there's probably 3 reasons as to why you get cornered
if you tunnel vision (extremely ommon) on a specific demon and stop moving, only staying in one area and moving into bad positions

if you can and wanna, the best thing you can do is send over a gameplay clip

  flame belch: lights enemies on fire, making them drop armor. more damage dealth=more armor, and if you kill an enemy on fire, you'll get the max armor amount possible from that demon.
  frag grenades: deals a bit less damage than a rocket in a decent large radius and hard falter demons in it.
  ice grenade: freezes demons. frozen demons take extra damage with a certain suit upgrade.

-weapons
heavy cannon
base fire: useless, except for staggering fodder.
micro missiles: deals good damage but eats up heavy cannon ammo. the missiles are slightly homing.
precision bolt (pb): often used for destroying weak points. many do however use it to quick switch as it's quite instrumental in that regard.

combat shotgun
base fire: useless.
full auto: good damage, but it chews through ammo like crazy. the main usage of this mod is with its mastery, which allows you to get shells back after killing a demon with it (3 from fodder, 6 from heavies, 9 from super heavies). it's a great finisher on demons because of that.
sticky bomb: good splash damage, great for clearing out loads of fodder, can also be used on larger demons. a headshot with it will deal the same damage as a rocket, and it becomes much better with some quick switching "tech".

plasma rifle:
base fire: only good for staggering fodder or charging the heat blast.
heat blast: great tool to get out of a bad spot because of its AoE hard falter, and ability to destroy weak points. it's also great to incorporate into combos. has 3 tiers, each dealing more damage.
microwave beam: can give you a somewhat accurate readout of demon hp if you can't eyeball it. what it's used for is however to tap demons with it, this will yield a longer stun, allowing you to make room, reposition yourself, "confuse" the demon, etc.

rocket launcher:
base fire: good damage, good splash damage. splash damage can also affect you. becomes very good with aforementioned quick switching "tech".
lock-on: very high damage, good for larger demons.

remote detonation: gives a soft falter in a larger radius. great for CC. a rocket you explode with remote det will however deal less damage, but this is negated by hitting many demons. you can also make up for it by exploding rockets you missed.

chaingun:
base fire: no real reason to use it.
mobile turret: great damage, but chews through ammo a ton and restricts movement.
shield: offers a 360° shield, blocking any incoming damage. its cooldown is also very short. great mod, especially if you wanna get out of a bad situation.

base fire: very high damage. great against larger demons.
meathook: best movement tool in the game. can be used to pull you into demons, detach by jumping will get you into the air, and "yeethooking" gives massive speed.

ballista:
base fire: deals as much damage as a rocket, but (almost) no splash. is great if you use it to ballista boost, a more advanced movement option.
arbalest: good for cacos and pain elementals as it deals increased damage against them, but that's it. has very high splash damage.
destroyer blade: extremely good mod. you can negate the movement penalty by charging it in the air or bhopping.

if you learn how to quick switch, mobile turret becomes redundant, and essentially the same for micro missiles.

I made the fatal mistake of doing the Slayer Gate

It's a shame I got destroyed so easily by Blood Maykrs too, I got pretty far in

I guess it's a rule of thumb: whenever the demons that need to be shot at a certain time show up, it's all over

crucible doesn’t do much, if somebodies already playing UN chances are a free one shot isn’t doing them any favors they can’t do if they spared a few extra seconds, not gonna refute there being more enemies, cuz it’s true, and I don’t see the relevancy of the BFGs utility other than there being more super heavies, which under most circumstances should tank the tendrils

To be fair, I typically fight non-Marauder Super Heavies with Ice Bombs plus a spam of rockets, but the Crucible came in clutch for when I REALLY wanted one gone

Archviles are the biggest culprits

If you have frostbite for ice bomb it’s pretty easy to just freeze them then do two lock-ons in a row

Regarding extra life mode, as far as I'm aware, you can get all trophies in one run, but you can't go back. It has to be done all at once. And with bugged trophies, there's none that I'm aware of, the battlemode trophies maybe but nothing to knowledge. That's all I can help you with, but I'm sure others here can help

Thanks for the info! I did hear that one of the cheat codes in the Fortress of Doom only unlocks after completing 'Taras Nabad.' If that’s true, it could make getting all trophies in Extra Life Mode tricky since you can’t backtrack. Has anyone run into this issue or found a workaround?

I've found just being very thorough should help, using guides and the like as well. As for that cheat code, as long as you have access to the fortress you should have access to that cheat code, it should also remind you right before the last few levels that you can't return.

Anyway, the DLCs tell what happened after the regular campaign, so it's a whole linear story which is being told. All the parts work together, the main game, and both DLCs.

yup, and there's 2 things you can do to make the flaming hook essentially always useful
the common thing is to meathook --> ssg, this however kills your momentum and can potentially set you on an awkward trajectory
you could instead meathook --> swap to pb (if it's a fodder) --> shoot, that allows you to maintain all your momentum from the meathook, and you consume less ammo, albeit with a bit less armor gained
the second thing is to meathook --> jump to detach --> ssg for armor, this will again give you less armor, but it sends you into the air, great for moving around and restacking at the same time

ultra violence may get too easy for you so you try nightmare then realize its 5x harder

demons deal twice as much damage on nightmare than ultra violence in eternal so you really gotta move

I don't agree with this. In some cases yes, a soundtrack can make a game or film really good, saying it's the reason a game is good is ignorant to the rest of the effort put into the game. Ultimately the soundtrack does not add anything to the game, bar atmosphere. While i don't particularly care for mick gordon, I can agree to some extent that his music is alright. I'd wager that the TAG soundtrack, while less popular, is better and [imo] stronger than Mick's work.

No, slope boosting, the glitch you’re referring to, exists because the first patch had no limits on jump extensions, only ceasing when the game remembers you’re not in the extension zone anymore, for lack of better words, jump is bound to scroll wheel on mice with free scroll, or ppl use a macro if they don’t have free scroll, and then the weapon wheel is brought up to cram more inputs in cuz time is slowed, scroll wheel changes the weapon the weapon wheel lands on so that’s where you got that notion
