Is crashing common for the game? Finally getting around to playing it on PC and the Siege levels have been crashing a lot. Has frozen my PC totally twice now

I think pincushion serves kinda the same purpose as the explosion ability for the combat shotgun, so you dont actually have to use it for the combat shotgun and use the bonus armor drops instead xD

I usually just use pincushion on mancubi and thats it

it's good when there are other demons around them since you can get some value out of it but yeah impaler is just better in almost every situation imo

I might give ricochet another shot though since it looks like it's just the same as pincushion but you dont have to commit to it as much

That's an interesting set of questions

Anything with DOOM in its title is realistically a DOOM game. How much it lives up to that name is a whole other thing

In a DOOM game I can't imagine a bland weapon arsenal. You need to have a plasma rifle and a BFG equivalent. And also a varied set of enemies so that encounters can feel like puzzles at times

I'd leave in disgust if we get more of that shit they did in the ARC logs in Eternal, that was cheesy and unbelievably corny, and I'm not big on the glazing the modern games do.
As for what it could add that would still make it live up to the title of a DOOM game; I'm not sure, as I have no experience designing games. All I can tell you is I think most of id's games have gameplay that could easily fit into the DOOM series and the gameplay can be extremely varied, so you'd have to pull some magic shit for it to add something that wouldn't fit in

Alright, I'm home now. Hmm idk how to answer this question really. I don't know what a Doom game is to me, lol. it's a game that I've played since '93. I've watched it evolve over the decades of course, it has a lot of nostalgia that's hard to explain. Like, it's such a part of me and my life but like the rest of us, in various different ways. I don't know what its foundations are, I'm not as closed minded ig as far as many of the members in here with what is black or white in Doom. It seems more flexible imo, I think people think way too deep into it. I think that Romero created it as a fun game, and for the time it was made, it was revolutionary. It was the first 2.5d shooter, and it felt very realistic then. I like that there wasn't any "lore " and that other stuff; it's cool to read with the more modern Dooms, but people go way too far into expecting it all to connect, esp to the older games. I don't speak my opinion too much in here because it seems irrelevant sharing with people who are just going to argue on something that is my opinion and mine alone to have. I think the additions in the more modern games have been positive, mainly 2016 connecting to the originals. I love TDA and Eternal as well, and can't speak much on 3. I loved 64 and tie that into the classics, albeit not as played by me as a kid.

As far as something that would disgust me as far as changes to the future games, I really can't say nor do I think about it because I like to see how it goes in real time. I don't really compare each game to the others around it when it comes to Doom. They are each their own, connected loosely and more tight amongst themselves. They are also made by different people with different visions at different times with limited and then expanded technology. So yeah, long story short, I have no clue.

just shoot a projectile at me, or even a spray pelets or acid or fire or something at me and like the shot gun it gets weaker the father you are away from it

i love eternal, but i think i’ve actually played more dark ages than i did eternal before tag 1. Tag 1 made me get good and really learn all the mechanics and after that i got truly addicted

tda combat loop felt easier or at least faster to master than eternal did, but now i’ve noticed myself learning smaller tricks in the ripatorium with the more tuned up challenges

i’m maybe not ready to call one better than the other, but i think tda has the best base campaign
