Is the Impaler slo-mo bugged? Holding the trigger usually, but not always slows time down. And many times while in slo-mo, my crosshairs are forced away from my target

the hits on ahzrak are way way more forgiving than other attacks i was percieving

I honestly do miss the specific weapon assortments from Eternal. Now all the guns just feel overly optional.
I do think this can still work here in TDA if they just amp up enemy difficulty and have you use weapon weakpoints.
Then it'll be a great dance. They can even make some enemies more dangerous where they spam melee rushes at you to parry, that way you're not omitting the need to stand and fight.

i think the baron and the komodo are pretty great enemies. aggressive, big, can deal with a lot of ways. the cyber demon and the boar thing forcing you to get up close break the flow so hard

Is there enough time/weapon upgrades early enough in the game to master every weapon (gold skin) in one playthrough? In Pandemonium and UN where you can only play each mission once.

I've tried all of the fixes recommended on the help page, as well as a bunch of other stuff that I found online. What I have not yet tried is rolling back the GPU drivers, could this help? Started a nightmare run today after my first UV playthrough and oh my god it makes the combat so much better. i still have a slight issue in that you never seem to run out of ammo like in eternal so you dont really feel like you ever have to go out of your way to get it which takes some tension away.
If youāre doing a playthrough where if you die your games over, should you bother upgrading stuff. Cause most isnāt essential and it takes time to go get the stuff, and I donāt want to do all the extra work just to die

I wish we had a difficulty setting like pandemonium, but instead of using life sigils to restart the whole chapter, we could restart from a checkpoint by using the sigil. Running out of sigils would equal restarting the whole chapter.

yes, as long as you have life sigils, you can redo the whole chapter on death. If you run out of sigils, its game over like ultra-nightmare

I understood why they wanted to do a different playstyle after Eternal. Yes 2016 offers flexibility but most players would use the most powerful weapons. SSG and Gauss were ridiculous. I feel like TDA went back to this route but it was more refined, and keeping that Eternal playstyle of a ruleset, which is why I think TDA is the best imo, it offers flexibility while giving each weapon the chance to shine while still allowing you to do what you want

That is true, but I felt it more in TDA. Eternal was for me, just a tiny bit more restrictive, it had more rules. Not saying itās a bad thing, definitely not, itās fantastic game because of it. TDA allows for more experimentation while still offering a challenge and engaging gameplay
Lot more rock paper scissors in Eternal, not a bad thing, but weapons were more effective than others in dealing with demons at least in my experience. Doom TDA, seems to have toned it down a notch.

This is it. Rock paper scissors is the perfect way to summarise it. People call it battle chess but I always found it strange because in chess, youāre not limited to specific rules, youāre just given what you have to stop the opponent however you want, while still playing the general rules. How you defeat the enemy is up to you and any weapon can be valuable
I wouldn't say damage per se factors into it, but more of weapon mechanics in dealing with how a demon functions in terms of it's kit.

Like you could have multiple ways of killing a large horde in TDA, each of them having their own strengths and flaws while still getting the job done. The accelerator heat blast or the pincushion for example
It's not restriction, but for a basic example a caco swallowing an explosive shell to stun it.
It's gun mechanics playing with demon mechanics
There are other ways of a stunning a caco definitely, but most players Iāve seen just use the sticky grenade ever since because itās just embedded in their head.
TDA is more all of my guns are rocks and I'm just going to smash them all against a demons skull and kill them
Itās not exactly a forced restriction but the brain is just told to just use sticky grenade at this point
I think what changes the main mentality is moving the "Rock paper scissors" from the weapons, to the other hand..
Rather than the game implying where you should shoot to effectively kill demons, you can shoot wherever you want...

But the thing is with TDA, you understand how powerful your weapons are and you start having fun with experimenting, not because of rules, but because you understand each weapon has potential to change the battlefield

What Iāve seen is that most of the weapons in TDA can turn the tide in any battle. Shredder and pincushion combo stops a Mancubus while killing other demons from a far distance. Or you could go in close and just heat blast accelerator. Or fuck it grenade launcher. Entirely up to you

For example like the accelerator heat blast vs the pincushion technique. Both can be effective at dealing a horde consisting of one tanky enemy like a Mancubus and multiple fodder/medium demons. I can use accelerator to charge the heat blast by shooting at the Mancubus and then killing the entire horde, or I can go at a distance and stun the Mancubus with the shield and then kill the horde using the shredder pincushion

That was when it clicked for me I guess, and more ideas just popped for me

From my (agreed, humble) experience, while choosing the correct weapon ind TDA is quite important, what realy makes a difference in efficiency is just going at it.
In other games, a more carefull approach might work better, you suffer less damage and might get a tactical advantage from going slow. For me perrsonaly forget about that in TDA (and also in eternal). The more aggressive you go at it, the better off you'll be.
Rush in, kill fast will give a better chance of survival, if only because the armor shards and health drops of the slain enemies keep you alive.
What has been a rule of thumb for FPS in general: "Move it or loose it" is an absolutely basic, mandatory law for D°°M.

this isn't entirely true for TDA or Eternal
sure, being aggressive in Eternal is good, but you can easily be too aggressive, it's even more like this in TDA. trying to go as aggressive as i go in Eternal in TDA usually leads to being punished, staying somewhat back and parrying a lot is usually better, which is a bit repetitive and not very engaging. both games suffer from having a very broad playstyle be dominant which isn't really the most engaging (air camping in Eternal, staying back in TDA)

Thereās multiple ways š¤©. If you want to push through straight forward to get to somewhere beyond horde, or like the fights close and personal, you can use the first option. If you want to go around the horde from a safe distance while still dealing effective damage to keep spacing between another tougher demon coming up from miles ahead like a Cosmic Baron, the second option. Of course, this horde is not limited to these options, thereās so much more
Of course, nothing beats just using the SSG if you want to kill the Mancubus asap, only if youāre willing to run to give space to the horde

The revenant is a prime example of this, as imo he needs to be taken out asap with some bashing and SSG.
The mancubus isn't as threatening, and you can farm some parties from it.
Eternal didn't have this, outside of maybe the Archvile. Everything had a weak spot. As long as you hit weak spots, it didn't matter who you fought first, second, third, etc.

The $70 USD price point is spendy for a game consisting of only a singleplayer campaign that averages 20-25 hours of gameplay. Iād argue it should have been $50 maximum, or as said, released with more content.
Still, TDAās campaign is the most detailed and technically impressive out of the entire franchise. The maps are much more expansive than the previous 2 Doom games. The Atlan and dragon sections are also some of the more complex gameplay additions weāve seen in a Doom game.
Not defending the price, but I think thatās where most of the resources went. Hoping for more content outside the DLC as well.

I found a lot of the second half of TDA harder than Eternal personally.
Eternal's too forgiving with the pinata levels of resource drops and being able to restack to full resources basically whenever you want, much lower damage properties from the demons, dash spam and air mobility abuse as well as Chaingun energy shield.
I found Chapter 22 harder than Final Sin for example.
Nightdive should definitely make a Quake game, but together with a studio that understands Quake and can build something new on top of it

There's some very tough encounters here and there, that are much harder than Eternal and 2016.
It just might not keep a consistent difficulty level or logical difficulty progression at times, and sometimes difficulty spikes can come out of nowhere.
i think its better that they removed it, glory kills as a heavy tank wouldnt work, executions are better for this type of game atleast
