Well for starters, its mostly the frame-cancelling. Quick-swapping is good when the game fits it

Quick swapping is just really OP. The Super Shotgun is DOOMS staple, its the strongest shotgun and possibly strongest weapon, but has a long cool down time. The Ballista as well, high damage but slow cool down. Quick-swapping essentially takes away the only weakness of these weapons

You pretty much get an automatic Super Shotgun. Speaking of, this also discourages the use of the Assault Rifle, Plasma Gun, and Chaingun since they're not as strong but deal more damage. If you can use the Super Shotgun instead at the same rate, why not use it then?

Personally I think Doom 2016 is the best DOOM game, but if you want to start from the beginning, you should start off with the original Doom. If you don't care about the storyline or want something more modern, go with Doom 2016
