Because RDNA 3 uses a chiplet architecture that creates latency between the cores, in order to bridge the latency gap it uses interconnects with AMD’s IF. The problem is IF draws a lot of power due to voltage overheads from the interconnects constantly trying to reduce latency between the cores (they all have to fire in parallel unlike a CPU’s cores that can be picked and chosen). AMD is known for being budget friendly, so a majority of manufacturers use poly capacitors and low grade VRMs to bring the prices down. So often times these traces and pcbs end up getting burnt due to an overflow of current. You would be generally safer with an ASUS or a Sapphire Nitro + because they use high quality MLCC’s and thicker traces.

Though regardless, I wouldn’t reccomend in good faith anyone buy one, and definitely not used. There’s a reason AMD switched from chiplet architecture to monolithic for their 9070xt’s

i hate that they took out MSAA out of GTA V enhanced man, your only choise is res upscaling (straight up running the game at a higher compressed resolution), FXAA and no AA

That’s why I factored in Ray tracing and VRAM, it’s different in benchmark to benchmark, sometimes the 4080 super does better and sometimes the 7900xtx does. Depends on the silicon lottery and pcb quality. Personally my 4080 super performs better than most 7900xtx’s but it’s not a fair game because I chose a chip with good silicon quality

Oh boy windforce, yeah they don’t use very robust cooling solutions and heatsinks. So yeah that can absolutely be a factor.

I’d say grab some thermal paste and isopropyl alcohol, open your GPU up, clean the thermal paste on the die and contact plate and replace it with the new one (either thermal grizzly or just mx-6)

Then head into MSI afterburner, test out where you can push an undervolt and add a fan curve

Sucks that physical copies of Doom The Dark Ages for the PS5 only have 85MB on the disc. The rest has to be downloaded digitally. The fact that Doom The Dark Ages will not run on the Steam Deck and it runs at 60fps but only in upscaled 1080p on the Xbox Series S gives me a feeling that a Switch 2 port will probably never be a thing. If it will, they're gonna have to make a lot of graphical and technical downgrades.
