in my head im thinking slow would be harder because thered be so many projectiles on the field to account for but you gotta react instantly for parries on max speed projectiles
virtually all projectiles are affected by the projectile speed slider
slow is pretty easy, since even though there are a lot of projectiles on the field you have all the time in the world to dodge them
and 4 out of 5 projectile speed is kinda pushing it, but max projectile speed is literally 200% projectile speed and is quite unfair
yeah i think 3 projectile speed is the perfect sweetspot. anything faster, and it just feels annoying . anything slower, and it just feels pretty easy
300% damage to Slayer + fastest projectiles = nuts in a vice grip

so separate weapons that use the same ammo type but act differently
there are 6 standard weapon classes, 5 of which have two weapons each and the sixth one which just has one weapon

I feel like in terms of difficulty 2016 is honestly the most inconsistent game
Projectiles were just downright unfair at times and plus the game was starting to get repetitive by the 3rd act of the game

interesting, i had a hard time with 2016 but encounters took less time as i went through and got better but for eternal and dark ages thered randomly be arenas id be stuck on for hours after breezing through most of the level

Yeah, one thing i will say is Eternal has much more button inputs per second to play at peak level. so it is more tiring. You can do a lot of cool stuff in dark ages with less button inputs, so i kind of appreciate that more
depends if you get burnt from boredom or the stress i love the spectacle and simplicity of dark ages but melting a tyrant with 20 well times button presses in quick succession tickles my brain, tda's simplicity is its greatest strength and weekness for me
i love the accessibility i can hop back in and play well after not touching it for months

Yeah. i also love the back and forth with parrying in TDA, when facing a tyrant. it's pretty fun, and feels more like a brawler game. in eternal, i'd just insta eliminate a tyrant with pb launcher lock on quick swap, pb+ssg, etc. And there's no back and forth lol. but they're both super satisfying

yeah, to be able to get nightmare level enemy aggressiveness, but hurt me plenty damage to player is such an underrated feature. especially for insane ripatorioum presets. you can really have fun with those. and 150x speed

Yeah, one thing i wish they had is be able to keep parry indicators turned on when hud is off. cuz i like the screen with hud off, but at the same time, the parry indicator really helps to see attacks coming from behind, and you can parry without even turning back
Doom eternal had more customization with which UI elements you could keep on vs off
truuuue i miss that from eternal, i want the dot crosshair but you lose the melee charge indicator in the middle of your screen

i did get the vibe i should fear the enemies from the cosmic tracks

Eternal's got tonal whiplash narratively i wont deny that, its easily the game's biggest issue, but atmospherically i dont think its a big issue
visually and musically (atmospherically) it sets an awesome tone, but the characters start speaking and acting it falls apart
only the betrayer and novik cutscene seemed to match the good atmosphere

i don't get exactly how these ripatorium presets work. "countdown to death by hordemode gaming", i was playing it, and it defaults to 1 round, but when i increase the rounds to 4, there's 4 unique encounters set in there. But not 5. anyone know how this works?

This game already gives you shittons of accessibility options, it's slower than Eternal and 2016, and the gameplay loop is simple enough that you wouldn't need to make a lot of changes to it in order to make it work, just block and shoot. Maybe make shield dashing instant to reduce motion sickness, like VFR's teleporting.
There's no reason TDA wouldn't work in VR and it would be a HUGE wasted opportunity if they didn't lean into it.

theres a good amount of checkpoints in this game so its not like theyre worth saving for things unless you know youre going into a tough gore nest encounter or something
theres also quite a lot of sigils throughout the levels so youll always be able to replenish

50% is fine, but 75% is better balanced. Default 100% feels like enemies are made from paper. I would probably go with 1.65, like I did in 2016, but there is no such option for it, unfortunately.
I mean, both 2016 and Eternal just mostly increase damage, which is even worse, since constanly forces player to quickly delete enemies and avoid damage, which could become tiresome. Sure, bullet sponges feel boring too, but it's question of how much damage they require.
Also as said above enemies in 2016/Eternal/DA feel like they made from paper vs weapon damage balance on 100%.
I think using both stat changes for difficulties is most optimal approach instead of putting everything into one basket.

I appreciate the “Token system” enemy AI uses to attack the player. Actually makes the enemies feel smarter on higher difficulties. Wish there was a way to modify that, but I’m sure it’s integral to the game’s systems. Not something a couple number changes can fix.
Plus the game would probably feel like shit if you tweaked it beyond what it’s set as lol.

Agree. As said "to avoid damage", which makes it tiresome vs many or enemies with fast attacks. Within DE/D:DA it works better, because there is damage mitingation on low health, which gives more dynamic/dangerous feeling and keeps it more on the edge. In 2016 it would just kill player from few hits with its 300% damage, lol.

Regarding balanced - depends from difficulty settings. +1000% damage won't be very balanced, lol and even 300% feels like a lot already. Something around 100-250% feels optimal in my opinion, but again it depends from averaged enemy count, enemy attack speed and enemy default damage. Good example of how it can go wrong are imps in 2016, where damage is fine and barely noticable on Easy/Normal/UV, but hits hard on 3.0 for Nightmare.
But yeah, it's most easy to do and test thing in terms of balance.

Which is a pros not a cons, because it grants different experience and better depth for a game. Forcing only damage is just lazy balance, in my opinion.
Also if players can adjust to incomming damage, players can adjust to enemy damage mitingation too.
I died to like the fast closing teeth tunnel in the belly of the beast and my game no longer works

I was fighting the Arachnotron right, and i killed it when it killed me, i choose not to use a extra life, but for some reason because he was the last demon, it caused the game to think i cleared it without dying and i was still alive with no HUD on my screen at all

pandemonium is also a bitch. getting stuck on nerathul over and over was the bane of my existence when i was still doing it
it makes for very good practice though. the repetition i got from doing that ended up being very helpful in the long run. so you should still stick with it if you want to

this is my go-to also for most of the game. But I swap to holy swarm just for 1-on-1 boss fights, like azhrak
runes actually don't make much difference in ahzrak's boss fight because of his lack of projectiles, but if I were to choose one, I'd go with either ground fissure for a little bit of extra armor or auto turret for a bit of extra damage
with holy swarm most of the daggers just miss his skinny hitbox anyways, and heaven splitter he just doesn't care and only takes the shock effect, which you can get with the cycler or gauntlets
i feel like holy swarms does the most single target damage, with auto targeting
auto turret, you kind of have to be facing the enemy
it does, if you've got multiple targets in range

I think I was the only person that had basically no reaction to the TDA trailer
I actually was very cautious about it. Didn't get hyped until the cosmic realm trailer and the in-depth dev stuff. That's usually how my hype cycle goes for new games.
Each drum hit sounds like your getting beat to death by a medevil flail.
What I didnt like was the forced raytracing
even tho I can run perfectly but that has cut a lot of players from playing the game
PC gaming always seemed like torture to me.
it's nice when it works but imo I can't handle all the extra steps they get annoying.
well basically with a PC you can almost do anything, so it introduces a lot of freedom
as opposed to consoles that force you to only play on them, which is great because they're designed to be plug and play
same for iphones as opposed to androids
It's pros and cons. I'm just better with a controller and like physical media. I've never been a huge graphic head.

I call it DOOM 4 cause I'm sick of calling it 2016. It's not a reboot or anything (In canon/lore it isnt') it's just a dumb naming scheme. In every sense of it's existence it is DOOM 4 except the official title.

all my complaints come from the story (moreso story presentation) and that the ost is kinda annoying sometimes. other than that, I'd say it's a tad overhated (just a tad tho)
