depends on what clip you're specifically referring to, because i used a lot of different techs to swap so fast
but, you can do all of it on controller! it just comes down to using the right techs, and then getting the timing of it down

you're not necessarily doing it wrong, since that video is an extreme example

Yo guys, beginner here in doom eternal almost about to finish The campaign on Hurt me plenty, currently on Urdak
I'm actually completely new to this type of fast paced game, but I do wanna learn how to do this so called "quick switching" so it would be great if someone helps me (on my gaming laptop btw)

i'd recommend just starting slow, and do something like pb+ssg, pb+ballista or ssg+ballista for the easiest combo, don't worrt about speed in the beginning and just try to fire each time you swap to the weapon (no dead swaps!) and then switch
after that you can start working on pb+rocket, which you can do very fast (like in the video you saw), but you need to have pretty good timing, this is because in order for it to become fast, the pb needs to apply FSE (fast swap effect) to the rocket launcher

once you got that you know all the basics, you can start learning either pb+sticky or punch cancels

also, nice work with the pb sticky combo @real cargo!

it was quite the struggle even with the hammer but I've gotten better so it'll be cool to see my progress

The issue is How do I switch fast between the weapons bcs I can either Switch it by using Q or I have I can hold my mb1 to choose weapon from the weapon wheel or I can scroll up or down to the last weapons I used, but but the first two seem to be really hard to reach em during in a heat of a battle and the scroll up and down seems to be like the only way, but I still don't think I can pull it off

complex ones usually for super heavies
those arent intended to be killed the moment you encounter them, which is why demons show battle damage
so you can come back to them after circling the arena

Learn the SLOB combo (look it up on YT for tutorials) - precision bolt+rocket+immediate lock-on when the rocket leaves the launcher. Causes the lock-on burst to lock on super fast. So for any baron it would be 1 SLOB combo with 2 volleys of burst into 1x close range PB+SSG (also armored baron after destroying their armor). For spirited cyberdemon, just SLOB until rockets are out 😄 For Marauder, again SLOB with 2 volleys and a grenade in-between. I have a quick vid about it:

For Doom Hunter, just spam splash damage at their sled. If you got 2 blood punches, freeze them and double-punch their sled to destroy it, then a single lock-on burst puts them in glory kill state. You can also chaingun shield and blood punch. If you got 1 blood punch, use it on their sled and then blast an SSG shot and nade when they are staggered to get rid of the sled.

it's definitely not the best way of killing them by itself but incorporating full auto into combos is great

you can also run around and spam stickys at their feet until they die but that takes forever

If you have the rocket launcher I’d assume you have a decent arsenal at that point, so I’d mainly do a combo with pb something else and throw in rockets whenever he’s not stunned

the thing about eternal is that while it is very fun. it's very skill dependent and very exhausting. i probably would enjoy the game more if i just got good but idk, i prefer tda. i feel like i improved with tda quicker than i did eternal. with eternal i can hold my own on nightmare but not without getting my ass beat a bit

oh yeah definitely. only, to master it you need like 1000 hours on the game and gotta hard commit to it. i got 100 hours on the game and i'm just tired from it. the mastery level for the world spear broke me the most. i legit just quit because the arenas just would not end 😭

I mean I think I have like 250-300 hours and I really got it at like 100, so it really just depends how fast you progress

I beat UN at like 100 hours then at 120 I UNed all the master levels, I learned a lot by playing them on normal nightmare

What tech? You don’t really need to be good at quick switching or doing damage quick, movement and positioning is way more important and something I need to work on

that insane quick swapping for starters. as well as one-cycling marauders. there's also a slingshot trick with the ssg that's kinda funny. that one i can do tho. not consistantly but i can do it

Quick switching is actually pretty easy to learn, just force one combo over and over until it’s muscle memory

Also what ssg trick? Yeethooking or just keeping the momentum from it?

I would honestly just try to do it faster, see if you can press your hotkeys a bit quicker, if it doesn’t work see why it’s not working, then fix that, you’ll be quick switching fast in no time

Yeah it’s pretty cool, I don’t use it at all though, I find normal meathooking is enough, it’s probably helpful sometimes though

I just started incorporating stuns with the plasma gun into my gameplay and it’s so good, I should have sooner

I don’t like using the chaingun shield anymore so I need another way to get out when I inevitably goof up and put myself in a bad spot

Yeah, I relied on the shield a lot to get my first UN run but it’s just so dumb, you can get out of anything with it so I developed bad habits from it, I’ve gotten a lot better since I stopped using it and super weapons

Especially hammer, that thing is so stupid

Idk why but thinking of the hammer reminds me of the last arena in unreclaimed earth

there are tons, one would be just spamming random combos and falters (very fun), or you can do a normal opening, end with pb->rocket for a slob which you aim away and then hit him with a ballista shot or something and combo him again

you can also use feet ballista

or just 0 cycle with the lob redirect
