Hi folks. Joined to share appreciation for TDA. My 2025 goty. One thing I appreciate is that there isn’t really one obvious meta. Seen folks do ultra nightmare runs with impaler (gun I consider possibly op) and the cycler (something I thought sucked but was wrong). Same for melee. All of them are viable and good. Also parry activates my single neuron gamer brain. Also the art and level design and cosmic realm is dope af.

plus like, isn't it useless against super heavy demons bc u can't shield saw stun them?

and how much damage does the ricochet actually do to nearby demons that aren't fodder

it does seem to be a good option against Cacodemons/Acolytes bc when shield sawing them to avoid their bs u can still deal damage to things around

but using it on demons near them will do incredible damage while youre totally out of range

but you also just can realize when you dont need your shield for parries. its not like you need it there nonstop

and if you ever do need to bring it back in an emergency then you just bring it back and parry and then throw it back again

like you can just straight up kill two heavy demons at the same time with ricochet its wild

when its fully upgraded the damage is nutso

I mean in more of a way for us to be able to return to Urdak in the prequel era. It’s a huge part of this time period. If Id Software ever wanted to bring Urdak into this time period, then they’d have to acknowledge that they kinda wrote themselves into a corner since it’s explained in Eternal that no man has ever set foot there. The only way I can see it possible if there was another “piece” or Urdak somewhere else.

It was pretty cleverly done with the Kreed’s ship, but that was just a brief room. I hope to somehow see Urdak soon!

The Sentinels are definitely based on the old Catholic Church obviously, and I love the parallels with the “bishops” and the way their church and government is set up.

The sentinels obviously communicate with the Maykrs commonly. Since the game launched I pictured it being some hologram-type deal or something, but I like this a lot better. Kinda like a Aratum deal but for the Maykr church. That would be sick.

Maybe it’s even on a distant planet, or some Maykr structure in space that they brought from Urdak. Would be sick!

Slayer’s, easy. The circle of fifths pentagram thing, while cool, is sorta basic in its implementation. Like yeah, I get it, hearing what is ostensibly the Dark Halls motif in just about every song gets a bit weary. At least with the Slayer’s motif in TDA, it has purpose and meaning beyond sounding cool

Well it being the “Hell on Earth” theme of the game being consistently represented by a unique tune was awesome atmospherically. So it fit the story for that purpose.
TDA’s motif was impactful on the story because it was about a growing Slayer. So I feel like they both fit their respective games’ stories
