Don't listen to EpicSquid on the stealth thing. The modern games, the ones I just mentioned, give you the freedom to play how you want. Very few missions force stealth; the vast majority allow you to decide if you'd rather sneak around or just run in and wreck shit.

So I'm not a Wolfenstein buff like I am Doom, but I can give you a cursory run-down - there isn't an expansive continuity like in Doom. All of them up until the modern games are set in WW2, but they are self-contained stories that only mention past installments in passing, and often contradicting them.
Wolfenstein 3D is fun, but it's very antiquated and hasn't aged as well as Doom has. It's not super interesting to play, but it's fun to experience history.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is beloved, and released in the mid-2000s IIRC.
Ignore Wolfenstein 09, it sucks and is kind of abandonware anyway.
But where I love Wolfenstein is the modern games. Those reimagine the setting entirely, and instead of being in WW2 they are set in an alternate history 1960s where the Nazis won the war with ancient technology.

These games fucking rock. The gameplay is snappy and fun, and it scratches the "you're a normal guy but a fucking badass" itch that Doom has abandoned with the Slayer. The narrative is seriously well-done and very poignant, especially in The New Order.
The Nazis aren't just enemies to shoot in those games, they really explore what society would be like, and have much of the story from the perspectives of the minorities the Nazis wanted to exterminate.
When I got into the series I played Wolf 3D, then the modern games.

I'm not really into The Old Blood personally. I can agree on this because I do remember the beginning stealth with the mech enemies fucking sucking. But beyond this, it feels like it has a way smaller budget and I think the normal WW2 setting doesn't grab my attention as much.
