Canonically, Hell bolstered its might significantly after their deal with the Maykrs.
In the classic games, the demons are fueled by the Essence; their victims' souls.
But as the Argenta lore notes, when the demons made a deal with the Maykrs, they powered up, because they began infusing the Essence with Wraith Energy to make Argent Energy, which makes them much more powerful.

So this serves as an in-universe explanation as to why the demons are so much more powerful in modern games; Argent Energy has made them stronger and more powerful. OG demons were significantly less powerful, to the point that the Sentinels nearly conquered Hell itself before the Maykrs and Priests betrayed them.

Hoping that the next game will bring things together slightly more. I want to see more exploring the entirety of hell and we can then see all the previous types of demons and some new. A boss fight with the four armed crucifix demon from eternal would be cool. They also should take lighting from 2016 and textures from eternal and use both the best bits as eternal has better more fleshy textures as 2016 the lighting feels as if its Ray tracing

On top of that, the region you're in - the Titan's Realm and Necropolis - is clarified by the Codex to be a sort of "trophy hall" for Hell, where they put trophies from conquered worlds.

About the Demonic Crucible's design - it appears to be a part of Hell corruption. Akin to Hellgrowth. As in, they stole a normal Crucible from the Sentinels and it turned into what we see now.

The Hell Knight lore in 2016 says that these ones, the eyeless fucks, they were soldiers of a rebel demon called the Great Serpent. It was rebelling against the Dark Lord. The Guardian, that crocodile demon thing you fight in Doom 3, struck it down; its soldiers were cast into Hell's gladiator-pits, until they eventually rose through the ranks of Hell to serve in its armies as Hell Knights.

They were replacing the original Hell Knights from the classic games, which are all gone.

The Slayer would realize that the majority of Undertale monsters are not threats to humans at all

He would then just kill the monsters who still wanted to kill humans (like Asgore) and destroy their soul technology

Using the chainsaw for iframes can be smart as long as you're not wasting it. If you have a shit ton of ammo it'd be smarter to glory kill instead.
