For most players, the strategizing part is something that's usually done subconsciously and not "on purpose"

which is why it can feel "brainless" sometimes, even though it's really not

Unless you know the specifics about enemy lineup, spawn locations and whatnot (which most casual players usually don't know about), you wouldn't be able to carefully strategize your next plan of attack and instead would have a more adaptive style of gameplay, where you respond to the situations provided between the chaos of enemy attacks with pretty much pure instinct

I don’t agree that air control shouldn’t be a thing, but definitely shouldn’t exist to the extent it does, it’s super overpowered, especially when you fling yourself into the sky you can basically pinpoint with precision where you want to land without even trying, energy shield however I feel is fairly balanced, sure it’s complete invulnerability but it has a health pool of its own that’s capable of being depleted along with a time limit

Cuz not gonna lie, energy shield has really grown on my play style, especially during challenge runs where I turn on damage amplifiers or play something absolutely ludicrous

If anything, a compromise I'd like to see for air control would be quake 1 style strafe jumping.

So slight air control while jumping if you have the skill.

But again, all under one movement system.

The reason I like no AC is because you need to do things like ballista boost for directional air movement, and single dashing while quick switching.

Haha, true. Been a minute. I haven't been doing many challenge runs recently. I've been focusing a lot of multiplayer really with tenemode and slayer vs slayer. Been trying to grow the modded battlemode community, cuz the mods are phenomenal and have tons of potential.

Well an accomplishment I’m personally proud of is I was inspired by sylars video on beating the 5 marauders in one minute and I managed to do it in under one minute, although that was 2 years ago, he could totally blow me out of the water with his current skill

So do you have any advice for the “gimmicky” parts of unreclaimed earth? I Can get past the normal arenas with not too much trouble but I don’t like the “here’s a meathook with no cooldown and you can’t touch the ground” thing

Yeahhhh, those encounters can be rough to learn. If you want, later on I can help you out in VC with routing + adaptation strategies, and show you what to do.

That encounter specifically is weird cuz using the meathook like that is not conventional at all.

What I do is I just sticky both cacos (mind you dazed and confused helps tremendously with this), then just pb rocket/ballista the tyrant. The cacos will respawn immediately when you kill them though, so make sure that they're in GK state.

And ofc keep yourself off the ground with the meathook while dealing damage to the tyrant.

It's annoying at first, but it's become one of my favorite encounters in the level.

Sounds like a fun challenge especially considering how I’ve played a majority of the level mods out there

My favorite modder out of them all is elizabethany, the levels are fairly balanced and can even be cleared on the first try if you’re trying hard enough

Something I’ve found that helps is starting chronostrike before the dash and switching the the shield midway through

And the timings a bit trickier with non chrono strike dash but if anything it’s easier because you can do it on the ground

I always save all 6 Empyrean Keys before getting the Unmaykr, but one time it only unlocked 5 out of the 6 seals

because apparently on one of the the Slayer Gates, I completed it but didn't grab the Empyrean Key

tbh the fact that you gotta pick it up instead of automatically given upon Slayer Gate completion seems to be a design oversight

Their reach is insane and they have the health of a baron

It’s basically impossible to not get hit unless you pull out energy shield or somehow manage to gain a shit ton of distance, also if there’s two of them even energy shield won’t help you avoid getting hit, you just get slapped around

Make sure to take everything from a finished arena

Save the chainsaw for heavies, or to get iframes to save yourself

practice in Nightmare each level so you memorize demon spawns and prepare a strat for each encounter, get you restack, quickswapping and movement game on point so its easier

I’ve finished the entire game on Nightmare, and I gotta say that I hate Marauders

||At first they were tough, then not, but then the developers came out with the idea to buff them with Spirits or Screecher Zombies||

The devs don't buff them with screechers, you do by shooting the screechers lol

It was also difficult for me on the first time yeah, but on my replay it was much more easier to deal with

Mainly just use weapons that are single target-focused like PB and Ballista, and try to control your instinct to not shoot at everything that moves on your screen

Also don't stick around at one edge of the arena for too long, you have the meathook to traverse around

On my second playthrough I didn't trigger any of the screechers there

And remember that Screecher buffs aren't permanent, so if you accidentally trigger one, just juggle around the Marauders while waiting for the buff to wear off

I’m having crashes every 2ish hours on doom eternal with raytracing enabled on xbox series x, has anyone else had this issue?

It doesn’t even let me resume from a checkpoint after the crashes for some reason

Disabling raytracing gets rid of the crashes, but I’d like to be able to use it

On both my hmp and nightmare playthroughs I died a bunch fighting the first one, but then first tried the second two

Well on the first one it has more hp and there’s no way to skip the heavy demon spawns, but on the second two their health is practically halved and you can skip the heavy spawns by killing them both back to back in quick succession

And even if you somehow fail the heavy demon skip on the second phase you still have at worst the equivalent of a non boss doom hunter to fight

Assuming you’re new to the game, precision bolt ssg deals the most damage out of any two weapon combo but is only really viable for close range, precision bolt rocket deals a modest amount of damage and is good for mid range, and precision bolt ballista deals only 40 less damage per cycle than pb rocket, fires a bit slower due to lack of FSE ( unless you somehow frame ballista ) and is good for long range
