cycler's shock debuff is just that broken
The cycler is good if you get the chain going. It can stunlock huge crowds of heavies
Its just not very good against fodder because they die before the shock

Like in 2016 you have to appreciate everything was a boots on the ground military slop like CoD. D2016 was like a bolt of lightning fresh air for me. DE expanded and made it 4D chess rock paper scissors but very sweaty. TDA was pure power fantasy you really do feel like a tank

I have my own unoptimized version of quick swapping. It sure does less damage and it isn't the quickest route to killing most demons, but I couldn't care less. Pro level quick swapping ain't for me

I quick swap less for the efficiency, and more for the swag. Like, I cannot name the amount of times ive rotated around a cyberdemon with the ssg grapple hook shot, shot a sticky bomb at its head, and then precision bolted its head before I hit the ground. That is in NO WAY the most efficient way to attack a tyrant

I spoke about this before here but it was contractually obligated halo game. Grey and brown no love or life. Not many good set pieces. MP was 70% forge made grey maps and the other 30% was ripped from campaign (lazy not fit for purpose). Story also retconned the books.

Revy's are easy to kill. Shield can stun lock them. And our plasma guns can still hurt them, even if they make themselves momentarily ethereal

So another praise for this game is it is your experience, what I mean is that I watched two different YouTubers and on the first mission with the turret section I noticed something. When killing the titan one guy focused on the chest and the damage model reflected it and the other guy shot the leg and the game reflected the different parts he damaged. They both killed the titan but the titan had damage in different parts on its body because they shot in different parts and the game responded and THAT is so cool and makes me wonder what else can be tailored to your specific experience. And that is also the age we live in folks š

I think it's just the plug and play, rapid dev nature of it, leads to bloat, and then sometimes the people dragging and dropping end up saddled with problems too big to easily fix. The opposite seems to apply with idtech 8, early optimisation in engine and content, continuous close collaboration between engine dev and everyone else keeps things streamlined

TDA from top to bottom is just 10 out of 10 for me I love the art style the fact the imp stalkers are just ripped from classic doom along with the sounds they make, the demons being left after killing them in glorious fashion is a huge plus, the mechanics of the shield alone are plentiful and fun as hell. I haven't even beaten this game yet and I'm floored by it, I love eternal to death just like the other fans but that doesn't mean Dark Ages can't be amazing because it is. I prefer Dark Ages over Eternal a lot but topped "very easily" nah, the games are neck to neck no matter which side you land on. Even some levels of Eternal look a lot like Dark Ages. They are both DOOM in their own ways. I know you may be lashing out because so many prefer Eternal, it is what it is.
TDA is a lot more interesting to me than Eternal and it isn't even close tbh.

Not him, but for me it has the best aesthetics, sound design, and atmosphere out of the classic games. The guns look and sound BEEFY AF! Almost as much as 2016 and Dark Ages's gun sound beefiness in some cases even.
It also has by far the most consistent level design.
1993 and DII had a lot of mediocre and even poor levels .
There's also some tech like with stages terra forming that wasn't possible with the first two.
It's also super surreal and abstract and somehow very dark and foreboding and evil looking while being extremely colorful at the same time.
In the Void is also the best Hell based mission in a classic DOOM game and it ain't even remotely close.

In a lot of ways I find it more interesting than even the top tier melee games like Bloodborne.
Due to the synergy and the way the melees play and combo into the guns, shield runes, shield flexibility, shooting, cancels , and gun buffs and countless other things.

Yeah. I find a lot more fun to use power gauntlet. It makes insane damage, charges fast and it's fun

Flail is very satisfying, and means you can take armor off as part of your melee "sentences"
Iām saying the projectiles already have different timing and itās not difficult to parry them even when being shot at by multiple at the same time, making all parryable doesnāt make this much harder
It's not hard because the projectiles that can be parried are not always there, so the projectiles are stupid easy to parry.
If everything could be parried, they could make more super hard attacks to parry in return to keep you on your toes

That's the point, you can make more projectiles that are super hard to parry and hard to dodge, or INSANELY hard to parry but easier to dodge, or super hard to dodge but easy to parry
Right now every parriable attack is easy to parry and easy to dodge (when it's a projectile)
I think you're ignoring the fact that the flow of the game combines the things you can do naturally the way it is. It brings you into combat, provides natural combinations of move, shoot, charge, melee, parry together

There are better less intrusive ways to do so. The slowmo is a bad mechanic, it'd just be better if they made it, for example, only happen on the third strike of a melee or when you execute someone.
Slowdown on every parry while also having a falter after parries is so.... Stupid
The parry falter is great. The parry having a slowmo AND a falter is overkill
The parry having slowmo, falter and the slowmo not being toggable is a sin
The parry by itself already gives you a massive window even without the slowmo, it's so unnecessary
It's difficult to say after the fact because now we're all here for it
I think drastically switching up core combat loops in established franchises is fraught with bad possibilities and the fact people have generally taken to it and want it harder, suggests the approach was probably good
It wasn't difficult for me to see how the slowmo was annoying the first time I dealt with it
And it seems that it's not just my opinion, as it was brought up to Hugo on his first TDA stream
The slowmo is straight up bad
I don't mind the slow mo, but now I am used to it I want to try it without for more speed, more fun. As long as the game stays firmly under my control it's not a big problem for me.
