Does anyone know how to load WADs on the STEAM version of the DOOM Unity port? Everyone online says to put them in "C:\Usersyour username\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM Classic\WADs" but there's no "DOOM Classsic" folder on my PC. Probably because I'm not using the Bethesda launcher version? I've tried making the folders, but that didn't work.

you can use custom wads on unity port, they just have to be doom format

How though? I've put the files into all the folders I can think of, but it doesn't work for me. It seems like the Steam version is different from the Bethesda version..? I can't even find where the game downloads the custom WADs to, if I could find that folder, I'd bet it would load custom WADs. I've ever tried WADs that are specifically for "vanilla" DOOM, but no go.

So, tell me, does anyone know any mods that make it so armor pickups stack properly? Like, pick up Armor Bonuses, then a green armor, and it gives you a hundred on top of whatever armor you have?
Also something that does the same with health, like you pick up medkits when you've picked up hp bonuses to get to 95, and you go to 105, or something, would be nice.
I keep having to leave the minor bonuses for later, and I can't help but get a bit "OCD" over this

A self refrencing sector might be appropriate
how is that done?
You create a sector, preferably a rectangle to act as an invisible wall
Increase its floor hieght
Then you choose all its linedefs
And make both front side and back side refrence the sector

What I usually do is use the sector edit tool and rotate it

Worth mentioning that in most cases you don't need crystal sectors for that effect (I just raise the floor to ceiling-1)
The effect is also notorious for behaving inconsistently depending on your nodebuilder, so it's usually advised that you keep them contained in another sector

Tonight i decided to throw in a little mod called ultimate custom doom onto my project msx fix'd brutal doom enemy combo

Before i added this mod in the brutal doom enemies felt too tanky it took nearly a full clip of shells to kill just 1-3 imp with the auto shot gun but after i doubled the damage it felt much better
1 or 2 shots
Although to balance things out I also increased the enemies damage by 1.5
Add on that with me fiddling around with the shield recharge rate to make it recharge way faster and it makes for quite a good feeling

No problem here's the new key binds and what they are
Secondary fire is the quick melee attack
Weapon zoom is the alternative fire /alt fire mode switch key
Weapon state 1 is the grenade
Weapon state 2 is the health kit button
Weapon state 3 is the shield booster button
Run is still sprint/dash
So i found a feature(i guess), on the hdoom mod. It's when you play hdoom and brutal doom, and it will show a black and white, Revenant head, earaping you, then will spawn like a dozen of Revenants, i got suprised the first time i tried it(littrrally 5 minutes ago)

It is but with alot of the fat trimmed out the enemies have vanilla ai you'll never see a zombie on its knees for long
But i figured since i had this video i thought why not show the upper end of how good killing these enemies is
There's a difficulty called extra violence which multiples the zombies and imps by 2 for every 1 placed And its wonderfully messy when they go splat

i got dr4 working. i thought doom 1 with modern graphics would be awesome. and well, while it does look good, doom 1 with modern graphics just doesnt work. i can see why ID never bothered to remake doom 1 with modern graphics. the way the levels are structured doesnt really fit with modern graphics

- gzdoom - for mods. alters the gameplay
- crispy - absolute vanilla

Plainsf2.wad has an apparent problem in the beginning where you can't progress because the elevator won't work.
And that's sad because I was planning on playing it.
And I've found the only way to trigger it is from below, and if I'm being honest, that's actually impossible.

Even better: Dont use mouselook
just change the renderer to hardware accelerated so you don't get that warpy effect that you get in DN3D

Call of doom is a good pick it adds in the weapons and some mechanics of call of duty while having a brutal doom version using those enemies making the weapons incredibly satisfying
I mean it every weapon is loud and punchy and it's great
There's brutal trail blazer but that doesn't work on newer versions of gz doom at all
The main thing to pair with brutal doom though if you don't want to change the gameplay of it are hud mods and map packs
Unholy realms is fun but hard
Doom 2 reloaded is good
Ultimate doom visor comes to mind
However there's also brutal doom monsters only and brutal doom weapons only that allows you to pair either one of those aspects with other gameplay mods

Those mods wouldn't work with brutal doom as they all have their own gore effects that would Clash with each other ontop of that brutal doom would overwrite smooth dooms enemy changes

Honestly I wish that there was a mod that added the enemy reaction systems that brutal doom has or something similar and do the vanilla enemies make the enemies feel more like your shots actually do something visably affect more often instead of them just eating your bullets

Honestly considering how much more damage the enemies can deal quickly it's kinda warranted 🤔
It's mostly because I can't help but optimise as I play, so I end up grabbing the soulspheres only when I'm at 100, and only grabbing the health vials when I'll get the overheal.
Since getting them and then grabbing medkits is pointless. It messes me up whenever I play.

I do still like how the shotgun feels, and how they actually give you an assault rifle.
Although, having the assault rifle and an SMG on top of that feel a bit much. Like, you don't want too many weapons, they'll just get in the way when you're mouse-wheeling through them all.
That's why I think I've come to like weapon wheels it kinda makes just selecting the exact thing I want alot easier
Plus since i use a controler it frees up one of my buttons for something else

well, zdoom in udmf is deprecated by gzdoom in udmf
Boom works on PrBoom+/dsda-doom. UDMF does not.
I dont recommend making maps that only work in gzdoom because you will lose a lot of people that dont want to use gzdoom
there are a lot of zdoom related obsolete formats now (like doom in hexen which was the precursor to udmf)
make what maps you want

if you have ultimate doom builder or gzdoom builder it automatically makes .backup files
move the latest backup to a new folder and rename the file so it doesn't have the word backup1/2/3

first guess is they deleted a line by accident
second guess would be they're literally building the map manually by hand and screwed up the sector/linedef references, but that would be crazy
btw, would love some opinions/feedback on this WAD. it's a replacement for map25 of TNT built in the vanilla format; runs like a charm in crispydoom and gzdoom, but I haven't tried other ports. music is from the plutonia midi pack (map 31)
since it's a lategame map, I didn't think a pistol start would be reasonable so I went ahead and frontloaded some supplies so you can just plug and play

Alright, if you're having trouble getting doors to work, I recommend you either watch some basic tutorial videos on how to get going in doom builder, or open up the original doom/doom 2 levels and take a look at how those were built and mess around with them
and I agree w/ Crispy up there, get either Ultimate Doombuilder or DoomBuilder X. they're modern continuations of doombuilder 2

what you need to do is lower the ceiling of the inner room something like 8 or 16 pixels
that way it's not flush with where the sky texture gets drawn

what about directly on an already existing line
you can also select multiple vertices to drag them at the same time, and the way dragging works there also applies to the Lines and Things modes
like if i want the line to start there
double click near the point on the line where you're going to draw and it should start a new line there
for example, with my cursor over here on the red dot (so it's not highlighting the line or anything)
I just double click and it goes

now, if the line you want to draw off of isn't flush with the grid you have on, it's a little trickier
so you cant do it directly make a new vertex on a line you have to work around that a little
you can start with making a new vertex, which is actually what I was gonna say next lol

then increase the floor height so that it's higher than the room's floor
if the player shouldn't be able to step onto the platform without lowering it first, the platform's floor needs to be more than 24 units above the room's floor

one minor thing to note, when you're making a sky, you can do make the sector like this
when i made the floor the wall went up
in order to have a higher ceiling without having the walls get really high
and in this case you don't need to worry about the missing textures up there in the sky; it'll display fine in game

that one adjusts both the floor and the ceiling at the same time
in any case just lower the ceiling in builder
you can toggle the nice sky appearance btw next to the green play button, that way it's easier to see where the ceiling heights for skies are in 3d mode

i usially berserk the pain elemental and get the hell out of the starting area to get plasma and ssg and kill all the enemies
i honestly run over everything
after you nab the ssg and the plasma rifle you're a ok for everything else

Fastmonsters by itself tho presents an interesting challenge, and I like it coupled with other difficulty flags and stuff Zdoom is capable of implementing

I was able to beat it on pistol start and fully clear out all the enemies on UV, so I know it's winnable

It’s a skill definition for a MAPINFO block
You can insert it into a blank WAD with Slade, and load that file with whatever other WAD(s) you wanna play in order to have UV+ on the skill selection menu

Ye, it allows you to open up and edit all entries in a WAD, unlike Doombuilder which is specifically for mapmaking and scripting
MAPINFO is a text entry in a WAD, but in spite of its name, it actually handles a shitload of things besides map information lol

The thread didn't provide a WAD like you describe, just that code.
If you get Slade, you should be able to make a blank WAD
from there you make a new entry, name it MAPINFO, and paste that code into it as text, and you should be good

How can I do multiple levels in a wad
when you’re making a second map in doombuilder, use “Save Map Into” and choose the existing wad you wanna use
If you don’t mess with the MAPINFO lump, you have to name your map files ‘Map01, Map02, Map03’, etc. for them to work properly
or e1m1, e1m2, and so on if you’re modding for Ultimate Doom
