I told myself that it would take months before I started attempts, and that helped a lot with frustration for me, as I knew any death was just a step in the journey. From watching that clip though that was pretty damn good, you stay pretty collected and focused, and even when you make the occasional small mistake you fix it quite quickly. You never had even the slightest moment of panic, at least judging by your inputs and movement, and you seem quite good at the Speedrun tactics (I suppose I could be wrong since I've only seen a run where they were done well, but I digress) I think if you keep running, from your skill set you could definitely end up getting or getting close to WR

The way I got introduced to them was someone gifting me DE, watching a doom related video, saw the Batakanta response to UnderTheMayo (of whom I already knew of at the time due to his god awful Dark Souls videos) and then I saw Batakanta explain how the ULTRAKILL combat worked just proving Mayo wrong but to me the simple points he was making sounded like someone describing the holy land, so with a bit of pressure from my shooter veteran friend I bought ULTRAKILL.

Never play Rainbow Six Siege lmao, you'd hate it. I don't know too many shooters to recommend to you, as a lot of the series I used to enjoy have fallen off a cliff. Getting a "perfect" run is a matter of time though. I've seen the skill you have and how you play and I know full well that you're capable of a WR or near WR time and so do you. The difference is that you seem to be choosing to look at your skill as disappointing, rather than outstanding. If you keep running I think you'll eventually get the run that you want, but that doesn't mean you can't value your current accomplishments for what they are and how good they are

Bed of chaos is a ds1 boss that is half the reason why I'm hesitant to start new playthroughs. I hate that thing so much. Even Miyazaki apologised for it. It as a disgrace. Gladiator ain't that bad I was just tired

Now he's just an occasional skillcheck whenever I play on limited life modes

Sounds awful lmao. I've never even really played a game similar to dark souls in terms of gameplay, I suppose the closest I've played would be Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which I was able to beat on Jedi Grand Master difficulty (the hardest one) without much trouble, but I feel like that would just be essentially a cakewalk compared to dark souls. Those games have always seemed like they could be fun, since I like challenging myself, but I've just never been sure about if I should play them or not.

Gladiator was the one place I would consistently lose lives in my eternal playthroughs, that's why I spent so much time practicing his fight. Now he's pretty meh difficulty though, since I spent so long making sure I would be good enough at the fight to beat it on UN.

Also Dark Souls is my favourite series of all time, you'll probably be going out of your comfort zone, but beating it no spoilers or guides has to be the most rewarding gaming experience ever. I have literally made my friend block all Dark Souls II content to not spoil it. Dark Souls is life. Dark Souls is love. And Dark Souls is screaming because they make you pay an extremely valuable item to just FIGHT an EXTREMELY hard boss with a runup that forces you to kill EVERY enemy every single ATTEMPT.

The thing about dark souls that keeps me away from the series the most is that I can't help but feel like when people describe certain parts of the gameplay to me that it sounds like it was designed to be tedious, not hard. Just now when you were talking about that hard boss, it sounds like fighting those enemies before EVERY attempt would be very tedious. Like does it also make you watch the pre boss cutscene every time too? That would be unbearable. (I hate it when games do that btw, one of my least favorite things in gaming)

Most bosses don't have a cutscene and only appear once.
My favourite one is also the most flawed, the second. Absolutely not for the impatient. For 1 and 3 and Bloodborne and the rest, you can usually ignore enemies back on the way to bosses and just run into their arenas.
They do feel like they try to beat you down, sometimes it feels hopeless, especially ds2 lmao. Your first one is always the hardest. They usually guide you on a certain route but the worlds are interconnected and such.

Ds1+2 and Demon's Souls are slower and more stamina based. If you only care about bosses and don't want an experience that's too harsh or beats you down, Dark Souls III. Best bosses, shorter areas, easier boss run backs and most of the bosses don't even have a runback.
I honestly can't describe ds1, but trust me, it's a very unique experience.

Ds1 literally will make you feel homesick, hopeless and stranded at times. It has the best, most deliberately designed and planned out map. Everything is connected, makes sense and such in ways I won't spoil. But the look on your face when you found out that there's an entirely hidden area with tons of items and the coolest aesthetic ever, when you find a random niche weapon or invent a new meta accidentally. Honestly it's something else, at least it was for me

Dark souls 1 sounds the most interesting to me, but 3 is the most accessible, since I have a friend who owns that game, but doesn't care to play it. It's just a dilemma now as I don't know if I should try 3 out before fully buying a game, or if I should just go into 1 spoiler free and get to experience the story of all of the games if I end up liking them and choose to purchase more

If you play 3 before 1 you probably won't like 1 as much, it's harder to switch from 7 rolls with really quick animations to the slow deliberate stamina combat of ds1 that requires planning and multitasking, but Dark Souls III is the most accessible

None of them have you homesick like ds1, honestly 1 is the best for the first playthrough, absolute masterpiece in map design. Just stay away from those boggly eyed frog fucks if one of them kills you you'll probably quit the game

I liked it at first but now I believe dazed is better because you can take a slow break and be able to reach the demon before it recover from the state

However there is an argument to be made that longer (regular) glory kills push you out of the combat rythm

I pick Savagery (Faster Glory Kills) because I do a lot of Glory Kills even when they're not necessary, so normal GK speed ends up being a bit too long yeah

At most you could only GK 2 cacos before having to stagger them again, which is a huge risk since they still close in onto you to do their bite attack

and this delay doesn't get reduced if you use Savagery

So you could end up being in a pinch, Glory Kill an enemy, but the animation ends up being too fast that you end up not being able to pick up any of the health drops until you're out of there

the games more generous than you think sometimes, restacking armor isn’t an issue which keeps your health from depleting, but actually recovering health is really generous without glory kills as well, for example superheavies under any circumstance when they die, guarantee some form of health drops, that and ice bomb, and the fact that the game doesn’t really punish you for not using glory kills considering if you’re at low health, any form of killing an enemy grants you health

in easier levels like super gore nest ML I can just kind of go the whole run without my health ever depleting if I’m on a real hot streak so it never even becomes a concern in the first place

I’m not too knowledgeable on many of the base campaign skips, and even then most of them require knowledge of some tech, tips for becoming better are really hard to give because progress isn’t just a straight like that everybody takes in the same way, but something I’ve found works is set the goalpost higher than it needs to be, maybe boot up a level through mission select and set yourself a goal that’s way above your pay grade, like never having your armor go below 50 in a fight, and in an attempt of trying to fulfill your absurd new goal, your overshooting will have led to the practical completion of your REAL goal, idk if this works for everybody though

I just installed Doom Eternal, and it shows up as installed/playable in my Steam library.

But in the game, I can't play the campaign, only the DLCs. And I can't purchase the campaign since Steam says I have it and it's not one of the DLCs

A bit late, but dont try going for the secret fights that you dont need. Sometimes its very hard (like on the cultist base) and has no benefit to you. If you know you can beat it - sure, go for it.
Also, chaingun shield saved me many times, try using it.
Icon of Sin has 8 body parts, 4 hands and 4 torso. Torso parts have more HP, so its better to BFG them. On the second phase there is 3 bfg pick ups. If you take 2 shots from phase 1, you will have 4 shots for body parts and 1 shot to have a room for mistake.
SSG with flaming hook is the best mastery imo. As soon as i get the shotgun, a put 9 points into upgrades and get the flaming hook ASAP.

But mostly, its all about training and knowing the map/spawns

I completely agree with everything you just said. Davoth was hyped up so hard in the dlc and when you actually fight him it's so disappointing, and doesn't feel fun at all for me. You'll get there eventually. Do a Nightmare playthrough (And try to play it like UN). Practise Sentinel Prime and maybe Final Sin/Urdak. If you can do Final Sin, SP and Cultist Base deathless then you are capable of doing UN

I love your persistence, but it is okay to take a break if you need one. Oftentimes for me when I'm in the middle of trying to accomplish something very challenging I won't be able to do it, but after a while I'll take a break from it, and come back refreshed. It actually helps a lot for me, I've accomplished quite a bit with help from breaks (I obviously don't always take one though, and I'm also not you, so I can't tell you what would help, I'm just trying to give some friendly advice to help you out on your UN journey!)

Try getting them legit, they aren't too difficult, you can do any of them in public matches without a teammate. Battlemode is actually quite fun once you get to learn it btw, at least imo, so I think you should persevere in your grind and try to get the trophies normally

Battlemode definitely has a learning curve, and it might be hard to enjoy at first. I found it really helpful to play the tutorials and learn a bit about how the mode works, and how to play each demon before I was committed to trying to do anything. I then just started playing and getting better, and started learning the maps as I played, getting better over time. Pretty soon I developed a strategy and was having a ton of fun. All of that started just from me giving the mode a try and using the tutorials to help myself out

There's a mod which changes the praetor suit to a darker color, and makes the visor opaque. This way it's very similar to the one in 2016. PC version only of course. I have it installed, it affects the scarlet praetor suit too, and therefore, that's my favorite skin (obviously).
