you can stunlock anything for a good while if you remote det while toasting a grenade and unload on them

combine that with other falters like weak point breaks, chain gun shield dash, etc you can lock down the annoying ones

I think 90% of RD’s viability is just because of combustion concussion

Like it’s a borderline free falter. Think of the other ways to get falters in eternal - Damage? Inconsistent, varies, requires memorizing thresholds easily interrupted, etc. Grenade? Costs the time to recharge it and it’s slow to come out, can be dodged by mobile demons like barron, dread knight, etc. Weakpoint? obv requires enemy to have one. Blood punch uses your resources etc.

Compared to all the common ways to get falters in this game RD is basically free. One rocket, less than a second.

Use the unmaykr over the BFG. there are so many tyrants and archvilles and it’s so ammo efficient when you use it with ice bomb, combining it with the crucible + all the recharges means you can quickly take out every problem archie + tyrant without a hassle. Since they are the main pressure demons in many of the hardest arenas in SGN, with them out of the picture it should be easy.

my personal favorite set up is air control, savagery, and blood fueled, I used to use dazed and confused as opposed to savagery but I stopped glory killing for a speed advantage so I turn on savagery just incase i accidentally glory kill so I don’t have a time loss

yea support runes don’t really do much for me that’s useful, I don’t equip any specific one because it saves me a second or two during the menuing process in speedruns, default support rune is desperate punch, I don’t go below 75 health in these speedruns so I’m effectively playing it like normal

take back doesn’t do much since I don’t collect the extra lives, nor die, desperate punch is useless but at least I don’t have to go out of my way to equip it, and break blast is just really situational, going out of your way to break a weakpoint just to stun the enemies around the enemy you’re trying to kill isn’t very practical

Break Blast is the most often useful out of the three, and is also what I always pick for Support Runes, but it kinda steers you to bad gameplay habits where you try to aim for the demons' weak points and miss when instead you could just aim at their stomach which has a higher chance of hitting.

Then perhaps it's just a me issue lol, I still couldn't break free of this bad habit even now

Id start with 50H 50V is a very good balance and go from there. It really depends to be fair. I have played at 40H 30V on switch and 100H 100V on PC. I do suggest you disable the smoothness (usually set to 90, set it to 0)

and when I told him that the second phase of the icon alone would take 140 combat shotgun shots ( if he didn’t use crucible, and implying they all do max point blank damage ) guy moves the bar and says he might change it to allow weapon mods on the combat shotgun, like man why are you even going to think about doing the challenge if you don’t know what it entails

also every marauder you encounter would be a snoozefest because I’m not certain combat shotgun deals enough damage to stun ( don’t quote me on that ) but even then, the opening shot never deals full damage

even from a sheer offense standpoint the run would suck, but because it would be on UN, good luck restacking when you can barely kill the enemies in the first place

meaning if you switch to a weapon the same time you swing the crucible, you won’t consume any pips

crucible used to deal the full 10000 damage to the gladiator but it’s not even worth going for because they nerfed the usage of it on him so hard that you’d probably get more damage from a point blank ssg

for the doom hunter bosses ( and regular variants ) you can use slash cancelling to instantly knock them off their sled, for the gladiator, it deals damage wether his shield is up or not, for the khan maykr, a single crucible slash will deplete and entire phase worths of health, and in the second phase of the icon fight you can one shot his forearms with a crucible swing

@midnight bolt are your underused weapon buff mods and konvaz' Non-Meta Weapon Buffs all compatible with one another? A combination of 2 of those, at least?

a BFG shot instantly destroys an entire body part, the 1st and second phase arenas have something like 3 BFG charges each, the crucible charges around the arena are infinitely respawning, as well as the chainsaw pips, in phase 1 he quite literally only has one attack which is punching, and in the second phase, he punches, slams his fists down, and has a sort of magic attack using his head, it’s risky but in both phases you can use crucible to instantly destroy his forearms ( easier in second phase because he slams his arms on the ground ), and just deal a lot of damage, as much as possible, I wouldn’t advise rapid fire weapons like chaingun or anything of the sort, using weapons that deal their damage all at once ( burst weapons ) is more desirable, and as for the enemies in the arena, when you go to shoot the icon of sin with the BFG, as long as it gets some distance, the tendrils should kill everything around him, this is less risky in the first phase where he’s only on one side of the arena

also if you are going to use the chaingun anyways, don’t use mobile turret, the icon of sin has a resistance towards it so it ends up doing 36% less damage per normal chaingun bullet ( on the icon ) despite the faster fire rate, and the damage scaling is compared to a chaingun used on a normal enemy it deals 25% less damage then it normally does, which means mobile turret deals 60% less damage then it normally does

arb and super shotgun do the same amount of damage on the icon, you might be safer using the ssg because you don’t have to charge it first

also weapons the icon isn’t resistant towards are combat shotgun ( and both of its mods ) heavy cannon ( and both of its mods ), plasma rifle ( and both of its mods ), rocket launcher in specific only has a 25% resistance on the icon, ballista base fire only has a 14% resistance on the icon, super shotgun has a 50% resistance but still does more damage than either of those ( given it does full damage )

the ballista is hitscan so there’s no chance of missing or pellets spreading out too far because distance on the icon, does 740 damage on the icon while super shotgun deals 800 on the icon, that’s a 7.5% difference, and if you cycle between the two it is a good combo as a beginner

For classic mode on master levels I've got a question which I've only done regular UV on arc complex and that it for ml. So for the mods and weapons I'm assuming you have what you have and the pick ups that are by the arenas or encounter spots aren't relative to the demons by those combat spots?

punchswapping ssg is more raw DPS, even without bloodpunch, but magnetism pulling you into an enemy is problematic and that’s why it’s a bit less popular, also super shotgun has the same bring up speed as heavy cannon, so BATS doesn’t do anything

It's also worth mentioning that the magnetism (or melee lunge, rather) doesn't just cause displacement and disorientation, but also leaves you vulnerable to taking massive damage

The melee lunge is also why I don't do PB Punch Swap too often and usually just use PB Ballista

also if you’re punchswapping an enemy with supershotgun, it’s desirable to be aiming your cursor at a downward angle while doing it so if you accidentally punchboost off of the enemy you won’t launch yourself because you’ll just hit the ground instead

I think this might be an issue specifically for frozen enemies, but I might just not ssg punchswap unfrozen enemies enough to know that

BTW have you ever encountered the bug where if you Ice Bomb an Archvile somewhere around its teleporting animation, every Archvile in the level would be immune to hitscan damage?

well BATS as in transferring speed to other weapons only has a really niche use case, but the mod cancelling aspect means you can exit things quicker, and also has certain properties on certain weapons, for example if you BATS out of a SLOB in the second volley, or any dual lock on burst for that matter, the second volley will shoot the last 2 as normal rockets, they stop locking on and enemies with resistances towards lock on ( barons and tyrants ) take full damage

besides being able to cancel out of any weapon adds a huge layer to the combat
