it provides excessive resources across the board, eliminating the need for good flame belching, glory killing, and chainsawing. on top of this it severely reduces the need for good positioning and enemy threat management, as anytime that's an issue you can just daze everything somewhat close to you. generally, this game promotes efficient usage of your arsenal and maximizing the utility of each weapon, but the hammer is more like a universal solution which therefore limits player skill expression. the hammer lets you get away with worse plays across the board while reducing skill expression (at the very least not increasing it).

in a vaccuum yeah, but in the base game i honestly cannot think of a single encounter where a hell knight is even remotely threatening

not even early game where you have almost nothing

if you focus on killing it or escaping it, yeah, but then it's the same for any demon

if you move decently a hell knight has a way higher chance of killing you than a gargoyle or shield soldier

those 2 don't really do anything

gargoyles have perfect accuracy if you stand still, and riot soldiers have high DPS if you stand super close to them

and why would either of those 2 happen

hell knights have an erratic melee lunge, high sinngle hit damage, more hp, and cc capabilities

gargoyles are also introduced when hell knights are, and shield soldiers even later

riot soldiers have areas where they can be very threatening and gargoyles coming in very large amounts makes them pretty annoying to have to deal with even if they are fodder

i cant think of a single fight where a hell knight was really like that much of a threat, they die relatively quickly even in the early game aswell

just kinda move backwards and shoot and they are dead, and often they are like the first thing that appears in an arena right infront of you so its not like they surprise you ever

that or they spawn in alone

the only slightly threatening hell knight encounter is like the one in the purple goo in arc complex iirc but even then like, he does so quickly before he even gets close to you as you have most weapons at that point

if you take any given fight, a hell knight would present a much greater threat than gargoyles or shielf soldiers
and thinking about it as "an encounter where this specific demon presents a large threat" is kinda useless as that's not how eternal's combat or encounters are built

riot soldiers just should not be an issue in most arenas, and even if the arena is small, the same should apply

The mancubi are the real problem cause you can't move around freely so if you instantly kill them it's fine

and don't go in the little hallway offshoot, that's a good way to die, stay looping the middle

I didn't take any health damage during the buff totem part when I played it last cause you can just beat it like that

2016 is pretty short and the trophy list is manly complete the game with all collectibles and some extra stuff

if it's more than two though, like the 5 marauder fight in Slayerpalest Im doing this while also constantly moving back

if ur lucky the double marauders can be so in synch it almost feels like ur fighting one

but it varies between this and completely unsynchronized moves which i prefer, more challenging

those are very helpful especially when the one in the back spawns in and has to jog to you. i think my problem point is being stunlocked at either end of the tunnel and not being able to escape to the middle to chainsaw fodder + restore hazmat

yeah you gotta learn the marauder movement so you can weave through them

pro tip: The marauder won't side dash in the direction ur aiming

u can use this to make micro routes

i saw that you can extend their stunned time by throwing a grenade at the perfect time

here's another tip, aim a lock on burst, move your aim away from the marauder so the rockets hit his left or right side and subsequently his shield moves in that direction, and now with his shield aiming at the rocket's you can get a clean shot in and stun him whenever you want

its basically a free stun strat and then u can do whatever

it's like a way to force the marauder to stun

it's especially useful against any type of marauder buff bc sometimes the green eye flash either

1. Never shows up
2. Shows up, you hit them and it doesn't stun
3. Shows up and you fire and they shield block
4. They literally charge at you with the shield and get free hits with their gun

tldr my strat isn't "do mod swap cancel so lob hits" it's "use lob for a on command stun"

powered through the fight. i avoided the uphill sewage part of the area entirely since fodder was too far away to meathook with and stuck to the middle mainly, being in the air for as long as possible and focusing on surviving rather than outputting damage

honestly the main thing i dont like about master levels aside from the constant bugs is that i cant save and exit, that is a bummer. I kept the game running overnight so that I wouldnt have to replay it all over again because of that

chiming in on this: for me anyway, this is extremely difficult to pull on console, I've beat roughly %50 of Eternal on Nightmare (basegame, SGN, both DLCs and another master level I can't remember which) and yet I still can't do that stunt fast enough to make it work

You unlock the mastery challenge for each weapon that you upgraded to full

Read the challenge, do the challenges, unlock the special perk, just like 2016, remember that Gaius canon have a mastery challenge that require you to headshot a set number of hell knight? Eternal mastery weapons challenges works just like that
