there are extra lives scattered across the world, every time you die, you lose one extra life, when you lose all your extra lives, it's game over, you have to start from the start of the game

so if you're doing it for the achievements and not for fun, I'd suggest doing it on an easy difficulty

For reference, there's I believe 12000 "levels" if you're going by the Doom Level. The max is 250, but then you can "prestige" which sets you back to level 1 but you gain a star next to your name. You can get 8 stone stars, which after that you can get 1 bronze star, going to 8. Then silver, gold, plat/diamond, and finally a red star -> 8 red stars.

That said, Doom Level doesn't really indicate anything other than time played. As far as event xp and earning rewards for the Series Event stuff, doing the weekly challenges is usually enough to get the rewards, just come back when the weekly challenges reset. They're usually pretty easy, stuff like "complete 1 level on Nightmare", "Kill 15 Carcasses with Micro Missiles" or whatever other bullshit. It's usually easy to get all of the event skins in a timely manner just by doing the challenges and nothing else.

if you're really starved for Event XP, you could start new files and complete Nightmare/UN levels as fast as possible, etc. Just look up different videos on how to complete levels quickly. Even just replaying Hell on Earth itself could be quickish

Yeah the game’s mechanics are based on fps, so at a higher frame rate you might see demons lunging from further and the meathook gets you further

You were always intended to switch, but never quick switch. Heavy cannon and other automatic weapon swaps were not intended, in fact there was an update that took it away but was quickly added back

Well for actual quick swaps most players on console just tap the weapon wheel button with a low delay in the settings, right? It's just that you need to "set up" your quick swaps by equipping the two weapons you want to swap between

Also, I'm pretty sure that unlike Barons or Tyrants, Archvile doesn't have a resistance to Lock-On

For me Super Heavies generally aren't that hard
Because I like bullying them

Is it me or I only use super shotgun at near death situations?

Like it’s a last resort but personally I main the normal shotgun

I hate archiviles. Especially when the enemies body block you against wall sometimes and then when you try to dash out/shotgun of there you can’t before you’re dead. It’s bad esp when chaingun runs out of ammo, no one to chainsaw…

Actually SSG is my main weapon and as a last resort I use Chaingun

Tyrants are easy cause they’re so slow

I like to just focus on other things and hit them every once in a while and they eventually die

I rarely get body blocked by a bunch of enemies or run out of chaingun ammo.
As for Archviles, I usually kill them before they even manage to summon someone.

I was testing if quickswapping is really necessary and even on nightmare, I was able to get through most of the main campaign without quickswapping, you just gotta be smart about your movement and stuff and prioritize the right demons

I probably use chaingun quite a lot tbh, as it ranks one of my favorites, and both mods are quite ammo consuming. It mostly happened in arenas I first time encountered them, as I was not familiar where he spawned. And then I realized too late before the wave spawned and had to deal with all of the stuff he spawned. What would you say is your favorite way of taking him down quick?

Ice Bomb+ 2x Lock-On

Ice Bomb is generally good for him, but Lock-On just annihilates him

(I recommend using Ice-Bomb so he will take more damage and won't teleport away or put his wall up)

Chaingun is great when it comes to the shield. OP Mod. However, it does not deal a ton of damage, so once you get into quick swapping, other options are way superior that just holding trigger on chaingun. It is a Cool Weapon though

Yeah I hate when he teleports, I can’t always keep track of him when I’m overwhelmed with bunch of other demons or stuff in general. I probably under utilize the rockets and ssg, I noticed I did not use ssg as much when I encountered Khan Maykr the first time, because I found her harder than any other lvl/ boss in the game, even Icon of sin. But idk if AA could have helped me there, because I turned it off and messed with my settings just before I beat her the first time on the campaign. Generally my timing was horrible in the boss, and also it felt like there was no options of getting ammo as there were only maykr drones that you can precision shot.

But that might be because the bosses in this game are really easy, compared to arena fights at least

Maykr drones give you tons of ammo though

And precision shot isn’t the only option for that, you can ballista headshot and that counts as the same

Once I got the ballista, that’s been the only thing I use to disable weak spots since it does big damage too and easy to aim

I do tend to use other guns too, just depends a lot. I do like full auto quite a lot though, as example micro missiles. Wish I had more buttons to bind, I did have chaingun bound to the extra slot for a while, but after Khan I did start to use ssg more.

Ballista is high dps but the aiming feels at times inconsistent on console compared to other weapons. But that could be just me.

That's good. Using all weapons is definitely fun. Unfortunately of them are just much inferior than others, FA for example. Once ypu get into nightmare and UN, inflicting high damage quick becomes very important. It doesn't mean that you cannot use what you like and makes you have fun

I’ve replayed missions in nightmare though, and I kinda switched difficulties the whole campaign when I first time ran it. Ik it’s important. I do intend beating the game in UN at some point.

Right now Im running the game at ultra violence with no deaths

I died at cultist base like three times before I made it passed with no deaths

Tbh I enjoy the challenge, but I’m more worried about the jumping puzzles. I wonder how does one remember what’s ahead when it’s time to do that. I wasted first time so many extra lives dying in them 😂

I'm replaying the campaign on Nightmare to check how often do I lose Extra Lives (I wasn't counting deaths on Secret Encounters and Slayer Gates)
I did DHB, SGN, ARC Complex, Mars Core and Sentinel Prime without deaths
Died once in Taras Nabad (Because of a glory kill bug), Hell On Earth and Arc Complex
And I died way too much in Cultist Base and Exultia
Currently I'm on Nekravol Part 1

(Forgot that I died once to Cyber-Mancubus in Arc Complex )

Next playthrough I got to super gore nest and died from whiplashes in that first encounter

I died many times while doing TAG2 and Mars Core ML on UN (But back then I was only quick-swapping with SSG and Ballista)
Did TAG1 and Taras Nabad ML on First Try (My secret? Practise on Nightmare)
And I did SGN ML on my second try
