Stoplight enemies aren't all bad, the main target of your anger is marauders; he's glitchy, and that's what most people actually hate. Designing stoplight enemies to have shieldbreakers and designated non-conventional ways of takedown would be pretty satisfactory for everyone.

I'd even say enemies like that become a bit necessary for higher level play, they stop you from autopiloting and change the situation more than the average enemy just dying from a simple dps combo.

DE isn't a conventional FPS, and what you said was more of a personal opinion which I can understand to a certain degree. But they do help in certain situations. Most of high level DE becomes mindless when you learn comboing, and even lower skill levels have the danger of becoming monotonous auto-piloting if all you're facing is standard enemies that die to just shooting.

I agree that rigid stoplight enemies, those that completely inhibit the flow of combat should be cut out, EG the Marauder. He's essentially just a regulation gate sprinkeled here and there to prevent you from going too fast, unless you waste half your rocket ammo to do a skystrike combo, which aren't even possible in claustrophobic environments. Or worse, he can be ignored which completely fails him as an aggressive demon type. You can't be aggressive and have a rng based AI as well, that's a recipe for disaster.

Something like Blood Makyrs however, is perfect. They blend into the environment, provide steady area denial but never inhibit you. You can move and shoot all the same, you just need to be cautious of them. They also keep on your toes and prevent one going auto-pilot because you have to be co-ordinated to respond with a quick flick. They reward you perfectly as well, ammo to continue the combat loop.

ok so i finally passed the double archville room after 3 hours of trying with only 1bfg ammo. Seriously this was the stupidest shit ever. Only way to beat it was to follow a really specific strategy but also dealing with the stupid randomness of the demon spawns. Not fan of this at all, i'm betting with crucible and full bfg it would have really easy to do but yeah not a fan when doom force me to one way of playing instead of relying on improvisation.

With 2 well-placed bfg shots you can take out both archviles and then deal with the tyrants and leftover demons.

Taking out the dread knights that spawn below will help with moving the wave along and you have a limited amount of time before the tyrants become buffed l
