Also 2016 first level feels a little bit harder for me, which I like.

The soldiers charge shots actually one shot you in 2016 at the beginning, so it's fun prioritizing them.

Though, it's kinda hard to compare the difficulty.

2016's enemies on the first level are more accurate and punish you much harder with much higher damage, but Eternal's first level throws more at you at once.

But I'm not really the biggest fan of the first level in either game really

Unpopular opinion but doom 2016 is a bit overrated. The other 2 games in the modern trilogy are much better. I didn’t enjoy the slow gameplay of 2016 and crouching. Some of the guns are also very lackluster and my game still experiences some bugs.

Nightmare mode is miserable to play. Bullshit enemy damage numbers and other issues. Ultra Violence the game is enjoyable but like you mentioned with the games flaws.

Movement has never felt slower in Doom, so I just use seek & destroy and launching myself with gauss canon.

Plus we can recognize what he's feeling through text, music, sights, body emotion, and his words in eternal.
Doom Marine to me is a doomed hero. His only will, his only reason is righteous yet self destructive. His sacrifice in eternal is heroic yet he must destroy himself.

Meh, I mean hell already exists and Doomguy died and fought his way out of hell in the orginal games, plus you had the icon of sin and such. So I have no problem with them buffing him into a demigod so his feats actually make sense. But I do think we've gotten to the point where guns don't even make sense anymore although it does help a little that you can mow down groups of fodder with the SSG in TDA.

Doom 64 is every bit as crazy, especially on higher difficulties

I will say I thought Eternal was too spazzy with its speed though. All the glory kill speed boosts just made everything feel too jerky to me

Everyone loved DOOM 2016 and Eternal. They wanted to do something different with Dark Ages and it didn’t stick well. Feels similar to DOOM 3’s situation, only DOOM 3 was the original plan for the games. Dark Ages is meant to be something they never done before in a DOOM game and it doesn’t stick to everyone.
