the thing is, i find myself feeling like most of my deaths in tda were just situations where there was nothing i could've done. for example im surrounded by enemies and projectiles and my shield was broken because i fucked up a parry and now its snowballed into me dying. in eternal i always found that every situation was winnable and there was never a moment where i went "im fucked"

This is a random complaint but i wish they had handled the difficulty sliders a bit differently. Why not make the difficulty change to "Custom" whenever you move the sliders to not match the difficulty you picked? The difficulty you selected means absolutely nothing because you could be playing on Nightmare with baby mode settings, or playing on aspiring slayer with everything cranked way up. Not to mention allowing you to move the sliders on ultra nightmare. Idk i just think that this change would make everything a lot less confusing, especially for speedrunning categories

SSG maxed out is incredibly fun

Larger enemies with essence don't really get stunned, they have about 3 or 4 attacks that you can parry though, and in between you can do like chainshot or SSG hits

From what I can tell it's not necessarily a bug, but the game doesn't always allow you to override melee inputs with other actions. If you press melee more than once then you'll swing at least twice even if you try to shield/shoot after the first strike. It's definitely not ideal and I'm not sure if they've publicly acknowledged it, but I believe it can be avoided by being a bit more careful with your button presses

I'm about half the campaign, and here are my thoughts:
I was skeptical in the first levels, mainly because of the broken HDR and the game looking all blurry in 4K. But after enabling the colorblind mode to have more control on contrast, I finally got to experience the game the right way.
And well, I gotta say this is definitely one of the best DOOM games I've ever played. The grimdark, gritty soundtrack and art direction are something I could only dream of, and after getting used to the gameplay, it's actually very fun to play.
Thank you for this amazing game, it doesn't deserve all the hate it's getting, but... Please fix the HDR!!! 🔥 People are missing out on what the game really looks like

DOOM 2016, Eternal and Dark Ages all look perfect in their own way, but the sinister medieval look is exactly what we needed after the too colorful DOOM Eternal. And yes, it is personally my favorite look. I love the grimdark/dark fantasy vibe
