Those processed cellos really add to the thickness of the riffs. And ofc, the tagelharpas in When The Shadows First Lengthened are immaculate

Mick Gordon does a great job, I'm not disputing that. Eternal's OST is my favorite in the series. But 2016/Eternal aren't too focused on supplementing the story, and when they are it tends to be in the form of pretty cool references to classic music (i.e. Doom 1993's intermission music playing in the ruined Argent D'Nur levels). Mick's music is more focused on the hyper-violence shit, and that's fine.

But TDA is just a very different direction that I'm not sure Mick would've been able to really nail down - the more cinematic metal. Blood Red and how it uses deep, ringing bells to accentuate the nature of Aratum as a holy sanctuary is awesome, and I kinda think Mick Gordon would've just used, like, a chainsaw or something.

But it feels like the Cosmic Realm's music did a really great job of mending the more traditional metal with these wavering, unearthly synths and strange noises to bring out that feeling of "wrongness" to the music.

I will also admit that while Eternal is my favorite OST, half of my favorite songs are the DLC ones.

• TAG2 rebalance mod - slightly, slightly rebalances TAG2 to be slightly harder and in-line with TAG1.
• Master Level mod for Davoth boss fight - makes him much harder, has him spawn more demons, and has you fight a big horde of demons at the halfway point.

But I had a fantasy ideas, when I had first playthroughs of Doom 2016, how I would change stuff. And then in 2020 I learned that you can mod 2016 actually and some of the stuff is possible. yes, technically speaking doom 2 is simply just more, but honestly, doom 1 just has way better quality control on the levels (we don't talk about inferno levels)

While Doom 2 experiments with it's levels, for better or worse

E2 has some decent highs, but also quite a few lows. And the less I say about E3 the better

I've soured on E4 a bit in recent times. I need to replay it to make a proper assessment, but I don't hold it in very high regard

Doom 2's levels might be overall more flawed, but they are a lot more inventive. They also use more than 4 bleeding enemies in a level

also give you some reasonably strong guns with ammo for them

the only two wads I really like in Doom 1 are Sigil and Return to Hadron Episode 1

Doom 2 had a good first half but a meh second half
TNT should probably get bumped down but it has a way better first half then the two, never got to the second half though
