The doom hunter isn’t even the bad part, it’s when the buff totem activates, and even then you can cheese it by staying ontop of the dome because it messes with the demons Ai, so I’d recommend you don’t do it unless you’re not looking for a challenge

To elaborate more:

When you enter the Double Archie room, immediately go below with a Dblade charged (you can just bunny hop there), hit the 2 Dread Knights and throw a frag at the furthest (then maybe PB the closest? I dunno just make sure they both die)

The Tyrants then spawn at both sides. You can do SSG Punch Swaps to kill at least one of them fast. Normally I'd say do SLOBS for the other but SLOBS is a biiiit harder on console (though still possible). Regardless if you can at least kill the 2nd Tyrant fast enough, you can then ice bomb the Archie that's currently summoning if you were fast enough.

I never even got the chance to use the crucible in my first playthrough, only in Taras after I acquired it, and after I beat the room I acquired some crucible pick ups and left through the portal and left and I had zero charges on the next level, might’ve been some weird glitch cuz I was on 1.0 I didn’t even have day one updates or nothin

I definitely had more in depth comments about that room, but basically you can pretty "easily" murder the Cyber Mancs by using frag -> blood punch -> ssg (which lets you glory kill them to refill blood punch), then using Ice Bomb on the Doom Hunter(s) to Blood Punch SSG the sled, then Lock On Burst the Doom hunters out of sled. You can stand on the dome surrounding the coin for an ok line of sight, though I usually prefer just staying closer to the entrance (provides some semblance of cover from at least one of the heavies)

and then from there it's just Dblade spam Dblade spam Dblade spam 🤣

The other nice thing about using frag is it staggers them so they won't do their ground slam. Blood Punch does the same. Then SSG of course "kills" them so they'll never get a chance to ground slam.

It depends on situation/ammo/...a lot of stuff 🤷 but what you'll usually find people use is Lock On Burst for most heavies (Hell Knights, Dread Knights, Arachnotrons, Whiplashes), maybe Dblade depending on how the enemy spawns lineup.

It IS very common that Doom Hunters and Cyber Mancs are just taken out with Frag Blood Punch SSG. But that's just cause they're not very numerous in most levels that you can space/save your grenades for them

Oh, I guess one thing to mention in case this helps Regret, a single charge Dblade shot will kill Carcasses, and cleaves through their shield. So for only 16 ammo you can kill a Carcass + anything behind it.

The way I see it, both are "unintended" (the dreaded I word). There's probably some sort of legal shenanigans/bullshit with actual mods but considering how far mods have progressed with no cease/desist (and even general support from id), I think they're fine.

So in terms of how they equate to EACH OTHER... In the end it doesn't matter what I think as long as the person doing it feels happy/fulfilled/whatever.

At the same time I also think theyre missing out on the joy of learning/improving/overcoming a hard challenge. But by all technicalities they "did the thing" so ehz whatever.

Same opinion for Battlemode/boosting. Battlemode has a lot of cool depth to the mode, especially when you get to go up against and learn from the top demon duos (I'll admit I only ever played Slayer, I was shit as demon at the top end). Something I found that’s interesting is the heavy cannons base fire can be used before punch swapping but plasma rifles cannot and it’s weird because functionally it should be the same

there's nothing in or about deternal that gets even close to being fast enough for a 32ms (~1 frame at 30fps, compared against 1 frame at being 1ms at 1000fps, i.e. deternal's fps cap and the best case scenario) increase in reaction time to matter

in comparison to the reaction speed required for basic hitconfirms/whiff punishes in any fighting game where everything is measured in individual frames, deternal might as well be a strategy game

the actual reason you want high fps in deternal is that it feels like shit to play at low fps, and lots of cool tech is either worse or straight up gimped at low fps

Practice the first couple of levels a lot. You want to make sure you have a plan for them. Those are the toughest ones. Once you go pass gladiator, you should be ok. Also, if you are just trying to beat it for the first time, ignore the slayer gates and all unnecessary combats. Never risk and know when to focus on restacking more than risking dying. Make your shield mod your best friend.
