How do you guys like to restack mid-fight? I always struggle when I get to that point where I cannot get any further health drops from fodder. Iāve been experimenting with the flail and the auto-turret, but the flail has abysmal damage for the small amount of armor it provides and the auto-turretās health drop is heavily outweighed by its lack of cc and meh damage.

unfortunately armor management in TDA is pretty non-existent, though the best you can feasibly do without sacrificing too much is the ground fissure rune
besides the obvious executions, the best way to regain health is the cannibalism upgrade on the rocket launcher, though the ravager is also decent in that regard

General rule of thumb is to just try to avoid taking damage in the first place, but if you need health super bad Iād look into shield breaking, killing fodders or using the ravenger(risky albeit rewarding)

Doom TDA on steam deck is actually fire
I've been doing my first playthrough of the game on my steam deck and so far have beaten level 20. It runs a lot better than you would think, it does run at 25 fps and it's a little blurry but it's still very playable and enjoyable and I've never really seen any lag spikes, the cutscenes are a little bug with things not loading in right away and then being a little choppy, but the game play is really good for it running natively on the go, I got a say it runs better then 2016 on switch || I've never played eternal on switch so idk ||

There was 1 big update that came out about 5-6 weeks after the game released. Updated a ton of encounters in the campaign, added some QOL changes, introduced v1.0 of the Ripatorium mode which lets you customize wave encounters.
Among other small changes
I remember there being an aggadon in siege part 1
But that was during the developer direct

The thing I wished for the TDA soundtrack, tought, is that there were more references to Doom 64
I know that and it's so great
But I just wish there was more of it, espetially on the ambient tracks
Tbh I don't know any other track from 64

Doom 64 itself has already some of the most disturbing and brainfucking ambient tracks in any Doom game, so it would have been cool if this new Doom had started to lean to a more dark and gritty sound, that makes you uncomfortable and a bit scared while playing a game that, if it didn't had all those boombastic elements, it would be considered a very disturbing game to play

Welp, If anyone would like to experience what Doom was originally intended to be, there is a mod called Doom Delta that incorporates all the scraped concepts in the game for better or worse

it just ended up not having any sequels so we didn't get Doom 4 and etc
As of now I have finally beaten the dark ages and every mainline doom game and it's a solid 8/10 definitely the weaker of the 3 "modern" doom games with imo 2016 being the best, but Id still cooked with this game and I loved how this game has a perfect balance of story telling to gameplay and had a perfect length not to long not too short, didn't over stay it's welcome, I do think the removal of glory kills did impact this game because in past games the glory kills made it so you could get a nice close up of the demons while in here they're just piles of meat before you know it. I do like how the game at the end || pulled a doom 64 and the slayer trapped himself in hell to continuously rip and tear ||, but overall a really good and fun game.

I feel the story in any of the 3 games is utter bollocks, so I just judge them by their gameplay elements and replayability 
But yeah 2016 handled the way it told story the best

Yes but just review the story for a sec. Nothing is light hearted, there's no moment to connect with a character besides Doomguy, 90% of the scenes are aura farming, lack luster dialogue and execution. It has the foundation but ultimately ideas aren't worth squat if you don't execute them well
Because if they didn't care about the story, they wouldn't put so much effort into it and market it
And this was marketed as a pillar of the game
Ofc no one expected a master piece
But this one in particular took itself way too serious at times
They evidently do not abide by the idea that a story doesn't matter for doom, and especially dark ages deserves criticism for it, for marketing it as something bigger than it is

I wish they'd do it like a mix of half life and the newer resident evil games, like the story and world are mostly seamless but you can skip any of the slow moments

The day I don't skip any cutscene in a doom game is the day they made an awesome story
Like the opening cutscene can stay the same but when the gameplay has exploding demon pinatas and mystery boxes the cutscenes shouldn't be serious

frankly I think the only two differences between 2016's story and TDA's story is scope and presentation
neither are particularly complicated (2016 you hop back in between mars and hell trying to catch olivia pierce, tda you hop around a few more locations trying to stop ahzrak from getting the heart of argent and then to track him down and kill him)
except in 2016, the story feels less all-encompassing since it's kinda just about a portal on mars, while tda has this grand scale applied to everything
and TDA puts more of the emphasis on the story, while 2016 kinda just lets it sit in the background and doesn't require you to really engage with it to understand

There is a shocking amt of people who somehow hav eno idea what happens in dark ages at all
Because I'm not interested in tech or honing my skills in a game so much as I am interested in how each element weaves together to really show you something special

Even though Eternal theoretically has an endpoint, the concept of earning your power fantasy and mastering a combat loop in order to make you understand why doomguy is so insanely powerful just speaks to me. Even if the story blows, it also wants to show that through its cutscenes

2016 on NM/UN is horrible
2016 will go down as an all time classic
It's not as good as its sequels, but I find it to be the best because it's the most important
Almost the same way something like RE4 did
I just cant force myself to go back to 2016 after playing both eternal and dark ages no matter how hard I try 
enemies all hit like trucks, you don't have any ability to regain resources because glory kills give you dick all health and all the pickups give you jack diddly
basically you just run circles around all the early arenas and pray to RNJesus that an imp doesn't decide to activate aimbot and snipe tf out of you from 3 blocks away
that said, love the game
but my goodness
I have heard many times over the years that 2016 NM and UN were unbalanced on purpose

2016 is the only modern DOOM game where I havenāt even attempted UN. Iāve done Nightmare and thereās only so many times you can listen to Rust, Dust, & Guts LC whilst dying over and over in the first room
2016 does feel balanced around ultra violence

well, whoever designed those difficulties in that game is a moron, that was not fun to go through at all lol

i know id software games are buggy by nature but fuck me, 2016 sometimes felt unplayable with how buggy it was
I feel like all that's needed to make 2016 much more balanced on nightmare is
- increase glory kill health drops
- increase armor pickup values to UV levels
- rebalance the most busted runes to be less OP (rich get richer, ammo boost)
- make siphon grenades only give you back armor
- let the bfg only hold 2 shots and make ammo more scarce
that way the early game wouldn't be so absurd and the late game wouldn't be so trivialized
also they could probably afford to give barons more HP
they're kinda sad
oh and also give siege mode a longer charge up time and reduce the damage a bit
Give Baron as much HP as you want, hell triple his HP if you feel like it, bro is still getting stunned for eternity by my stun blast and shredded to pieces by my remote det 
ah right stun bomb is also pretty broken
maybe nerf them against all enemies except pinkies

and the shield isn't even all that essential

Because it has a bug that makes it deal 50% less damage and the only way you can fix that bug is reloading checkpoint
