2016 and TDA soundtracks are similar if you think about it - there are stand out pieces in the soundtrack but also there are less interesting tracks
It's why they're the same rating for me

Impaler is OP at breaking armor? I don't recall ever breaking armor with it. The shield throw for empowered shots does seem a bit too strong though. Edit: Oh, I guess it does heat armor up relatively quickly.

What are the actual top 2 close and long range single shot damage weapons? Probably not Impaler because I think you lose your empowered shot on swapping. Probably not Reaver (for DPS) due to the charge time.

doom eternal is alot easier due to how much the game forgives you with near death status compared to the dark ages

funny i found it the opposite really. after i got past doom hunter base for the first time i literally beat UN on that run
i know that if i pay 1 dollar to the gamepass i get free games for 2 weeks but im too lazy
once you get most of the important upgrades and the ballista the game got ALOT easier for me in eternal

its not really about the parries its more of the back attacks. and sometimes the shield bugs out for me and wont block/parry
i remember my 2016 UN run, i died in the last arena of the entire game
Clear arenas with shield saw to mitigate adds hitting you from behind, find combos to nuke heavy and super heavy demons
also because of how much harder to get your health back in this game compared to eternal where you can just yeethook around the arena and farm fodder until your back in shape

I forgor. It only took me 6 attempts to clear UN so I don't remember much

Don't let him pressure you into making mistakes. The enemies are just ways to charge abilities, not actually enemies. They only hurt you if you let them
And if you're struggling for health, try the mourning star

Is it just me or is it kind of a shame how we get many weapons very late into the game?
A mode to be able to change which weapons we get and how early could be awesome, something similar to acquiring guns in Eternal horde mode or maybe even being able to pick the weapon you want when you reach a gun pickup in the campaign
Either that or a NG+ mode where you start with all weapons and runes but un upgraded

No the new game slot, to be determined if Hugo is considering a switch buff. Not eternal levels but letting players be able to switch between two or 3 guns it a time that isn't frustrating or restrictive
I'm guessing master levels, new tunables and maybe a horde mode, mod support is possible but we don't know

Man the whiplashes are so buggy lol: they often don't get stunned by the shield (or get stunned when they shouldn't), they don't get stunned by heaven splitter when they slither BUT still get shocked, cycler's shock effect doesn't bounce to them from other enemies when they slither as well.
Also if you stun it with your shield mid attack it still will finish the attack before getting stunned

I mean for most weapons it's okay, but getting the Dreadmace so late of further replays has been the cause why I've never used it aside from the level challenge
Oh and I'm not sure if it's a bug or not but does the mace not supposed to stagger every enemy no matter what?
Maybe it's cause I'm playing with 50% incoming damage or smth but my mace never staggers any heavy enemy like cybers, barons or agaddon hunters

I love the idea. But I feel like you either go all in or don't do it. Even if only for a very short time
Again it's very unsure what route they'll go, they solved it already with being able to block while switching, the weapon switch buff is the cherry on top if expanded on
dreadmace does tons of damage but it doesn't stagger enemies most of the time which is really weird, especially considering that a simple kick can stagger literally anything lol

I think it'd be cool if they did what you proposed, I just think they should make it just a tiny bit faster, otherwise it could quickly turn the game into doom eternal
Ye just a bit faster and after parrying, to further feed into the new loop but allow more creativity
I almost always use reaver for armor. Flail works too if you play with that. Accelerator is great for suppressive fire on long distances if you use the reduced spread upgrade
Accelerator, really? I used that a lot for fast moving enemies: Revenant, Witch, Komodo, Vagary (projectiles). But I assumed it was good against energy shields and bad against armor.

idk man, i think being rewarded with one (1) quickswap after a parry is a pretty conservative buff

It doesn't always get you killed, you just have to read the battlefield decently enough to do it
it doesn't take that long to swap either

every reload animation having uncancelable recovery frames long after the reload is visually done says otherwise

Switching takes a while even after the reload time is done for a weapon
i'm not talking about that, every reload is immediately cancelable into parry (even though the internal reload timer keeps ticking)

my issue with fodder in dark ages is that they're too much of a second thought. You see like dozens of fodder demons, then you throw your shield once, or you bash once, and they're all gone.

Hello, I'm having trouble playing Doom the dark ages on Game Pass on my PC. When I launch the game, my monitor fails to recognize the resolution, causing the game to lock up. I can't even alt-tab out or close the application, so I have to hard reset my computer.
Same with the soldier zombies in Dark Ages, especially shielded chaingunner , they very much can shred you if you're not paying attention, had a couple of deaths on zombie soldier projectile too

Just finished the game on max sliders, an interesting experience. It was often frustrating, but I had to relearn most of the fights which made the playthrough really fresh
Although many of the game's small technical flaws become really apparent when you play like this. I probably should've made a list of every bug I'd been encountering during the playthrough

i see so many people like 150% speed in general but i dont so in some ways i dont have the most popular prefferences
my favorite speed was 110% for a while but after recently playing at 150% I'll probably stick to either 120 or 130% from now on
ive had plenty of moments where the slowmo parries and melees was on beat with the tracks and it feels so good sometimes
without slowmo it wouldnt be feel like that

I made slow mo a bit shorter with Kaibz mod, it feels much better to me than vanilla. I don't like having no slow mo though

I will say though, it was pretty stupid to cut glory kills down because they "ruin the pace" and then make the equivalent have baked-in slow mo lol

the alternative to triple shot is also really weak, it gives you like 3 or 4 armor per killed fodder, you'd have to run around for like half a minute to restore at least half of your armor

yeah, let's say its maximum range is 15 meters, so at like 10-15 metres you'd deal maximum damage but when you get closer than 10 meters the damage starts gradually reducing

i think that forcing the player to swap weapons is worse than incentivizing it, one restricts the player, the other lets the player do what they want to, but rewards utilization of the full arsenal
eternal was somewhere in the middle here, which i liked, it was better to use your full arsenal because of its different utility, but you also couldn't only rely on one gun
or you can actually for the most part rely on for example the ssg, but most people don't seem to realise that🤷♂️

I remember being completely unimpressed with earlier presentations of d2016 so I was expecting to not like it that much.
From the trailers it felt like a bit more combat focused doom 3 to me.
When it came out I was completely blown away, it was so much better than I expected
Eternal's start always feels pretty high-pressure to me, at least compared to the sparsely paced fodderfest of 2016's opening

I've played through the entirety of dark ages right now 100%'ing the game (3 maps left) and i can say the game is more peak then ever

tag had really good concepts they just didn’t have enough time
they ended up making tag1 a tad too hard so tag2 is easier than it
and the enemies in tag2 while most decent in gameplay are recolored og enemies
they even made tag2 easier than the base campaign
and they should've added less demons in tag2, because now all of them are suffering from being buggy, reskins, and not fitting into the gameplay
