i enjoy the little minigame they present, it's cute, but the whole is less than the sum of its parts

the shield does literally nothing to change how you fight them in any context, as soon as you realize "oh i should just shoot the sled" you're going to do that for the rest of the time you spend playing this game

the shield detachment animation also seems pointless as anything other than a visual cue to hint that their behavior is going to change

you could double the sled's health, move the second phase behavior to the first phase, have the enemy change to it at 50% health, and give the behavior change some other really obvious cue, and you'd effectively have the same thing but more tightly designed

except that's not really true, non-boss hunters as they are in-game are effectively dead as soon as they reach 50% health because you get to kill them for free during the detach anim

it takes 32 shells from full auto to kill a tyrant, takes 14 shells from ssg to kill a tyrant, that’s less than twice as ammo efficient, and something that deals so little damage and requires close range action is just high risk low reward, instead of high risk high reward, full auto is a horrible mod

This isn’t me being an elitist and telling people how to play, people can play as “stylish” as they want. But mayo actually trying to brainwash his 100k subscribers into thinking it’s an efficient means of taking out enemies whatsoever is insane

You can’t even make the salvo extender argument because if you’re in a situation where you need one specific ammo type you’ve already failed at ammo management

My personal runes are air control, savagery, and blood fueled, savagery is really interchangeable with dazed and confused though, i would use equipment fiend but it has a hard limit it reaches that just makes it more of a novelty rune

I’d recommend dazed and confused in place of savagery for a low tier player definitely because even if you don’t glory kill, you don’t have to lock down on one target and prioritize it just because it’s in stagger

Sav gets you in and out of places faster. Which means fewer i frames (but you’re outta there), whereas 2016 enemies would stop firing when you went into GK. But existing shots would finish. Savagery also means less time spent for chaingun shield to regen so you can have it right out of your GK (though chainsaw is always 3 of the 4 sec)

How does savagery affect shield?

Your chaingun shield recharges even during glory kills and chainsaw. Faster GK = less time to recharge. You can come out of a gk first frame into the shield. Just buys you more time

I just finished the main campaign for the first time (HMP difficulty). Some takeaways: it was brutal but satisfying to get a hang of the combat, getting the Super Shotgun to me was the point where the fun factor really kicked in, Marauders aren’t as bad as people say, Archviles ARE as bad as people say, I took an embarrassing amount of time to realize what to do in the Khan Maykr fight, Icon of Sin was a 20 minute long panic attack that shredded all my extra lives but I persevered and just barely won. Gonna take some time to catch my breath now 😆

A popular cheat code in gaming is noclip. Meaning no clipping. Clipping referring to the collision you have with the game’s walls or objects - no clipping meaning no collision so you can travel right through as if they aren’t there. This means you can travel through walls, to other places not intended, out of the intended gameplay area that in “inbounds”, or in other words, you go “out of bounds”

hence, noclip and out of bounds technically aren’t the same thing, but they’re very tied together by players and can work hand in hand

Plasma rifle is useful for like, one and half levels maybe before it becomes useless, takes like 100 ammo to fully charge only to deal 700 damage, even if you somehow get lucky enough for a 4x damage Yeet blast that’s still 2800 damage, only 400 more damage than a dblade which is like half the ammo

Not to mention the instant you get fast hands that’s instantly capped to 2x and you can only deal 1400 damage at once making it the most useless thing ever especially considering you get the super shotgun which deals 1600

whenever you have air control equipped, a long ass swoosh sound plays every time you double jump and it gets painfully distracting once you realize it's there

dashing absolutely doesn't need the initial d lookin ass speedlines

the lack of distinct sound cues for both grenade types is also strange

makes it worse that you kinda pedaled it off as like… advice almost, because that sounds super inefficient. It would take 6 ballista shots in total to kill him outright with his healthpool and even then I don’t even know if the reload speed is fast enough to kill him with only ballista in a reasonable amount of cycles, so let’s say you dead swap the ballista or somehow it’s reload is fast enough, that’s still 3 cycles worth at best, and I’m not that familiar with the marauders green light functionality but I’m half confident that the shot that stuns him never deals full damage so it might even take more than 3 cycles
