. It's "an arena vs. an enemy you shoot", and how you go about it changes. You can use multiple different weapons, be proactive in the fight or reactive, etc (I could go into the specifics about the proactivity vs reactivity).

Davoths fight is almost entirely reactive, and instead of reinforcing what youve learned in the game (fast movement + shooting asm much as you can while keeping your resources filled), the game forces you to move slowly so that you MIGHT get the chance to react to Davoth (assuming his AI decides to work). There's almost nothing you can do to actually improve/speed up the fight, no player agency. The only time there is is for health bars 2 and 3 which have very difficult 1 cycles

Unironically the best way to do the fight would have been constant demons, and Davoth could heal when he kills his own demons, to incentivize the player to kill demons faster than Davoth can while also shooting/fighting him.

Here's how I fix Davoth.
-Remove the green light mechanic. Replace it with a parry system where Davoth will, occasionally, feint an attack. If you try to hit him as he does this, he will parry you and "glory kill" you, dealing massive damage a-la what you do to the Gladiator in his first phase. Davoth starts doing this in Phase 2 and slowly starts doing it more and more as you get further in Phases.
-Davoth's hologram-summoning attack is replaced with spawning a small wave of demons. A timer starts; kill as many demons as you can before it goes down. Any surviving demons when the timer goes down will be sacrificed to Davoth and replenishes his health. Encourages efficient demon-killing, heightens a parallel between you and Davoth.
-Make Davoth more aggressive. The heat of Hell is simmering. You can withdraw from fighting Davoth, but if you stay out of his vicinity for too long, your armor (not health) will slowly deplete. Davoth bides his time and waits to attack, but can you afford to do that same?

I think those mechanics could be really neat and make his fight better without completely upheaving how it works.

Tyrants don't have a damage cap from BFG, they only have a damage cap for SSG shots/pellets. They take reduced damage from the tendrils, but more impact/splash damage (basically they didn't want tendrils to be very effective against super heavies, instead incentivizing/rewarding players for aiming at supers).

Now for the question on Unmaykr. Theoretically it can do more total damage to a Tyrant I believe. Each bolt does 200, x3 per shot is 600. 1 BFG (30 ammo) does 6500 + 30 per tendril tick.

30 x 600 is 18000, so technically Unmaykr can do more damage to a Tyrant. It will do this a bit slower, and you have to make sure all your pellets hit, but the numbers/math sorta adds up.
